Hi, hope you are having a great weekend!
Strip wash - how often and what do you use?
I talked my cousin in to trying some Itti D'lish - she got a trial pack and now says I am gunna send her broke and she plans on highjacking a delivery truck  - her bubba is 4 months old - so I have converted one person hehehehe.
WOZB - nudie time at the moment ...
Sami, I used the morning fresh method.
Do the' big' wash on your machine (y'know the prewash setting) and at the very start put a couple of drops of morning fresh in. (I actually put in a small sqirt) then just let it do its thing.
I think it worked, my nappies are kinda squeaky, its like any build up of oil/detergents are gone. Microfibre-ey is kind of how they feel....
Used hot wash.
Teru- is this what you did?
WOLB Ass rockin CB :)
Oh damn I missed the "PING"s sorry Shell.
I was actually downstairs strip washing nappies.
I use the dishwashing liquid too, little squirt - I know some ladies only use a small spot though.
Got to go hang them all out now.
Hmm how many night nappies do you all have?
We have 3 sandmans and 1 LL
Because DS isn't wearing many nappies at the moment I've been leaving it 3-4 days between washes. They're only ever tiny dribbles of wee if he hasn't reached the loo in time and I've been rinsing them so no stinkies. Just means my night naps aren't dry in time and I don't want to wash any more frequently it's only ever half a load as it is.
WOPB: undies and his thomas tank boxer shorts.
shell- i did a normal wash. then a hot wash with a squirt of dishwashing liquid & extra rinse. they turned out smelling like they normally do out of a hot wash with nothing put in. mebbe thats just the way they should smell? dunno...
Bonjour!!
Anyone remember me? I don't even want to look at however many threads I've missed in the last two weeks since I was online...
Still doing part-time MCN on holidays. It was hard in Lebanon because the water was doing scary things to my hair and skin, so washing nappies was potentially destroying them! Also, the pollution was stinking everything up when I hung them on the balcony to dry. But still managing every second day in cloth.
Now in Nice, the water is hard, but we have an awesome washing machine to use, works like a front loader but is a top-loader. Has a hatch in the barrel thingy. Also works as a dryer, and is only half the size of a regular washing machine. Don't know why we dont have them in Oz... Wish I'd brought more MCN and less clothes. Don't need much as it's hot and sunny and we're at the beach every day! Oh well. All that chatter about how cold it is, I'm really starting to freak out about coming home now. Don't have a dryer, and haven't experienced winter in our house yet as we only moved in last Sept. Guess we'll find out on Friday when we get home and back to my Little Squirt! Seriously, I miss that thing... one time I didn't use a flushable liner for DS, and we didn't have the travel potty handy... erk!
Have had loads of comments on DS's amber necklace. Seems everyone knows about them here, but I haven't seen any other kids with them.
It would be absolute hell for coeliacs here. It's hard enough being lactose intolerant!
Maz - I wanted to take pics of the Pot Of Gold in Monaco, but there was really nothing there to stop for, so we kept going to Menton, near the Italian border. Also wanted to go to Italy for a bit and take pics there, but it hasn't worked out that way. Sorry!! There's one on my facebook page in front of the sign to Italy tho!
Alors, back to reality in a few days... and hopefully some good news about the 13 BumGs I sent back coz the elastic was shoddy!
WOAB: sadly, a sposie. It's 11pm here and he's sleeping. But there's a tidy little pile of fluff ready for tomorrow!
hey nana ! i love travelling your making me jealous!!! its my DD with the gluten intolerance and it sucks , its hard enough finding food in my town let alone abroad !! well done on the mcn usage .. and that washer sounds like a hybrid
thanks caddie will pop into the newsagents today ! its hard because dd hasnt really got teeth and is still on pureedish food , maybe i cant make it and mash it :)
DH forgot a NN on DS and the poor fella wet the bed , not sure what time it was but we had a visitor hogging the bed for the rest of the night ..
and there is a sposie on DD's butt soon to be a woddle bots , as the sun came out yesterday long enough to dry some nappies ...
we have a photo shoot for DD tomorrow , do you think i should take a spesh nappy and get pics??
but what nappy ??? my fave is a whizz kids but its 2nd hand and the minkee is looking a liitle old :(
i do love WK but the are a bit puffy on Gabs .. maybe coz of her tiny giney
eeewwwww DS just told me he "bompit" in his hands .. but it was a huge green lugie ... groosee
I got given an Iish Fly from the lovely Mel yesterday, and X promptly christened it. Ewwwww. 4 poos in one day ugh! Also got a Cute Tooshies to try for overnight.
