I do LOL I have noticed the same in DD since you mentioned it... glad I knew of it before doing cloth overnight

I had forgotten just how fast this thread moves... Howdy everyone! I feel like a stranger in town.
Can I just say that I REALLY miss my little squirt!! This is getting ridiculous! The replacement part was supposed to have been sent last week, and I've already received stuff from NZ that I ordered after it. Grrr... DS is practically potty trained for poohs, but things have been chaotic and he's "forgotten" how to communicate (much like his dad...) and even rinsing the potty without the LS is annoying!
rhyb - awww... I sent all my NB covers to lilprecious just before I left Melbourne, and I don't even know if she's using them anymore.
maz - I just had a thought about dryers munching snaps... would it be possible to put the damp/cold/crunchy nappy in a pillowcase or something similar before chucking it in the dryer? I haven't got a dryer, so maybe that's a really stupid idea. But it might work??
um, I was gunna add more but DS is shrieking like nothing I've ever heard before, and I better go investigate before the neighbours call the cops!
WOAB: GNST, MAL custom cover
 I am so smart, I am so smart
Ok that was probably a bit of an overreaction but... I folded my first nappy today and actually put it on DD (as opposed to just folding it up, deciding it wasn't right, folding it again, still not right and grabbing a prefold or BBH). She needed changing 20mins after I put it on her because she had done her morning pee (yep totally get it now thanks BG!) but it was ok because I folded yet another nappy and put it on her.
WOCB: Flannel flat with MAL Sage Dot Minky cover
well done tk!
I know I am a bit silly most of the time LOL
DD is a peeing machine today!!
WOCB: Spunky butt with MAL pot of gold cover (in Med so big on her it is snapped back over on itself almost... panic I just realised I have no MAL small covers... I go from NB to Med size.. oops! How on earth did I let that happen! Fingers crossed I can get some at the next stocking)
well, my nappies are getting a work out today, poor dd is sick and has been chucky and now it is the other end, she actually managed a poopexplosion out of her magical over night. YUCK is all I can say.
So today I have her in her ittis with another cover over just in case. I still to find a nappy that seals realy well around her legs, even covers with cussets don't. Itti's work most of the time just not when it runny.
I weighed her this morning she is 8.8kilos at 15.5 months dame skinny child of mine she is about 75cm tall. So still a little tacker. I can nearly cross her ittis over when snapping them.
WORB itti of some colour with a bumwear cover
Oh good someone with a smaller child than mine!! I get sick of mine being the skinniest.. LOL..
I don't think Miss M has hit 10kg yet, but she's probably at least 80-85cms tall - so she's just a stringbean. Hard to get nappies to fit properly when they are that skinny and long cos they always outgrow the rise, but bigger nappies are too big!!! And don't start me on how hard it is to get a good leg seal!!! arghh!!!!
The best nappies I have found are by far the side snapping nappies - like dragonfly magik and things like that -they are awesome fit.
Likewise. Mine pees so much I asked the health nurse if it was ok last checkup and she had a giggle!
TK great job on the folding, I'd be proud too!
Sweetpea- hope your dd feels better.
NaNa- yes, the thread does move fast and sometimes I have to devote 40odd mins to try catch up. hope your little squirt part comes soon!
Gigi- yeah 2 hours is max for charlie's nappy. 2.5 if I head into town but that's the limit!
Still waiting til my CT seconds arrive. been over a week. Slack aus post
WOCB:-Cushie Tushies Tangerine (safety shirt orange!)
I have the itti on Susie again but I'm just not impressed with it. it just doesnt look 'safe' ya know? if she does a pooh theres nothing to stop it lol! but it is super cute lol.
Fluffy mail arrived thanks Helen!! looking forward to trying it out :)
ZOMG FLUFFY MAIL! 1 Giraffe print, 2 pink camo and an angel dots Cushie tushies! Charlie was cuddling them!
The postie definitely thinks I'm nuts now. She noted how hyper I was!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Oh dear, I think I need help!
eeeewww poosplosion at last. It was revolting! Now I wish I had a little squirt!
waiting for some fuzzibuns to arrive, and got a IB and Ishfly in the mail yesterday, sooo nice!
But fred has changed shape from skinny to chubby, what are good nappies for that shape? I have side snappers, are they good?
