I haven't posted in here for sooo long!:redface:

I haven't really had a lot of nappy news...am absolutely loving my Fluffy Bubs, I think they may even be my fave nappy so far :) Although I also love CT and itti bitti...and my newest ones from Ticklefish Tots...they are awesome too!! Oh, who am I trying to kid...I just love them all.

Well, we have been doing cloth for only 3 months now...and I already need to do a cull :redface: I have a few 2nd hand and freebies that I got in the early days that I'm really not using.

Jack slept 13 hours straight last night...woohoooooo. His first full night sleep in 14 months!!! DH was next tpo me coughing all night though, so I still didn't get much sleep.:rolleyes:

im a sun chaser too !! lol , there is sun in my front yard all day but i dont want to put my laundry out there ... esp when pads are drying on there too :redface: shame !!

dont know what happened with lotus ... dee hasnt mentioned it at all ... maybe its a bit of a sore spot .... but there are new stuffs in the pipeline !!

how is a GF NN composed ??? there is the caterpillar one on there and it can be made into a NN for an extra $4-8 .... BUUUTTTT DD is wearing a GF atm and i boosted it with the thinnnest hemp booster (remember the BBH ones ?? ) and now there is serouis leg gape ... i took it out and put it back on her , done up so the tabs meet and there is still leg gape !!! sooooo now me thinks i have to give it a miss ...... i am getting a custom SS off her but now im not so sure ... im am the worlds biggest fan of rolled leg casings or the "frill" around the legs ... and the GF ( along with sooo many other naps ) are just concealed elastic .. so .. im just confuzzled ... BUT this is just another example of how i really mean it when dd's rise is soooo short :lol:a "normal " fitting nappy on any other bub is fine ... but not mine with the tiny giney ..... hehe ... when its bath time i hold her up under her arms and she looks like a frog ..... slim arms and legs but a HUGE pot belly and can hardly see her crotch ... kinda like holding a frog around the neck.... so cute esp when her legs kick around ... anyone get me ???

yeah that'd be cool !! i have 2 of her day nappies and im not too keen on the boosters, i got them before she got "famous " aaaaagggggges ago , so things may have changed ...

Yay hun!!! Now she can take her leave for 9 months and come back as Lochia. Do you need a NB cuddle to give her the flick? Are you coming tonight? I am bringing Leah and only doing dinner (cant go out on the town properly with a NB ;)) but it will be fun!!

I have a lunette and 5 cloth pads, 1 of my own and 4 happy heiny ones. I should make some more but my sewing machine is driving me nuts.

Leah is outgrowing 00000 now so the time is here to get her back into cloth!! I will have her in cloth tonight and leave the rest of the sposies for DH. There is only a couple of days worth of them left. I have also finally figured out the most comfortable and best position for Leah in the HAB!! She is sleeping on me now.

Unfortunately I can't come tonight Ali - DF is working night shift and Grandma can't look after DS as she's not well. Until after her surgery and recovery that is.

I definitely want AF to leave now Ali and I wouldn't mind her staying away for 9 months either ;) Hopefully she's back in full swing and isn't just rearing her head for a tease then disappearing again without reason.

To be honest I'm a bit afraid of cloth pads. I don't really know why? I guess I just don't like the thought of blood and like to throw the disposable stuff in the bin where I don't have to look at it, clean it etc. How do you all handle mumma pads? What do you do with them after use etc., cleaning and all that.

No nappy news. There's one night nappy on the line. DS has been in undies and accident free for 5 days. Can someone tell me why some mothers must be so competitive? I won't name her, but when I mentioned to someone that DS was TTing really well at 22 months all she could say was "*** was fully trained at 18 months". First of all *** has older siblings who they would have learnt from and secondly I know as a matter of fact that *** was wearing nappies when my DS was born and they were 24 old months at the time. Why why why must some mothers be so godamn competitive.

dont know why either ... i know i did feel a bit of pressure now and then , but they get it in there own time and TT is not like its a talent , its a function so it happens when it happens , some mums are toilet nazis and put thier kid on the potty every 2nd minute .. DS started to TT @19 mths but he is now 32 mths and tt cept for over night ... what ever i say .. hope you dont feel too bad about it for too long ... kids arent trophies ... so no kid is better than the next . sad she cant see that ..


well mama pads ... you do have to deal with the blood .. but you get over it ... im not a grossed out person ,not much can shock me , so it was fine for me ..... i just little squirt the pad until the water runs clear and then leave it in a bucket of water to soak till its time to wash ... TMI coming up ... I am wearing my lunette now and it rocks !! i cant feel it at all .. and so easy to insert and soo much better than tampons which i hardly wore coz of the uncomfortableness ...

Are you able to catch up for a coffee on monday CM? Ali - I'll see you tonight but if you wanna catch up on monday too I'll bring River. We can go to GJs at Domain cause its close to you. The lads are at kindy and my prepack is on (but Ryan will be supervising that).

As for TTing competitiveness - it really p's me off. Its just one of those things some kids take to and some dont. I dont see it as an indicator of them being a genius. My eldest is 3 in Sept and he isnt toilet trained. At this stage I could care less (would be nice to have one less lot of nappies but whatever) but if he's 5 and still in nappies then I might have to get tough :lol: He's the brightest kid I know though so it isnt about not clueing in - he just cant be arsed putting in the effort (HELLO DADDY GENETICS ;) ).

Can someone point me in the direction of the cloth pad threads? Silly ole me can't find them.