I bought a Snoozywun, GF and Wildchild last night, can't wait to get more fluffly mail!
haha candice its always the way, something new gets the crap test. I still haven't unpacked my bag from yesterday - I'm a slacker. Can't be stuffed doing it today - was NOT a good night here. *yawn*
WOTB's: Still night nappies. Have to change his and she went back to sleep. Or should I say, she went TO sleep finally
We had a bad night. Oscar peed through not one but 2 ecobubs.
I really dont know what to do with him, they are too tight around the middle, but legs gape, so going up a size will not necessarily help.
This is the same with quite a lot of nappies - atm the only ones that fit OK are widdlewuns - though small are now too small, and IBs but there again hes had to go up to medium for around his middle, but legs are skinny.
So nothing fits properly without a cover, and we've been most living in IBs with cover or BBBH
DH lost my favourite SB pocket, which also fit well :(
If anyone knows where I can get some WWs in medium let me know.
And that newish second hand site where I've seen lots of familiar names, if someone could PM me the url that would be good.
WOOB: Medium yellow IB AI2 and BBH PUL cover
your probably thinking of nappychic :) google that hunni. Sucks about the nappies not fitting!!
ray - yikes! Sorry to hear it hun, but check out nappy chic or buy for baby.
We tried using a night nappy last night (super boosted GK) and not changing X when she woke up for feeds. It worked well, she didn't fully wake up and went straight back down. For the first time she slept 5.5 hours (that is the longest EVER for us!). But when she woke up in the morning she had two red raw welts on her bottom (actually, not near the exit hole, closer to underneath her legs if that makes sense). Dunno why? The nappy was only on for 8.5 hours.
WOXB - Fuschia itta and a smothering of black pawpaw ointment
could she be reacting to the elastic? is it where the inside of the nappy was or where the nappy was sitting?
Just wanted to update you on the dave issue since it is good atm
Had mediation today. Was so stressed about what was going to happen, dreading a fight with Dave about visits, but I had my proposal and my fingers crossed that it would go ok. It went fine :) Dave agreed to what I put on offer which is good, last thing I wanted was to be running back and forth to a lawyer and court fighting him on it.
He agreed to 6 contact centre visits. They will happen once a fortnight on the weekend for 2 hours. Then I said after he's done that I will be happy for him to have him for the day but NO overnight visits.
He didn't realise we had moved, I had to tell him that and he didn't sound very happy. Oh well. He sounded very shocked when the lady was saying "do you know where Ashton is living right now?" lol
So in about 4-6 weeks visits will commence, then it will be 12 weeks of contact centre visits, and I will be more comfortable with Dave taking him since he will be older and hopefully not so relient on my milk :)
So yay for us, yay for me getting what I wanted, he didn't even disagree with anything I said, he just kept saying "I just want to see Ashton". Think he might have missed him since his last visit in April? LOL idiot! The lady prompted us to talk about what Ashtons doing with milestones and anything new and Dave was floored that he has 6 words that he uses reguarly, has taken 5 steps and is a smart little cookie!
Nappies... well I've just changed him into his Bizy bee halfie :P
Wahoo Missy, I am so glad it went well for you.
I think the PUL cover might have had a crease at the point where she got her red marks. Oh well, lesson learned.
WOXB - BBH magicall
PrincessXanthe- what was your user name before you changed it? Or have I got you confused with someone else?
How long do you leave lanolising things in the water for to soak?
Also, is it only the V2.0 BumGs that have the problem elastic or all of them?
Finally, DD soaked through a wool cover last night???
I soak my wool covers for about half an hour to lanolise them. And apparently most of the bumg's have the elastic problem - I have had elastic go in about 3 of mine (I have about 15 or 16) and I've had them over a year, using constantly. I think I've got a pretty good go out of mine!! I'm getting the elastic replaced (there are people that will do it for you for really cheap) because there is nothing else wrong with them.
Missy - glad you are sorting something out
Thanks for the explanation PX and Arimeh re BumG.
Well it is lanolising now but wasn't when she soaked thru it as someone told me that the wool on BBHs was so thick that it didn't need the inital lanolising but she wasn't to know how DD soaks everything!
I always lanolised my BBH wool covers - and then I ended up getting rid of them anyway :)
Mel - could you PM me about this when you get a chance babe? I need some of mine done too but FJ did my last lot and I don't know of anyone else who could fix them for me :dunno::
I'm getting the elastic replaced (there are people that will do it for you for really cheap) because there is nothing else wrong with them.