WOGB - mauve swaddlebees SS pocket
we LIVE our side snappers in this house :D BEST fit on Jacko....
I am awaiting 2 GF side snappers 2 embroidered FB's 1 FB NN 1 AT side snapper embroidered and pants from a co-op i am in :) can't wait for the postie to arrive soonish....
oh other news...99% sure in 4 weeks time i am going to be a fulltime SAHM....MIL problems AGAIN...soo now thanks to her i have to give up work...YAY!!! for me but boo for the loss of $$$$
:hiding: peek-a-boo!!
Mel - CONGRATS!!! number 4 will be here before you know it!! pink vibes!!!
Well I am glad I bought lots of little nappies. Leah is still in our smalls and nb prefolds and maz covers, but Maz she fits her M LL perfectly and can outwet it!! she is 5.5 kilos at 4 months!!! still in some 0000 but mostly 000.
We are going to travel with cloth this christmas!! sposies for the drive coz i wont have washing machine access for a week each way, but clothing when we get South. So who wants to catch up in Adelaide?
I'm nearly ready to put Em in knickers and carry the potty around the house. she does 1 wee and then wants a change so we are going through nappies like no tomorrow, and some of our leg elastics have died.
We found the cause for Em's never healing NR!!! She has a genetic skin condition from FIL, so we just need to keep going as we are. I found another good barrier cream that doesnt clog the nappies too, the A'kin one rubs in clear and doesnt rub off on nappies!! very happy with that.
WOLB: SB? and MAL retro dots cover.
WOEB: probably nothing now but it was a CT Basix
Alioops which cream is it???
A'kin protective bottom balm. it is water based, has zinc, shea butter, vitamin E, pro vitamin b5. almost everything has a botanical source.
jsut got back from MCHN and think i know why not happy with the itti bitti fit...susie is 5.99kg...I could have sworn she was well over 6 by now! guess the medium is just too big still lol!
the GK looks good on so see how it goes :) definitely like the bamboo boosters over microfibre boosters. just one question...most pockets seem to have microfibre/suedecloth next to bubs skin, is that likely to cause her any irritations? to date shes been used to bamboo terry next to her skin. but then shes got a cold at the moment and teething a bit so the red dry rash shes got could be related to that too...its not overly sore looking just itchy atm which makes me wonder if it could be from the non-natural fibres!
Fuzzibuns arrived today too! have got it in the wash. just looking at it I'm amazed at how adjustable it is! wow! looking forward to trying it out :)
OMG Ali..poor baby hate skin conditions on kids.
Quite funny...I was sitting here thinking aobut how you were going and then BANG you post
HOlly crap at Leah outweeting her LL omg woman what are you giving her
I might have to go get some of that blam for my shingles....I got osme of the pawpaw in the orange tube but its still owies :(
Mrs C - havent tried a Fuzzy.....let me know how it goes.
*great Vy is feeding me choclate chips cookies as I type...must resist...noooo*
Kat chick...check your FB messages :D
After 5 nights of a barley wet NN maz is thinking of getting rid of them.....whats the point of having a heavy butt if he doesnt need it...so going to try a boo tonight and see how 'wet' it is in the morning. Typical isnt it...just as Im almost ready to make him some on my own NN
WOMB - Mazzy - Cat in a hat AI2
So glad i dont use hook and loop closure nappies on dd, have had cover over her ittis, as she has been sick and wanted extra protection agains poopexplosions and she just undoes it her slef, though she doesn't get the snaps undone.
WORB itti and bumwear cover
aww Maz! no fair on him not needing your NN anymore! that's just not right! don't your kidlets realise their mummy neeeeds them in cloth a bit longer (only for wees - poops can go in the loo - icky! lol)
well, i put E's NN on last night - the small fit beautifully, but the small cover didn't go over it and DH just couldn't work out where the M's were (silly bugger!) - so we took the mega boosting out given she has been waking in the night anyway - it was enough - but ONLY cos she woke for a feed after 5 hours - must drag out bigger covers for LL soon
not that she's a big bubba - i'd say she's just over 6kg now 0 might have to work out how to get a rough weight at home - MCHN too far away and too busy to go there JUST to weigh when she seems healthy enough anyway
WOEB - yellow itti
BG - do you have a good set of normal, digital scales?? I shower with DD most nights as can't deal with the back twisting of a bath, so every now and then I just step on the scales ne-ked get my weight, then grab my ne-ked little bubba and gives me a pretty good idea of her weight by how much more I weigh.