Lea - you're right. All kids are going to do it in their own time, when they're ready. This person I was talking about is one of the mothers you talk of too, the toilet nazi. Asks her kids if they want to go to the toilet every ten minutes and gets super angry if they had any accidents. Her littlest one who is now 15 months - she's trying to TT now.

I need more sandmans. Anyone want to pass some on? lol

Monday sounds good!! The bigger 2 will be at kindy too and I am sure DH wouldn't mind having a few hours to himself (Paternity leave) and I STILL havent met River!! What time?

Lea and CM - I agree, they all do it in their own time. Who can really be bothered training themselves to put a child on the potty every 2 seconds? They do it themselves. Pushing them to do it sooner only gives you headaches and makes more mess!!

Teru - Lotus nappies.

i scored two medium aio's, one large aio, and two night nappies from Lotus. They were hard to hyena (and now are shut for the moment). I thought they were fantastic, narrow crotch and side snapping, exactly what bilby needed.

i started off using Omo Sensitive and then realised me and dh were reacting to it on our clothes, and bilby was reacting to it in her nappies, so i stood in a supermarket aisle for 30 mins (on my own obviously!) and read HEAPS of "ingredients" lists on various detergent products.

i was looking for products that were free of parabens, optical brighteners, SLS, fragrances, colours etc. The only ones i found that fitted ALL that list, were Ecostore and Aware Sensitive *by Planet ARk). there were a few others that NEARLY met all the criteria, e.g they might have ONE thing on the ingredient list, that didn't rock my world.

So we swapped to using Ecostore or Aware Sensitive (whichever is on special when i buy washing powder), and things markedly improved. I would also like to try the EUCA that Raven mentions.

MCN CAN be wrecked by well meaning rellies - in three years, i have read SO MANY posts about this!

here are some pre-washing ideas for you

- wash all the white stuff together (even if you only do this for the first little while, the amount of lint that comes out of terry fabric is a factor wash all the coloured stuff together

- put fleece covers, fleece pockets, fleece aio's in a zippered bag - avoids lint

- put aplix closing items in a zippered bag - avoids them snagging (not all items have laundry tabs, and i've had laundry tabs come undone in the wash)

- red peapods have a rep for running dye (that's PUL outer)

Gran needs a re-education if she is going to do this.

the Napisan and buckets of water, that she used, IT"S ALL GONE OUT THE WINDOW

cotton flats have been replaced with BAMBOO, HEMP, MICROFIBRE

pilchers ahve been replaced with PUL, WATERPROOF FLEECE, LANOLISED WOOL

so if she is prepared to log onto ozclothnappies and read the FAQ section from top to bottom - yes, let her have a go

if she is not prepared to do that re-education, i wouldn't chance it. the idea about her washign the nappies in nothing but water (or give her a box of ecostore, but she must use a TINY bit of it, e.g one tablespoon per load) is good. but if you have the slightest feelign, she will "know best" adn use Napisan, i wouldn't chance it.

wotbb: finally the bonds boylegs knickers (size 2/3) kinda fit her, so she's actually in knickers today. i ironed on a name label that has a monkey on it, so for her, they are MONKEY KNICKERS!

had a speech assessment yesterday, i will be on tenterhooks for the next two weeks, waiting to hear the results.

major newsflash, my fussy eater, who exists on snacks and purees, for the FIRST time, last night, ate a small portion of scrambled eggs LOVED IT, and a small portion of a cous cous chicken/veg thingy i made. only had a dummy spit when she hit one small cube of chicken meat. Hoping we have turned a corner with this nightly battle.

CM, Ali - 10:30am. CM just sms Ali and she'll fill you in, my reception sucks out here.

thats great news on the food issue Gigi . little ones can out of the blue try something and love it and amaze us !!!

and being a toilet nazi cant really be fun !! DS took ages to poo on the toilet . about 6-7mths after he got wees down pat , so i kept him in nappies untill he could do a poo in the toilet .. out of the blue he told me he needed to poo , so i said "yeah whatever ... off you go then " (coz i was sick of him doing it on the floor and didnt really believe him ) and whaddya know he pooed on the toilet .... !!!!
but it took him a few days until he did it again , and he had a bit of a runny tummy so did about 5 poos in one day .... from then its history ... (oh chocolate as bribery helped too !!! )

and for those who say bribery is wrong , it only lasted 2 weeks of say " come on - lets see if you can do a poo on the toilet , if you do you can have this choc (had it my had for proof) IF you dont do a poo , mummy gets to eat the chocolate " .... it didnt take him long to realise i was serious and did a poo every time , just so i didnt eat the chocolate :lol:

DD had the longest day nap ever and woke up in the happiest mood , and is now laughing at anything , mostly at herself ... hehe so cute ..

WOGB ? skull and cross bones lou lou ..... with from the smell of it - gluten free toast that was lunch !!

Ladies, calling on your collective wisdoms (I'm having trouble doing searches in BB - internet plays up when I try)

What do I need to have in my nappy bag?

I get that there should be:

• nappies (how many in general)
• a wet bag - for the dirty ones
• wipes of some sort (what do you recommend?)
• change mat

What else should I have?
I intend at this stage to BF - so I don't think I will need bottles to worry about for a while (will have to express later for CC)

i think most of us use cloth wipes instead of the disposable ones.

for me, i also had spare breastpads, bibs, hankies, extra change of clothes for bub, packet of tissue, Munchies!! and bottle of water (sometimes)

as for how many nappies...depends on your bub & how long u plan to go out for. i usu only have 2

Gigi - good luck with the speechie assessment for Bilby - is it delayed speech or a speech problem - hope it all works out. Woohoo on finding something she likes to eat - always a battle in our house with DS