I'm such a slacker, I realised today that I haven't prewashed any of Boo's nappies yet!! I keep forgetting about it. Today would have been perfect, nice and sunny but I've now got a line full of clothes...maybe tomorrow.
Hi ladies!
Rayray - with the ecos, do you snap them up in different positons, or both at the same place? Because with laa, i usually have the tummy snap done one tighter than the leg snaps so that they give her a good fit.
mel - glad things are working out for you hun
katie - oh!!! sorry babe i didn't realise! in that case yes give them a lanolising
our nappy news - ANOTHER night nappy has holes. could it be acidic teething wee? its only the night nappies - can pee be that strong that it will chew holes whilst its on her? she doesnt wake up with a rash or anything.....?
wohb - the newly re visited itti's - they really didnt sit nicely a little while ago now they are great!
OMG what NN babe? one of mine???
Elastic is easy...ive done it for a few girls in here.....If I lived closer I could teaches ya's all :)
Mel - lucky you have a brain hey babe ;)
Hello everyone..have no brain atm..the joys of school holidays
Hey Girls
Not much to say except that I'm jealous of NaNa.
Umm nappies drying on the line.
DS went the whole day in undies, even trips to the shops for hours - NO accidents at all. Such a good boy, but makes mummy sad and happy at the same time.
Hope you're all basking in the fluffyness tonight girls.
XX
OK...what is this??
Was folding DSs IBs this afternoon and one of them looked all weird and wrinkly on the front...on further investigation it feels like the PUL is all stuck together under the minky?? :dunno:
Any ideas ladies??
Willow there is a bit of that happening. Contact them about it. I'm about to about some of mine :( They are sounding very crinkly.
Willow I have heard that happening with a few itti's. I think others had to send them back.
oh yeah the good old delaminating.... sigh...
I am having the same problem again with the new ones I just got sent as replacements! Just can't be assed dealing with it so i'll just put up with it.
Kids are all in bed thank goodness. I am exhausted today, don't know why. Nappies are all washed and in my room with the 2 baskets of clothes I washed in the last week and have been TOO LAZY to fold  waiting for me... yay... I bet your all jealous hey...
On a good note, I have managed to not use the drier for ANY nappies for a week :D:D:D Now this is a big thing for me because I dry everything in winter! But I've been hanging them on the clothes horse in the laundry and the drier is going with clothes and they get dried fast. Or dragging it out when Ashtons sleeping and sticking it in the window in the sun.
Sold my VHC nappy :) Happy now cos it clears one debt I had. YAY! Can't wait till tax time cos I have a few nappy laybys to pay off... Mels, Flattery, Whizz Kidz and my mumma pads :)
WOHB: Trusty BBH with woolybottoms footsies :)
Tummy snap one tighter than legs? Im not sure what you mean. I have them done up in different positions, but the top and bottom snap line up, not always left and right are even though. I fine this on all the side snapping nappies, I do the first side and then the second side is uneven, but if i change it they're both uneven
I have used the ecos with success before, i think maybe he is just growing our of the small size. He was in a medium bubblebub today as well :o
Kitten- Actually can't really remember who it was as it so doesn't matter but I am sure it wasn't you! Couldn't get the darn thing dried in time (only got my very first one last week) to put on DD tonight so she is in a sposie which will leak anyway so tomorrow night I will test it on her!:
katie - oh!!! sorry babe i didn't realise! in that case yes give them a lanolising
Bonjour mes ami!
lovely to hear from you NaNa! The pollution in Lebanon sounds scary (if you had to live there all the time i mean). Enjoy the sun in Nice.
CHARMLEA
re photo shoots, i have heard of people on purpose, using black and white mcn on their bubs for the photo shoot e.g dalmation print, pony print, zebra stripes, all that high contrast type stuff. ANd if you have it on covers, even better, cos if baby needs a change during shoot, just change the fitted nappy underneath, and re=use the cover.
Maybe Gabs suits narrow crotched nappies?
RAYRAY, are you doing up the ecobubs diagonally?
e.g i'm assuming there are two rows of side snaps.
do up the top row to suit the waist
do up the bottom row to suit the legs
say there are three pairs of snaps on the back wings
you might have the nappy done up on the FIRST snap for the waist
you might have the nappy done up on the SECOND snap for the legs
so that means the FRONT wing will look diagonal
hard to put down in words
easy to show you IRL - if only we weren't 1,000's of kilometres away from each other!
