Ryatha - I think mine are cotton and terry maybe? I got mine from FJ before Miss M was born, so can't really remember - plus I obviously haven't used mine for a while.. LOL My prefolds were fine for me, no leaks and did for a few hours, cos she was feeding every 2 hours anyway, and I changed her nappy every feed, so it worked for us! Oh and some time in the dryer for PUL is fine to reseal it, which can help leaking problems. Just on low though. I know a person on another site who put their nappy in the dryer on high accidentally and totally ruined it!!!
Katie - I think I had about 6 prefolds all up, but I had lots of little fitted nappies, so it wasn't too bad. As I said before, I'm pretty sure mine are the small ones, and they did us till Miss M was about 7 or 8 weeks I think? She was nearly 9 pound born, but really long and skinny so I think thats why we got away with it. Oh, and I used the fold where you do wrap it around their waist and fasten with a snappi - better poo-tainment with that fold I found. I don't mind just having the pad in there either, but would definitely use a cover like a mother-ease which has the flap at the front to tuck the prefold into, and leg gussets to help contain those explosions!!!! I can't remember if thirsties have the flap at the front or not - I gave mine away ages ago.
Not much else is happening. Didn't have a night nappy set up for Miss M last night - she has been pooping in them of a night time, so I've been going through 2 sometimes! So I went to the old BBH Bamboo and also chucked an insert from my sandman's nappy that I can't use cos the elastic is shot - and also an itti booster in there.. pmsl... it worked though - no leaks!!! LOL Amazing what you can throw together when you absolutely have to!
I'm glad everyone had a good time at the Melbourne meet up - hopefully the Qld one in August will be awesome too!!!
WOTB's: soggy night nappies - but no leaks.. LOL
