mornin ladies
just popping in to say that i hope Maz got some more sleep last night - i've had a couple of long hours awake each night the last couple of nights. miss E is waking cos she has pains (happens when you don't poop for ummm 6 days now) - she is very gassy as a result and just really unsettled - she's only sleeping properly when co-sleeping - which we prefer not to do as both DH and I are huge peoples! we ended up caving after two hours this morning though - slept her up between our pillows until DH got out of bed and then moved her to his side of the bed...

BG - oh hon..I hope she poo's soon. We co-slept with all the kids and you know im not small and nor is jed....I was so scared so squishing Mateauz when we first had him and came home from the hospital...he was so little and sick...thank god I did hey otherwise ....I cant think of that :(

my god my kid has had something crawl in his nappy and DIE. Jed laughs at me cause i was his pooh smells like its got moth balls in it...its horrid!!!!!

WOMB - nudda - jed just wipes the shiat from it

Maz - i am a very light sleeper most of the time - i can hear E (she is barely feet from me in her bed) - DH is a very very heavy sleeper - given his job though, it doesn't surprise me - when he gets into a decent bed, he sleeps. I co-sleep for part of the night with E every night when i'm alone - we just don't do it so much with DH home. i think he is getting better now he's been home for a few weeks though - he wakes to her the same as i do - and he has stopped trying to snuggle me close in his sleep (it was a very unconscious thing and that's why we didn't co sleep cos bubba would have to be between us!) - he is still better if she's not in the bed with us - when she is, he tends to lay there startin in awe at her still - and then i lay there watching his fascination... at least she gets sleep lol

WOEB - same as before - she only just got out of bed - lazy little troll!

oh bloody Nora BG.....I just got tears in my eyes then....I rememeber that feeling...how gorgeous the 2 of you are

shhhhhsh aunty maz! we're just parents - i'm sure lots of people do it!

only one more week til you get to meet miss E! yay! can't wait! (more excited about lunch on Sunday than my cousin's reception Saturday night - ooopsie!)

Maz, I leave for Melbourne town on thursday, which is cloth nappy shop day. We may drop in on the way through to the airport, but then, maybe not. There is an event up here on the 8th of november that I will be going to.

We dont get panandol staining, I dont know why, but have used ittis on purpose, just to see if i would get marks, but, nope.... I am glad, I have seen photos, not pretty.

If anyone is after some cheap nappies, Bambooty has 35% (i think) off for 5 days, I havent tried these but have heard good things, the fast dry ones have gussets, so good for pooplosions. Just be aware that the sizings, apparently are on the small side, so Bimboo, may be good for you with the twins, gusset nappies for 16 odd bucks...

anyone ever given poop an eviction notice? i'm seriously considering it! hearing my poor bubba strain as she tries to go to sleep - so sad! i know it's normal for BF babies to not go for days - but when she does goes, it's so messy! how the hell does it not come out??

anyhoot - enough whinging - Maz, i'm sure you'll have a boot load of stuff to bring - that's what happens when you make good stuff - people wanna use it! there hasn't been a day since E left hospy that we haven't used a cover and blanket from Aunty Maz - it's just a shame she is starting to grow out of so many of the nb ones!

WOEB - pink magicall - thinking i might have to put MAL covers over all her nappies until this explosion happens - i have a feeling it's gonna be a wee bit messy!

BG - oh I hear you!! Susie went 8 days a couple of weeks ago and decided to go whilst I was changing her nappy. I swear I stood there for a good 10 minutes whilst she pooped I cleaned up she pooped etc etc. pretty foul smelling but she was sooo much happier after! shes still only going 1 - 2 a week but hopefully itll sort itself out soon. am guessing its just adjusting to solids! hope your lil one goes today!! just keep trying the massage and drinking pear juice yourself and hopefully that'll help!

I've come down with the full blown cold...we were up 3 till 5:30 this morning with Susie, wind seems to get worse when she has a cold..makes sense, cant breathe, therefore more breathing through mouth when feeding! I should be sleeping atm but I cant. just relaxing. all I've done is wash and hang up nappies today lol. I'm still in my jamas too lol

BG, sugar and water?
I know they say it is normal for bubs both BF and FF to not do poos for days, but my kid is much happier if he poops once a day, so by the time he gets to 48 hrs, we do the sugar and water, this prob only happens once evry 6 weeks or so, but a teaspoon of brown sugar in 50 mls of water works wonders for us.
Also, I have noticed that now that he is older and we are including water in a sippy cup in his routine, we get very regular poos, esp as solids back him up a bit.

No real nappy news, hopefully my babyhosen will be here tomorrow.