Princess Xanthe
i LOVE the photo of your dd in your siggy!
one of the reasons some people don't put PUL nappies on their bubs overnight, is that some babies react to PUL being in contact with their skin, for that length of time. E>g they're fine in the day, when the same nappy is on them for say two hours at a time, but not for a long stretch like 8.5hrs.
sounds like the absorbency part of the nappy worked for you, but not what the outer is made out of.
Without seeing her little bottom, so only making guesses here, another possibility - reaction to the suedecloth inner of the Greenkids pocket. Again, she might be fine for SHORT wears of nappies that have synthetic inners, but not for LONG wears.
Greenkids have concealed elastic, so i don't suspect the elastic (again, impossible to call, unless you get to see it IRL). Many people have problems with FOE (fold over elastic) on their bubs overnight e.g the baby beehinds wool wraps. but that is not an issue with the Greenkids pockets.
i will share something with you, that i found, when i had a month old bub too, re overnight changes. If i put her in an APLIX closing nappy, the SOUND of the aplix, would rouse her heaps, so it was hard to get her to sleep again. So i worked out, it wasn't the changes that roused her, it was the SOUND OF THE APLIX (the rip rip rip when you open it up). So i tried to have non-aplix options for the night time changes - that helped heaps. Also, doing the changes in dim light (having nappy combos ready and waiting, so i didn't need the big light on, to find what i needed). and making no eye contact. You may be doing all this already, just put it, JIC it might help you or someone else reading this.
MissyMoo
woo hoo on the mediation going so well.
and woot on reducing your drier time, that is quite a feat (in Tassie i mean).
Katie Rabbit
the version 2 bum genius have had the most complaints re the elastic
when the version 3 was released, the BG company said they had addressed the elastic problems of the Version 2. The V2 had a six month warranty, the V3 has a 12 month warranty.
if your DD soaked thru a wool cover last night, my first thoughts would be
- when was the cover lanolised last?
- how much lanolin was used?
- was a day or a night nappy on underneath the wool cover?
- if a day nappy, i would suggest you use a night nappy for night
- if a night nappy, i would suggest some OUTER boosting, that means you add a booster or a trifold (bamboo) inbetween the outer of the fitted night nappy, but inside the wool cover. that way, the extra layers won't give you any leg gape issues.
(once again, all "in the dark" guesses, cos i can't see the nappy in question, or the cover, or your bub). but i try to give you some possibilities.
Katie Rabbit - to lanolise - turn item INSIDE OUT before you soak it.
Kitten - you unlucky chickadee to have the disintegrating nappy fabrics! it really seems to be like a lottery, who gets that fabric that does that. I've read posts by a person online (another forum) who is washing her child's night nappies either once or twice a week, and my thought every time i see that comment is "won't the nappies be wrecked, by the urine being left so long?" - i cringe every time i read it. I figure night nappies are (understandably) pricier, so i felt very strongly about preserving and looking after them - i figure they do a hard job, and they did it so well, so deserved some TLC (said, as only could be said, by a mum of ONE child LOL). I know no-one here leaves the night nappies in the bucket for four days, so i'm not aiming this at any of you, just venting out loud. (note: i am still missing bilby NOT being in mcn).
Cheeky Monkey - congrats and commiserations all at the same time. Your clever lad. Was he ok with "strange" toilets in shopping centres? We went thru a week of absolute refusal to use ANY toilet except at home LOL.
WIllow - sounds like de-laminated PUL, faulty fabric. Just contact whoever you bought the nappies from. They will ask you how you cared for the nappies. If you cared for them in a way, that is contrary to that brand's care instructions, you may or may not get help. If you followed the care instructions to the letter, and are still in the warranty period, you will get help.
wotbb: she's fast asleep, so blueberry trainer and woollen longies (sleeping on a brollysheet, so if she wets, i just change the brollysheet (and replace it with the spare brollysheet) and don't have to change the sheets. She's wetting about 2 nights in 7 now.
considering she comes into my bed from about 1 or 2am nearly every night (stumbles into my room, eyes barely open, "booby mummy"), i should have a brolly sheet on MY bed, but i'm so slack, i haven't done that.
