So any good night nappy suggestions? Little one is almost 6 months old and a HEAVY WETTER overnight and I mean i will take her nappy off in the morning and almost drop it with the weight.

As soon as this sposies batch is gone I am refusing to buy any of the said "new design" ones after borrowing one off my mate as I forgot to restock the nappy bag out and about. THEY STINK like chemicals and I vow not to put any of those near her tender butt again as it also made her little bum red and was only on 90 mins. Maybe because I am used to the clean cloth smell though it could have contributed.

Thanks Gigi, I will try your 'de-smell' wash while I am trying to track down the canestan rinse.

The smell only seems to be happening with her baby beehind bamboo nappies, her other night nappies do not smell at all.

We wash every 48 hours so 1 night nappy will sit for 24hours then I will wash after her morning change the next morning so the second does not sit at all, so they really aren't sitting for that long.

I have been using these particular nappies for over a year now for nights, we have 5 of them that we rotate, maybe they just need a good de-smell wash and sit in the sun after this being inside alot over winter.

I have never had Matilda leak at night so it really isn't a concern, but as she sleeps 12 hours I am just concerned with trying a new nappy (at night that is when I can't keep an eye on it ;)) and knowing what its capacity is, she wears the minkytimes during the day, I know they fit well, just unsure how much extra stuffing she will need for night, I think I might give a go tonight, I will let you all know!

DD - canestan rinse is just in coles or woolies - in the laundry section - usually next to dettol rinse or something.

And I'm not sure if it hurts nappies or whatever, but even vinegar can ruin the elastic if used too often.

Ahh thanks Mel, I usually shop at IGA, I will look at Woolies when I go for milk.

If the sell doesn't disappear soon they will be going in the bin anyway so I am willing to try anything, it really is horrible!

DAINTREE - with the desmell wash (vinegar and bicarb) that is something to do VERY RARELY, if you do it frequently, the mcn fabrics will degrade. Only do it once in a blue moon. bilby was in nappies for 27 months, i did the desmell wash on a few mcn items ONCE in all that time. So use it sparingly.

Canestan is a funny one. Sometimes i see it at all supermarkets, easily available in the laundry aisle. then other times, it's something you ahve to search for, ask the manager to get it stocked up again.

Rocky Mountain OSFA pocket nappies have suedecloth inner too. Not many external snaps for a OSFA, so i suspect they have internal adjustments, like the fuzzibunz.
they're on sale at clothncraft right now, limited colours.

There is a dettol laundry sanitiser too so maybe that might work if you can't find canestan? I found when we had a colder, wet week my nappies smelt a tad stale after being dried inside so I aired them outside for a day or so but that was just stale smell, not ammonia. Could contribute on top of ammonia though.

Waiting to see if anymore nappy seconds go up on ebay because I am allowed buy nappies on special :laugh:

friend of mine did that last week - and her bubba arrived 2 days later! lol

no real nappy news here - need to wash them - CBF'd - tomorrow is supposed to be a good day, so i'll wash them overnight to hang them out tomorrow morning. bubba made it to seven days this time. poor poppet.

well got our fuzzibunz, and they are awesome! I've swapped the microfibre inserts with my own bamboo boosters and they are working a treat. We were out all day yesterday with cloth and it went really well. The only problem is that last night Fred wanted to feed every 2.5-3 hours, boy do I need sleep today!

Just wondering, is it ok to use wool wash with nappies? otherwise I'll need to go get some detergent...

MrsC - I was at the Melbourne PBC expo too, great to see so many different cloth nappy stands and all of them busy! I may have gone a little bit nuts - I bought one of almost everything... :p Can't wait to try them all out! I'm looking forward to summer when I can show off her gorgeous animal print minkee nappies to mothers group :D

Ok Mel, I have canestan rinse! Can you confirm how you use it? It says on the back to put 2 capfuls (1/4 cup) in the softener tray, umm I have a top loader and have no idea where a softener tray might be as I have never used softener?

