i love IBF, they always seem to be selling babylegs for cheap but i think i have enough for now (3babylegs, 2 huggalugs). I like the organic ranges better in both brands

kazbah- hope ur DH will get over the fear. i dont see how cloth & sposies r any different. if anything tell him you'll deal with the nappy all he gotta do is change him. Thats how its done in our house: DP doesnt like changing pooey nappies cos they are stink-bombs but he'll do it at the end of the day. He just leaves the nappy near the sink or on top of the bucket & i'll deal with it when i get the chance. Pee ones he doesnt mind pulling apart and putting into the bucket.

rayray- i love ikea, if only i had the money & a house...When we get our house i think most storage would be from ikea! id really like the trofast system

Brigsy's Girl - there is a yahoo group called BABY-CARRIERS-DOWNUNDER - it is FULL of people who love baby carriers/slings/etc and their combined knowledge would be SURE to find you a sling that is suitable for your particular body build/need etc. Lovely group on there

i reckon anyone giving you daggers in church might need reminding, Jesus was breastfed too. i have no idea what women bresatfeeding 2,000 years ago did. no antibiotics for mastitis, no nipple shields for inverted nipples, no ABA to ring up or email for advice! and no formula to use if their milk dried up. i'm glad i live now, not 2,000 years ago.

Marlene - if your boy has a big noggin, i found these most excellent skivvies (for kids with big heads!!), in Myer of all places, but very reasonable price, brand is called MILKSHAKE. they start at size 3 (which bilby is in) so when Jack gets to needing size 3, remember that brand. the neck on the skivvy is SO generous, no screaming is involved, getting those over Miss bilby's enormous noggin.

Maz - i f only you had the confidence in yourself, that everyone else has in you. You can do it !

will have to scope it out Gigi - i will happily say that we got a very happy/contented hour or more in the HAB today - she was fine until she managed to do a very big puke all over us both and wanted out (and a feed!). it was great to get some stuff done! yay! we might have turned a corner...

sanks ladies - i wanted something that could be used for any bubba's we have, and be handed down later to the next generation. my family don't have anything like that, nor did DH's - but bro's kids wore a gown tht was handed down through SIL's family - i liked the idea so went looking for something spesh. i'm in love with it! the only thing it needed to finish it off was a yummy cover so i wasn't flashing a mismatched nappy at everyone so Maz has worked her magic.

anyone who knits, is there a way to learn how to read a pattern (i mean a REALLY simple pattern) without sitting next to a knitter? i can knit and purl, cast on and off, increase and decrease (teach myself from you tube videos etc) but cannot read a pattern to save myself. How do i get to the next step? Would love to knit an entirely PLAIN stitch jumper or vest for bilby, if only i could work out, "how do you learn to read a knitting pattern?". all those K's and numbers, i just go dizzy and blank out. reminds me of maths lessons at highschool (i got U's in maths!!!). that is the worst fail you could get. I need to work out necklines, to make a boat neck or a V, to get over her big noggin.

K means Knit and the number is how many stitches, K2T is Knit 2 together where you put 2 stitches on the needle and knit them together. There is a book at the library that is spiral bound and is VERY good to learn from. It has Knitting written in big writing, but that is not the whole title.

Anyone know the best way to store nappies? I want to pack the day nappies up for the next baby just not sure what's the best way. Was going to put them in a large plastic tub with a lid and maybe put a scrap of bamboo or hemp in the bottom with a bit of lavender on it to keep them smelling fresh?

Should I strip wash them before I put them away? I was thinking it's better to strip wash them now rather than when I get them back out again for another baby. HELP! I want to deal with these today.

I would do a strip wash and get one of those anti moisture things (Hippo is 1 brand) from the supermarket and put them in a sealed box with the moisture thing. At the end of wet season open it up and check them for mould.

