well i have a few fluffy mail on the way and bub has been in cloth in the day for two days and sposies at night. Waiting on a new cover so can use bb bamboo at night.
I do have a question though, I have medium ittis, they work pretty well, except i am getting leg gap, but if i snap them tighter she manages to wet up the front i think it ends up to tight, she has such skinny legs. How do i stop this.

It has been cold and rainy here is SA so i have had a line full of cloth, which is being rinsed again and again. Brought it in tonight on the airer as i have run out.
Thrush has all cleared up and today poos have been back to normal not gusshing out everywhere.
Would love to get a really special looking nappy for birthdays etc, any suggestions
sweetpea- cant help you with the ittis but my DD is the same height weight age as yours(ish) , shes 73 cm 8.3 kgs and 1 this month, such a little pocket rocket BUT shes not skinny shes got the chubbiest thighs and i still get leg gape with ittis , but they are best for her rise ... have you got any snap in boosters , do you think she is a heavey wetter ? Gabbi doesnt out wet her ittis , but i dont class her as a heavy wetter as she wears a bbh minky magic all to bed and shes fine ! apparantley side snapping is the way to go ! but i only have one side snapper and its too big on her :( id love some more but im paying off an itti layby (for fitted itti bitti boos ... they are awesome !!) and maybe then i will get some side snappers !!
the BBH are best on gabbi folded down into the infant fold , and tucking the leg frills in make the nappy trimmer inbetween the legs ....i think there is a FB pic of her with it its on the BBH fan page ..
ETA --- OMGOSH ...... DH just told me to look at nixon ...... hes half naked with a SPOSIE ON !!!! WTFUDGE ... hes day TT so wears undies ... and nappy at night !!! CRAZY WOMAN ...... he looks so stupid in a sposie at his age .. and esp when he TT !!!!!!!!!!!!! i can not figure her out !!!!!
ok so im peed off !!! grrr my mum too nixon overnight , and i gave her a KK to put on him at bed time , she looked at it in disgust , but took it anyway ... THEN she drops him home and tells us how she had a bad night .... nixon wet the bed TWICE .... i was sooo confused how a KK could leak ..... BUT NOOOO she didnt even put a nappy on him !!!!!! she said the KK looked too bulky for him so she didnt put a nappy on .... silly woman !!!! i gave it to her for a reason..... because hes not night trained .... welll i hope shes learnt her lesson ..... i told her i have about 6 KKs for him and he wears one every night and never leaked or complained it was too bulky !!!! next time she can waste her own money on sposies or use what i give her !!! Nixon is in a bad mood today ... and we have a party on today .... gee thanks Ma !!! she could have saved herself so drama .... oh well :)
not a lot of nappy news here - she wears them, she fills them, i wash them, dry them and we start again lol
E had her jabs on Friday and has been a little unsettled in the tummy but nothing too bad. no fever or anything and apart from being a bit more demanding when it comes to food (no patience at all) once each day, we've had no impact at all really! loving it! i was so scared our little poppet would have unsettled sleep, but we got 8+ hours both nights so far

Charmalea, she is definetly not a heavy wetter, she was wearing the bbh bamboo fitted with the large insert at night for 12 hrs and a pul cover no leaks, but now waiting on a larger cover. Question what cover do you suggest over the bbh fitted. She also has one small magical and she can have her avo sleep in and not wet threw it either. looking at getting more but in a medium size. I have 3 mini boosters for the itti bitti but use them when she going down for a sleep. She does not wet out of the to often, i think i pulled it to tight around her waist.
Bub is in sposies today as i wait for her fluffies to dry, really need to keep an eye out for bargins so can get more fluffies.