So...
1. Do I use the full 2 capfuls?
2. Can I put it straight into the wash?
3. At what stage of the wash would I put it in? with the final rinse?

DD - I have a top loader and mine goes into the agitator cap bit - so I lift it up to put the detergent in there - and then add the rinse to the top of it, where the softener would go. Dunno if yours has a hole in it like mine or if it is capped? I had a capped one before, and the washing machine had a little tray at the back that flipped out, washing liquid on one side, fabric softener on the other - so I put it in the fabric softener bit.

Oh, and I just add it at the beginning of the wash. Less trips to the laundry that way.

Oh, and I use about a lid full (the canestan lid)

Rhyb - I have done a stripwash once - yes ONCE - in the whole time I've been using cloth, so what's that - over a year and a half?? Cos you only do it when they are losing absorbency, doesn't need to be done all the time.

I have only ever done a strip wash once, that is on these stinky nappies and it did nothing, only because they smell but there absorbancy is fine.

Well they have been washed in caneston and are on the line in the sun, I might leave them there until tomorrow afternoon... praying that it helps.

oh what a wonderful day for nappy washing! our BBB's finished drying in the sun this morning so I washed them again and rehung them outside about 2pm so hopefully will be able to wash again tomorrow...I know its worth it all this prewashing but I'm hanging out to use them rofl! the pockets on the other hand are all stuffed and sitting in Susie's room ready to be used. DH is working from home today and sat down with me to stuff the pockets without being asked..so he could get used to how to do it just in case :) what a sweetie!

we've hit 10 days since her last decent pooh! couple of 'dollops' on friday lol but still waiting for the big one! poor love!

I've got some BBH fitteds coming for DS, so I will have enough to get him out of disposables at night, and I have been given permission from DH to get DD another 2 or so night nappies. I have my eye on some trim GF super nights, but just waiting till after DD's birthday to have a better cash flow. So by Xmas, I will be sposie free :dance:

I am also going to put the things I learnt at the nappy making class on the weekend to the test, and make some myself.. More as a hobby to get my mind working a bit..

Was planning for my nappies to dry overnight but the damn sprinkler came on and i had to re spin cycle them to wring them out. One time you curse the fact that bamboo is so absorbant :p

DP came home to find our lil one almost crawling, she gets her legs under and caterpillars along with her face on the floor. all we saw was this pink camo nappied butt in the air as it was hot so i let her roll around in her fluff all day. Was soooooooooo cute. still trying to hunt down super cheap nappies because I am about 8 off full time capacity if the weather sours slightly. been drying in 1/2 a day until yesterday where we had cloud and it got mega humid. DP is sticking by his buying ban even though I told him how much each of the current batch of sposies is worth (44 cents a piece) and I have a front loader washing machine so it's super energy/water efficient, I just give it a rinse prior to wet the nappies and half flush wee out.

We are almost out of sposies... I don't know if I have enough cloth that will fit her now for full time use but am going to give it a go!!

We have had the LS for sometime now but I haven't hooked it up cause we were using sposies and then when we did use cloth it was easy enough to give a quick rinse under the tap... but I decided to bite the bullet and get DP to hook it up...

IT DOESN'T FIT :cry:

The silver T-connector doesn't fit onto the toilet end... I know I need a thingy (yep I am using the technical terms :doh:) but I don't know where to get it or what it is... do I just go to Bunnings and ask them for the thing that will make it fit onto the toilet?