Oooh, I orderd a Med Nappy Knickers off GF and they are fantastic - they're supposed to start from 12kgs but I tried them on DD (because her wiggling and rolling is driving me BONKERS when changing her - what do you mummies do to stop that??) And they seal so nicely around her waist and leg already that even though there's lots of space in them they fit already which was good because I can get them on her standing which she's a little more willing to do
So I'm going to order 4 more  - Hey, I figure I've got an excuse to order more nappies now there'll be another bub using the current stash - I simply MUST expand it, what choice do I have :D (Don't know if DH will buy into that but Meh!)
Alioops - You're back! Hope your break was refreshing.
our scales are crap (but that could be cos we're huge!) - might see what i can do at mum's - apparently she has wizz bang scales...
Sarah - we have 7 pairs of GF night nickers...love them!!!! I was lucky enough to get them secondhad at $8 each  but knowing how well they woek id be happy to buy them new
ROFL BG.....no mediums...hmmm hon what to do, what to do ;)
For those who are interested.....CInderella's stash are going to be doing a breast cancer fundraiser at the murasakimama stocking next week
i think we have a couple of mediums but not so many as we did nb and small (which is ok, cos we won't be using flats so much lol)
Whoo hoo - after my panic attack that I didn't have any small MAL covers I managed to pick some up at the nappy bucket!!
Still hoping to get some @ the stocking though
WOCB: prefold (that I seem to have dyed a nice purple cover after doing the prewash with my unwashed coloured spew nappies ) and ice blue dot minky MAL cover
at least it's a nice purple TK!
 TK...I agree with Bg...atleast its pretty now :)
Hey Ali, missed ya.
BG, dont weigh your bubba, I did mine yesterday and he is in the bottom 25 so now I m sad :(
Then I just read Mrs C's post and my kid weighs more than hers and she is a day older, so now I am confused :)
Off to melb 2moro, not taking much fluff, meant to be cold (shock horror!) so no point in any of the showy ones and they will prob take ages to dry, so just some pop ins and tri folds and my GK bamboo boosters, prob only enough for 10 changes, 5 per day so will prob ending up using some sposies.
Gotta run, still packing.
God help you poor women that pack up families of 3 and 4 kids...
WOLB, in bed for the night, sposie :(
LOL too true BG & Maz, too true
what i tried to post last night at 1.30am
Yes TK, you ARE smart. i failed "flats 101", so you are my new heroine.
MrsCAussie
"the GK looks good on so see how it goes :) definitely like the bamboo boosters over microfibre boosters. just one question...most pockets seem to have microfibre/suedecloth next to bubs skin, is that likely to cause her any irritations? to date shes been used to bamboo terry next to her skin. but then shes got a cold at the moment and teething a bit so the red dry rash shes got could be related to that too...its not overly sore looking just itchy atm which makes me wonder if it could be from the non-natural fibres!"
after reading that, this is wot popped into my skull
1. Greenkids have an inner layer of suedecloth
2. Most pockets have microFLEECE (not microFIBRE) or suedecloth as the stay dry layer.
Yes, that is 100% synthetic and some bubs react ONLY to suedecloth,
some bubs react to ANY synthetic fabric next to their skin (bilby did this from 14 months onwards).
3. a way to test this out, is to put your bub in nothing but NATURAL fibres against her skin for a day. Observe.
put your bub in nothing but SUEDECLOTH inners against her skin for a day. Observe
put your bub in nothing but MICROFLEECE inners against her skin for a day. Observe.
Stop using whatever she reacts to.
If your bub reacts to synthetic inners - there is a compromise - you could LIE INSIDE her nappies, natural fibre liners.
If she rashes everywhere the liner isn't, then you'll need to go further, e.g put in her in nappies with natural fibre inners/synthetic outers.