Lea - sounds like your mum is a little clueless when it comes to cloth. Does she have much to do with the kids at all? Surely she knows he is day trained. Isn't he old enough to tell her? Silly woman lol Gave me a laugh though.
We went to a birthday party yesterday, DS had to dress as his favourite animal. It's stinking hot up here so I didn't want him to wear a big hot costume so I made my own. Here

Fit is a crucial thing with nappies.:
Leg gape means wee and runny poo will escape thru the legs
Tummy gape means wee and runny poo will escape thru the tummy opening
Especially when out of home, and in the carseat, you do not want that leakage!!!
we had exactly the same issue with front snapping nappies (the leg gaping thing). i posted heaps about this with my skinny legged bub, the advice i got from nappycino (forum) , ozclothnappies, (yahoo group) and belly belly , was
- at nb stage - "use covers with leg gussets", stop using pockets and aio's
- from 5kg onwards - "get sidesnapping nappies"
both of these solutions worked for us.
Amazingly, my child changed LATER to a chubby legged baby (4 - 11 months), and STILL the sidesnappers fitted her the best. then she started crawling, slimmed down heaps in the legs (11 months), and STILL the sidesnappers fitted her the best.
the sidesnappers mean you can adjust the waist and legs SEPARATELY.
it's possible to make the legs tighter and the waist looser, if that's what your child needs, at the time.
if i were you, i would make your NEXT mcn purchase a sidesnapper, just so you can try out this theory.
Be aware, most OSFA sidesnappers have a WIDE crotch, most SIZED sidesnappers have a narrow crotch. So if you see "camel toe" in the crotch area, the crotch might be too wide for your bubba.

some people solve this issue (of leg gape) by buying frontsnappers with TWO or THREE rows of snaps on the tummy e.g fluffy bubs, kester kovers. That worked ok for us for night nappies, but not for day nappies.
Another solution that works for some, is to add extra snaps to the Itti bittis, to avoid the wing droop. that requires finding someone near you who has a snap press. People like Beatrix and Nessa can explain this much better than me.
so that's a few ideas for you Sweet Pea, hope i haven't confused you.
stuff like - what STYLE - what TYPE OF CLOSURE - what RISE - of nappy will suit your bub, part of that is the initial trying nappies on your bub, in the first part of using MCN. that is why so many of us say "dont' buy a gazillion of any one type immediately", cos it can take time to work out what style DOES suit your bubba. (Then it's safe to go buy a gazillion of one sort).
e.g it took me 12 months to work out, bilby needed
- narrow crotch
- sidesnapping
- medium rise
- mainly sized nappies e.g size 2 (that fitted 8 - 16kg) instead of OSFA
nappies.
Once i had that sussed, i stopped buying stuff that didn't fit her. (i was a slow learner).
wotbb: monkey undies size 2/3 (big w near us, have heaps in stock, for those finding it hard to source little undies, two packs for $10). all other knickers at target/kmart/bigw size 2/3, too big in legs for bilby, only these monkey bar ones fit her - they have a "boy leg".)
bilby is addicted to So You Think You Can Dance, her daddy downloads episodes and takes out all the ads, we just caught her trying to do the splits in front of the telly! and she's suddenly mad about skirts that go "whizzy".
Gigi thanks for that info, I have been leant a few side snappers and she leaked more lol. I like the ittis, and it has only happend a few times. She doesn't get in wing drop in them, also she fits minkie magicals so going to try a few of them to, even though they are not really narrow they seem to fit.
She fits the small itti bittis realy well, so think she just needs to grow into the medium a bit more.
But will keep an eye out for a few other types of sidsnappers and try them.

Caddie - I love my GK - but they are VERY wide in the crotch - so keep that in mind.

wotbb: blueberry trainers and longies (she's been dry at night for around a fortnight now).
Happy Babes have got a great baby socks special on at the moment.
caddie - not a fan of GK too wide and too big all over on DD .
Sweetpea- ittis and BBH are my faves they work the best , ittis for day and BBH at night , with the BBH fitteds , i use longies as a cover or a MAL cover (if its a singlet and nappy weather) BUT the BBH and other covers i have tried are all too big on lil tiny tush ... so PUL covers are my back up , other wise im pressed to find a good cover .. a small BBH cover is a good fit on DD but i dont have any left (cept whats in my demo kit)
if anyone can reccomend a good cover ??