That probably makes no sense but it is complete usual TK language when it comes to these types of things :redface:

TK - call or Email LS direct , they will help you out , in the past they have sent out spare parts so you dont need to go to bunnings and look for the peice , and they are aust made and owned so they are always williing to help (well they were last time i spoke to them :) )

ok , heres the exciting bit : yesterday - i got ..... (drumroll) 2 ( yes 2 !!!) brand spankin new auriels and a beetlebum inside out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wooo hooo !!! oh the auriels !! so devine ...
id make gabbi model them but while we were out ... gabbi picked up a stomach bug :( and is sick , so sick she keeps dry reaching to vompit (ds' speak) but has nothing in her tummy to bring up . comatose on the lounge right now ...

oh and some more sad news ... my MED ittis have to go to a new home :( now that gabbi is getting bigger (yes omygosh shes getting bigger !!! 9.1 kgs now :) ) and is drinking soy formula , she is out peeing the ittis in no time at all ...

its either cut back on the formula or say bye bye to my ittis :(

in regards to LS spare parts NOPE they don't send out free spare parts anymore...tried that :( and they wanted $70 for the friggen part!!!! plus delivery...would have cost more than a new LS....

TK - we had the same issue in our house in Queensland because it was an older style toilet - so we just went into a plumbing shop with the parts and explained what we needed and the guys were really awesome at helping. Better than bunnings cos they are more specialised I suppose (we did try bunnings, but just got a WTF??? expression from everyone that we talked to)

So don't stress out yet. There's always a solution :D

we STILL don't have our LS installed yet - DH is such a slacker! and my bro ((who i trust much more than DH anyway) has been flat out! nappies get rinsed and that's it - no biggie here

not a lot of nappy news again - got a couple of Bits For Bots the other day - they are so cute and summery! have to prewash them (DH missed throwing them in with the nappies yesterday) and then we'll start using them. DD finally got a day yesterday where her nappy could be flashed - the first proper warm day we've had! she loved kicking around in T and nappy, playing in the grass with her bare toes... was so cute (and of course we got lots of pics lol)

The piece you need I'm pretty sure you need and old style thread diameter one. was looking at the dimensions of the LS attachments somewhere and am holding off til we move more for the fact it wouldn't fit our loo. Our bunnings sucks for plumbing parts so plumbing store would be way better. We had issues getting a certain washer to fix our apparently too old taps (only about 5 years old but older style) but they aren't specialist plumbing supplies so it's normal they'd really only carry what was standard.

WOCB: smelly sposie, it pongs right now but she's sleeping and letting me have a coffee in peace so not waking her. Just reconstructed her CT couture pink camo ready to go when she wakes.

i love micro fleece liners so much easier to clean poo a laundry sink does help lol
all my new nappies have finished their prewashes and are on his butt now and i'll try the BBB tonite and see how it goes he doesnt really pee more at night compared to the day so their normally ok but i gotta get me some more large covers to fit over them

Im so in love with these Magicall Multifits Im considering selling all my sized nappies and OSFMs I dont use often (like GKs etc) and just have them! I only prewashed twice and the nappy lasted 6 hours and wasnt even soaked! Theyre so gorgeous!!
Aidens got a cold so hes home from daycare and Ive had like 3ish hours sleep thanks to this cold of his and teething I think Ill have to nap when he does to be up for the MAL stocking :dance:

I've got a zebra print GK. And I swear, every time I put it on Munchkin she poops. No matter when she did her last. She's never worn it without pooping in it. I still don't understand it.

lol, charlie always seems to poo whenever i forget to put a liner in regardless of nappy :doh:

Oh yes, the worst ones are always without a liner, DD did the worst poo this morning - somehow she plastered it in a thin layer across the entire nappy and underneath all the layers, oooohhhhhh, plus I got splash back from the force of the water when I was washing the nappy and it would appear morning sickness is starting to kick in and THAT sure as hell didn't help!

Rhyb - naughty girl - you've got me coveting magical multi-fits now and I reaalllly shouldn't buy anymore. Mind you - you've got a great reason to buy a GIANT stash, woo hoo. You're doin so well carrying all those bubs - are they expecting them at a certain time or just wait and see?

who know a good USA nappy brand , a customer at our workshop is a pilot for quantas and is heading over to LA in 3 wks and said i can send anything to his hotel room and he'll bring it back ... so far im getting apple bottom jeans ,and orajel teething gel (that stuff is the bomb diggy in teetheing gel ... am i sad or what )

sooo apart from handbags and purses and clothes , what nappies are good to buy from there ?????