ANd an option further from that, is to put her into natural fibre nappies inside and out, with wool soakers for the waterproof bit. i had to go to that extent for bilbs. then after a few months, i gradually got her back to natural inners/synthetic outers. and to tolerate a staydry liner in her night nappy.
when i was totally fixated on fixing nappy rash (bilby had a REALLY bad outbreak at 14 months), i tried SO MANY things, and realised, it's not ONE thing that causes it, i was trying so many things, i couldn't wait to try ONE thing for a day and observe, i was so anxious to make her feel better. It was a combination of many things, that people advised me on, so i went about changing
- how i washed the nappies (washing powder, the amount used, long rinse cycle)
- how i changed bilby (patting her bottom dry with a dry facewasher, after cleaning her, leaving her bott naked for a few minutes to "air" the skin
- what fabrics i put next to her skin (avoiding synthetic once i worked out she did react to that)
- made new liners from natural fibres (flannelette and cotton velour)
- made sure i read the ingredients list on any product i put on her skin (bath stuff, hair stuff, rash stuff, EVERYTHING)
so it wasn't One Solution, rather a whole raft of things.
Ryatha
sidesnapping mcn fitted my child
- when she had chicken legs
- when she had three rolls of fat on each thigh
- when she slimmed down (once crawling/walking started)
that's why i think they are SO adjustable
cos my baby REALLY tested them out, by changing shape ALOT.
but she is also short
only hit 86cm when over 2.5years old.
A
Alioops - i've been wondering where you've been hiding! Bilbs and i would love to catch up with you and meet the newest member of your girl tribe at xmas.
Good work on finding a cream that helps Em's skin. what a relief that must be (for both of you!).
all i can say is baby safari stuff and snap i only washed them once and its lasting since 12 yay it might last till his lunch at 2
WOJB: baby safari stuff and snap light blue
Aww thanks Gigi
Mmm question... do you think DD is becoming more aware of the urine next to her skin in changing over from sposies and it is waking her? I have noticed since we started in cloth during the day that if she goes down for a sleep in cloth she usually wakes after 20-30mins but if in a sposie she will sleep for approx 2 hours. At first I thought it was a stage she was going through of catnapping... she did catnaps all day one and two which were cloth days then slept longer at night when in sposies. The longer night sleeps aren't out of the ordinary for her so it could have just been that she wanted the longer sleep but then day three when she was in cloth it was catnaps again and then we had no cloth dry that would fit her so I put her in a sposie and she slept longer (just over 2 hours) do you think it was just luck she slept longer or is being wet waking her? Each time she wakes from the cat naps she is either wet or dirty.
Hope that long question makes sense LOL
WOCB: sposie - I am trying out my sleep theory again (so far she has been asleep for 50mins)
TK - depends what nappies they are - most of mine have the "stay dry" layer against their butt so unfortunately - mine are both just shocking sleepers.. LOL
Aus post just rocked up and I have my multifits!! They look great cant wait to try em out on DS! Thanks Lea  Eeeek Im off to my ultrasound BBL
TK - could be. just make sure you have stay dry inners.
FAK
Gigi - i want to go to ikea at some point and get more trains and a roll of drawing paper while we are down there, maybe we could meet there? I will have my mumma bus coz we are driving down so will have a bit more space this time than in SIL's daihatsu charade.
BG - our scales have died. I use the wii fit if I cant get somewhere with scales and i want to see how much the kids weigh. Leah gets monthly home visits anyway though so I dont worry about her with the amount she pees.
I am looking forward to mid november, checking out the other MCN in town at an expo. should be a great weekend.
Arimeh - at the moment it is all prefolds or flannelette flats/terry flats with covers... I do use a "chux" (our name for a nappy liner) to make the poo situation easier. She did wear a spunky butts and a cute tooshie (I think it was that) and same thing happened. She doesn't fit into the small ittis or green kids or other MCNs that I have.
Ali - what kind of inners are stay dry?
TK - Microfleece and suedecloth. I use liners when I have non water soluble creams in Em's nappies or for tar poo. If we are having the 'I'm wet change me when the nappy is not full' days I use them too.
I love the postman! Fluffy mail for me today - 2 Whizz Kidz side snapping AI2s. Tried them on Will briefly and looks like they'll be awesome. So much room to adjust the sizing, I'm very impressed. Got a gorgeous blue dot minky with a chocolate inner, and a yellow cuddlefleece. Very nice.
Rhyb - how'd the scan go hun? I had a friend come over today and visit with her twins, she is a triplet herself!
TK - if you tell us what type of nappies they are, we should be able to tell you what their inner is. Or you could look it up yourself - it should have it on the websites :)