I feel like I am a legitimate member of this thread now that Grace is here! She is smaller than expected so we aren't able to use the OSFM nappies yet :(. So I'm hunt for small covers so we don't have to wash every day.

DD refuses to sleep through the day unless she's just fed and is in my arms. heaven forbid i should try to move to be more comfy or put her down to go to the loo! love her to bits, but i need some time out! DH shouldbe home tomorrow for a couple of days, but we have so much to do before the baptism that i'll be in the same position cos i can't afford for him (and his muscles) to be out of commission holding her! sigh...

Youtube Nursing wrap carrier, there are some tutorials for how to do it with the HAB. Still havent mastered them yet but I need to be watching the tutorial while I do it.

I think I am going to go nuts. I am doing a minimum of 16kg of washing per day. 2 loads per day on a GOOD day!! My washing machine had better hang on a little while longer!! It is on it's last legs.

Mt S just needs to be put away. And the ones on the line need to dry. Who would have been thought I would be pushing it to get the nappies all done in time with 80 odd nappies? Mel - Dont get rid of too much!!!

Well Leah has figured out that if she hold on to her poos for 1-2 days she can do a HUGE one and be a bit unsettled until she gets it out, but it is enough to get through a prefold and Maz cover on some occasions!!!

I have discovered that we either need to wash in hot or LS the NB poos. They do stain if done in cold water.

WOLB: Black HH OSFA
WOEB: Pink CT couture
WOSB: Blue with white spots CT Couture.

Ali - i washed our nb prefolds (little squirted first) daily and in hot water (60 degrees), no stains and no sunning required.

when bilbs was two months old, and i was still bent over from the post delivery complications, the washing machine (which was on it's last legs) decided to die. Dh was taking the nappies to a laundromat each night, coming home at 1am, i HATED going without a washing machine for two weeks (until we got a new one). i remember two random MCN people from a local network, offered to do nappy washing for me. That two days of not having to wash nappies, gave me the time/space to go washing machine shopping (when dh was home to drive me, so that meant a Thursday night). we were both exhausted from the laundromat/handwashing/dramas and a nb that wouldn't sleep.

i hope there will be some good "end of financial year" whitegoods specials on for you.

Went to the first session of our "Pre-Marriage Preparation" today. The church we are marrying in makes this course compulsary. $150 to sit there and fill in a 150 question survey which she will compare to DF's answers overnight and we will discuss tomorrow. It's all poop to me.

I'm not buying or selling in here - but am I allowed to ask what's a reasonable price to pay for next to new BBH magicalls?

Got my 3 flattery nappies, 1 pul, 1 cotton outters, all with matching tees and one with hugalugs. The cotton outters are wonderful, Ashton wore it for 4 hours and even napped in it without a leak or wick!

Wow, I didn't realize some people had to pay for that kind of thing. We never had to pay to use our meeting hall, or for the brother marrying us or anything that went along with that, just the reception etc - weddings are so expensive already, that must be annoying!!

Nappy rash has gone!!! Yay!!! I can see one side of the top middle of her gum is noticeably lower then the other so think a little toothy trying to make it's way through must have been the cause of it.

DH put a cover over a cushie tushie this morning :rolleyes: I don't know how many times I have explained the differences between the nappies. He is so confused, just gets cranky as why I have more than one type and although I've explained their different merits he still asks every time he changes her which one to put on. Think am going to have to buy more of one brand so that I have enough for him to use as his nappy so he doesn't have to ask whenever he changes and just a BBH and fleecey cover if overnight. (I could use an excuse to buy more nappies)

Ali - Do the CT's fit Leah now?? How heavy is she, sounds like she's grown? I am interested because Elly was under 6lb born, no idea why. We were 9, 10 & 11lbs born, my mum was 13lbs and my hubby's family all over 8lbs too - I am hoping to grow a fatter baby next time :pray: but just in case I have another scrawnster, am wondering how long it would be before I could reasonably put a newborn into my OSFA CT's and Fitteds?