Mrs C, have you tried one of those vicks vaporiser thingies? I have heard awesome things about them, I think they are about 50 bucks, but am guessing you will get good use of it for years. I have been meaning to get one for when lil man gets his first snotty nose.
Also, I read and have been told by my pharmacist that the BEST thing for a cough is to rub vicks on their feet (a fair bit) and put socks over and apparently it fixes it instantly.
A little miracle right on the soles of your feet :pray: halleluja(sp), He he, I have been waiting for someone i know to get a cough so I can try this one out....

SHell your right..I rub vicks on my feet when ive got a cold and a headache even....works a treat...and I have a vapouriser for my kids.....helps them breath at night and makes the house smell yummy

I cant believe it....its not even 5 and my nappies are all dry :dance: gotta love this weather

sigh - it rained here today so the nappies are, once again, drying inside. so glad our rumpus room gets good sun and is warm!

got some fluffy mail coming my way a magicall a berry plush and two baby safari nappies my mum went to the casey nappy expo for me lol and it was the first time shes done something like that she told me she was so embarassed coz she didnt want to ask questions shes so funny sometimes i probably should have gone with her i love my mum :)

well, yeah i'm on a ban - but i knew about Maz' breast cancer fundraising thing and had budgeted part of baby bonus for it this week - high chair and BC stuff. it's not JUST that it's purddy (cos it's definitely that) - I am very very close to one of my Aunt's who has recently gone through the fight with breast cancer. she is, as far as i know, in remission now - but it's made it very personal for me - so buying this stuff was important to me... and i know my Aunt will love the pics (she's only been able to see miss E once as she lives in QLD now)

Though I might make an appearence back in here since I am soon to have a newborn in cloth for the first time (Matilda had to wear yucky sposies in hospital for the first 3 months), I think that I am ready, I have heaps of fitted and some covers thanks to Ange, some small ittis for when she is big enough and the lovely Maz is making some prefolds and covers, I can't wait! Then she can move on to Matildas stash once she is a little bigger.

Just recieved some large itti bitti seconds (Matilda was doing a good job at missing the nappy and weeing down her let :dunno:), I forgot how soft and fluffy they were brand new! mine are in great condition to.

Anyway, I am sure I will be back, especially once Annabelle arrives for tips on newborn cloth.

Oh and congrats BG on winning the auction, it is such a beautiful set!

Sorry to hear about your aunt, maybe you and Mr BG and Lil E can come to Qld to visit her and - YAY- visit me too!!!
I have had to put fluff in the drier for the first time in months. Cause YEAH YEAH, we got rain. Not much, but enough to make the grass go green again.
Its wonderful to live in sunny QLD, but by mid october we are all begging for the wet to come back.

Yay BG for winning the Maz set. It was a bit small for me to even bid this time.

Well last night I went through our stash and I have over 70! (I know that's proably small potatoes to some on here ;) ) Good thing was I found I have some to go to a new home if someone knows of anyone and some to sell. Heaven help me if the next baby is a boy!!!

we were planning a trip for early next year before the weather turned too sour (and i have to go back to work) - but it's all fallen in a heap with DH losing his job. my Aunt came down for E's baptism, and will be back for her son's 40th early Dec - so miss E is FORBIDDEN to grow out of smalls before then! lol want to show up in the cover, singlet, bib - with her little blankie - just for my Aunt.

DH is sitting on the floor with E at the moment and she's trying to go again - poor poppet! we've done some tummy massage and cycling her little legs - lots of extra gas - nothing more. sigh. tomorrow while daddy is at work, if she hasn't been already, we're going to do a loooooong bath then massage - maybe a couple of times. she hasn't had a bath at all for a couple of weeks cos she prefers to shower with Daddy (weird kid!), so we throw her in there all the time - glad she likes showers cos it's heaps easier for me too

WOEB - cream itti. we've run out of ittis now - not sure what else has that fit on her still - damn her being in between sizes! told DH earlier i was going to put something with leg gape galore on her - he asked why - and i told him it was a guaranteed way to induce a poospolsion lol

I'd say definitely put her in the bath BG - whenever Miss M hasn't pooped for a while - as soon as I put her in the bath she lets go.. which isn't very nice for Aricyn if he is sharing with her.. he gets a bit hysterical.. hehehehe

Um no nappy news. Got my DM's on Friday - noice noice. Looooove them. Such a good fit on both kids.

BG what we used for DD was the Brauers stomach calm. Awesome homeopathic stuff from the chemsit. It works for an upset tummy or constipation. Its awful when they in pan.

ETA A bath is a good idea too!

Oooo yeah and it's better for the environment, you can colour coordinate and they look uber cute.