Gigi - Since it's so hot here I tried to make the costume a bit lighter. The bumble bee was home made as well by the little girls grandmother.

Hi girls! Aagh I went back to work today! I missed my baby girl soooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!Came home to find DH had used sudocream with the cloth tho..grr. How do I wash them to get it out?

who else hates snaps rubbing up on bub? it really annoys me.
her swaddlebees OSFM are now on the largest size - a little high on the rise but that's the only way to ensure her tummy is snap free!

that's a bit confusing to read Lea, can you clarify for me:
first you say

then you say the opposite
"a small BBH cover is a good fit on DD"
so i'm confused.
A "good"
cover depends on a few things.
what you need it to do (shortwears e.g daytime, or longwears e.g night)
what it needs to go over (prefolds, fitteds or flats)
what crotch width suits your bub (from your post, i'd say narrow)
what rise suits your bub (you need to measure your bub for that)
what closure suits you and your bub (you would need to tell me that)
any aesethetic choices e.g do you need plain colours or want purty prints to show off?
what do you have already, that is working? (e.g you mention the Maz covers fit her well, so i'd keep going with what works also).
lifestyle/family factors - e.g how much time you have in the laundry, out of home alot, home alot, whether you need to aim for easycare (PUL and fleece) or can manage the handwashing/lanolising of pure wool. or a mixture.
there are SO many good covers out there, it's more a matter of working out "what are MY criteria? what do i need them to do?" and narrowing the field from there.
when you first mentioned "tiny tush", straight away, i thought "has she tried any NB sized covers" is the SMALLS are too big? but it depends WHAT nappy is underneath them. e.g a flat nappy is bulky and would need a SMALL cover, more than a NB cover.
so without knowing what your specific needs are (for miss tiny tush), hard to say.
i had a Miss Tiny tush for the first four months, i remember doing lotsa research on tiny covers too! i had a 10x a day runny explosive poop kinda gal, and i'm telling you it came out with AMAZING force, so MY criteria started out being "what looks cute" and QUICKLY changed to "what stops volcanic eruptions style poops and is leakproof 100%", within a very short time of tiny bilby being on this planet.
Those little chicken legs! hard to get "leg seal" without the right sized covers. i had bought ONLY small covers during my nesting time, so of course, we had leg gape galore and it was leak city EVERYWHERE until i bought her newborn sized covers. then the leaks stopped - it was like MAGIC. wot a relief.

Im miffed :( I put my nappies in the dryer to decrunch after bieng outside..and my only second hand auriel..my turtle one is f'curried :(...the front snap got caught in the dryer lip and from turning round and orund it cut through the fabric and has made the biggest mess....I could cry but as Jed said thank god it was that one and not one that we paid full price for.

AFM - i'm feeling rather happy today - a friend found out yesterday she's going to be a grandma early next year - her first question to me was "so, when you bringing some nappies over so we can convince the kids to go cloth?" i was so happy! i've never really mentioned MCN's to her so i'm assuming between the photos on FB and the comments on the funky cover at E's baptism, she's converted herself. she was looking at some on Ebay last night but I asked her not to buy til she'd checked with me cos she might end up with dud's. the ones she was looking at were pretty uninspiring (bushpig nappies or something - the name put me off!) - so i said we'd look at them together - and i have to go visit when her son's GF is there so we can talk to her and show some nappies off. i'm impressed!
E is mostly in flats and covers at the moment unless we go out somewhere - i just figure for a few more days after her rotavirus vac, we're better using work horse nappies that i can wash and dry in a hurry

:lol: Shelley - I do the same thing. I use my ebay fitteds and covers so often as I'm just at home and don't want to use my prrrty ones - I caught myself doing it the other day and made myself snap out of it cuz it's winter and no-one sees da prrrty ones even when I'm out so made myself use them.