MAZ - Vy is just so lovely, that new photo is wonderful, makes me smile ear to ear
hey Gigi , the BBH wool wraps have ribbed organic wool and cotten blend as the "fold over the elastic bit" the FOE is on PUL .... im glad it isnt the FOE on the wool , it would get sodden pretty quick ..
and yea only narrow crotch her , IB are perfect for her . so im after more she will fit the MED for ages as the wings are meeting in the middle and i can overlap it if i get leg gape , but i only over lap the wings on a magic all as we get a bit of gape , i love MA's too but they are bulky and higher in the rise , my DS wears a MED MA boosted to bed , hes 14.5 kg hunk of an almost 3yr old , if he can wear it boosted to bed , it gives a good pictre to compare my 8kg teeny weeny 10mth old with a short rise and crotch and short all over !! definatiey got a mised bag with my 2 shap wise
off to order a lunette right now !! and prolly a few overnight pads aswell !!
Morning!!
And a very good morning it is, my Mum arrives today YIPPEEEEEEEEE! Oh how I love and miss my Mum.
GiGi - DS was fine with shopping centre toilets. I wiped them down with anti-bacterial wipes and as the seat is too big for him had to hold him with my hand under his bum. Lucky he's a boy and his aim is good lol Oh and yes he still sits down to wee, it's easier to get it in the toilet that way. When he's a bit older Daddy will teach him to stand up. At the moment even with the step he is still too short to do this at the toilet comfortably.
Lea - is this your first experience with cloth pads and the cup?
How many cloth pad mummas do we have in here?
I've always been afraid, and I don't get AF anyway stupid stupid stupid body.
WOPB: Pirate Sandman and SHP Red Soaker. Still sleeping!
this is my 2nd cycyle since birth and i used colth last month and will NEVER EVER EVER go back ... oh the luxury of cloth !! the cup i havent tried but id love to get one as i can leave it in longer than a tampon and not have to worry about it ... they are so pretty looking and just for me ... i feel spoilt when i wear them , like its a secret more women should know about
my ds sits to pee aswell :)
hey ladies!
maz - no not one of yours hun, its a WC. IT really sux, generally I wash every two days - occasionally they get left for 3- but the WC are the least used of my night nappies too. Will have to email michelle and ask for a new one i think, not worth the postage of sending backwards and forwards!
rayray - yep, what missymoo said - side snappers never line up here on dd - the tummy is always one snap tighter than the leg, thats why they fit so well!
cheeky - yay on mummy coming to visit! I am embarking on cloth mumma pads (when af decides to come back - she can stay away for a while longer quite frankly!) but what got me to buy some was DD's organic bamboo velour nappies - hey if her tushie is too good for plastic well my pinda sure is too! lol
ittis - i change her so frequently in these, probably every 1.5 hours - at least they are getting wear though!
stalking postie - waiting for some lovely babushka things - not fluffy though!
wohb - dark purple itti
Thanks girls, looks like I'd better send them an email. I think it's only one at this stage, but it's one of the newer ones I got during the nappy hunt.
Thanks for the email maz
I am so freaking angry and sad and want to cry and drown my hopes of getting gabbi a
VHF auriel BECAUSE I just went to my friends house to pick something up
and she was showing me her new auriel she got in the stocking recently and I was telling her about the lottery AND SHE WON the lottery I had my name in :( here she was
basking about the new ones she already has and now won another, and she was being pushy. And wantng to buy my multifit nappy becuause bbh has sold out so not only is she getting an other auriel, she wanted my nappy and wanted it at cost!!!!!
Not that I use the multi fits it's for my bhh kit. But still , I told her I would give it to her free if I could have the VHC she just laughed and said " NUH sucker it's mine haha !!"
I'm now sad to the point of crying , mainly coz I'm pre menstural and mainly. Coz she knows of the struggles I have with gabbi and mainly coz of the way she didn't even listen to me and the way she thought it was funny that I missed out :( not really coz of the nappy but it was almost as if she was so proud that I was jealous !
AND Id left gluten free baby food there as i forgot them so I'd made the trip to see her ONLY TO FIND she fed them. To her kids and gave me the flavours that she didn't want NONE of her
kids are gluten intolerant , so she couldtn even be mindful of me or more importantly gabbi !!!
Can't you tell it's ruined my day and I'm feeling hurt :(
The lottery was ment for people who have never had, bought new or second hand an auriel before hon. Contact Lesley and let her know.
What a cow of a friend...especially knowing you wanted one and did that to you :( not happy jan
Kitt#n = phew
will be back...have a little boy who has just discovered how to get out of his cot :o even if it involves hurting himself and wont sleep in his big boys bed :(
Uh Lea? I wouldn't be calling that person my friend!!!! Geez I've had enemies that are nicer!!
And Maz is right about the lottery - definitely get onto Lesley and let her know.