No fluffy mail on friday like i hoped as was 34 degrees and DRY. nappies and inserts dried in 3 hours! back down to 20s this week so I have to wait longer to try out her new fluff after prewashing :doh:

LOL! I have a silent pooing baby but I know her look and cry when she's done. stopped checking her bum when she smells because usually only farts making the smell and she lets me know the SECOND she's finished a poo with distinct cry. DP being a sweety this morning offered first nappy change and promptly went off to do so and here i was lying in bed waiting for the reaction about him opening up a nappy with 3 days poo in it. didn't i giggle. a mum knows when NOT to offer a nappy change if her partner volunteers first! :lol:

WOCB: BBH hot pink smooth nappy and she's NOT HAPPY. she hates them because she has problems rolling in them!

Next time Emerald is blocked up, have you ever tried GRIPE WATER on her? you can get the brand WITH tiny percent of alcohol (bilby hated that one) and the one with zero alcohol (that was the one we kept buying), and truly, one dose of that (syringe it in, bilby licked the syringe like it tasted nice LOL), and gurgle gurgle gurgle stomach, then 2 mins later - poop happened.

i saw the gripe water for sale at chemists and woollies. but we only bought the one with the tiny percent alcohol once, bilby screwed up her face in disgust at the taste of that one.

the only reason bilby and i were able to co-sleep, was that her dad slept on the couch. we co-slept for the first year. Now she comes into my bed around 2am each night and co-sleeps until breaksfast.

Maz, i have been hearing about the nappy making workshops in Perth, Melb and Brissy for the last three years, and i always feel a touch envious too. would loved to have gone to one. Me with my cupboard of mcn making fabrics that don't get used! by the time i get my confidence up, i'm sure bilby will be old enough to vote ha ha.

JJ - how lovely of your mum to go to the nappy expo for you, did you send her with a "shopping list" or did she pick what she bought, off her own bat?

Hi all, just thought I'd stick my head in here. DS is part time cloth and am planning on going full time soon especially when number 2 arrives. So far my stash includes some magicalls, BBB's with covers, a greenkids, a bambineo (?) and a couple of peapods which are my least fave out of what I have. I've also orderd a couple more from Arimeh's closing down sale the other day, so looking forward to getting my first lot of fluffy mail in a long time. :)

Susie sleepy but thiscold has madeher extra windy so taeslonger till she can go to bed. shes been crying almost nonstop for an hour so gave her panadol and that seems to have helped...she was prob achy too poor love. vicks on her feet seemed to help. she only coughed once during the night which woke us but not her! desperate for sleep myself, 11 4 and 6:30-7:30 wasnt enough!

Eluned - woohoo way to go :) I still dont understand why ppl wouldnt want to go cloth, doesnt really make that much work! I dunno if Im super sensitive or something, but twice I've been around a bub who wee'd in a sposie and I nearly wass sick from the smell! I love my cloth!!

Welcome Eluned & Daintree Dream. I'm pretty new here too to so watch my posts for the silly newbie questions!

BG glad that Emerald has things in motion now. We are having poop dramas with DS Will too. He's actually backed up quite badly poor little guy. The sugar & water trick works for us as a last resort. He tries so hard and nothin happens :( we're just trying to get extra water into him during the day cos his poos are starting to form, they're not runny IYKWIM?

Gigi - haven't contemplated a little squirt as yet, I'm still yet to convince myself that its a necessary purchase :redface: but seems like lots that use MCN have one, so I might need to cave. I can't wait to see how the Whizz Kidz fit. Have you used their night nappies at all?

Well my nappies dried outside in record time yesterday, thanks to the glimpse of sunshine we got. Back to a week of bone chilling winds though :doh: so inside in front of the heater i think

And I thought I'd give a big clap to my DP - i was showing him the fluff on Sat when I put it on Will's butt for the first time, and he was asking Q's like "how much does a box of sposies cost?" and then "how much does one of the fluffies cost?" and smart boy (thats why I luff him so much) says well, one MCN pays for itself pretty quickly then doesn't it. So now he can't whine when I buy more fluff AHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Gigi, I didn't get the chance to nest with DD so I think I am in overdrive this time, I am so excited.

Matilda has been full time cloth since she came home from hospital so I know all of the ins and outs, just never had a newborn in fluff so that is all new to me, but I am sure it isn't to different, we just had the pleasure of going to AIO's and pockets and missed the pre-fold and flats stage...

rhyb, the only covers I use are Maz's (I have other but I can't go back after using Maz's, they are backups now), I believe that she is having a stocking some time in October, I am lucky enough to have placed a custom order with her and have some beautiful matching 'big sister' 'little sister' covers coming :dance: can't wait!
Alot of people love the Motherease Riki covers also, I have not used them personally but I know they are highly recommended for newborns.

That sounds beautiful DD the matching covers will be so cute :)
