is that when it balls up?
I was given a polar fleece rug for DS's when he was born... he has a 100 rugs, so i thought i'd chop this one up seeing it has no sentimental value ><;

Yeah, when it balls up it'd feel like crumbs in bub's nappy. Like those cheap and nasty sheets from woolies that feel like someone has eaten toast in the bed. You can get anti pill polar fleece but once again just make sure it's 100% polyester. If it's a playrug that hasn't gone bally and is 100% poly it'd probably work. The blends would hold wetness and be useless againt creating a barrier.
it says it's only polyester.. doesn't say 100% tho.
It's just a little bunnyrug type thing
Maybe just try dripping water on and blotting it to see if it'll feel really wet? you can always trial them for a few days and monitor if any rashes start.
i think ive created a monster!!!!
the postie came today, DD saw the red and white post bag, got excited and started pulling at her nappy, thinking it was a new one!! well it was for her, but wasnt a nappy!
i figured out what was causing the leaks, she had been trying to figure out how to walk on her own and was lifting her legs up high working out the distance for her steps, now shes figured it out, the leaks have stoped!
what sort of covers are best for a newborn? ive got prefolds, terry and flannel flats...
WOKB: pea pod, fast asleep!
I liked thirstie covers as they have gusseted legs but other than than I use BBH ones because they are cheap.
I love twinkly Lilly covers.... but they're probably not that great with NB poop ^^; It's held in Jacks runny poo before, but you have to wash it ASAP cos it all soaks in then re-lano... I have heard people rave about the motherease rikki cover for their leg gussets too.
We had night two in the BBH NN last night. Still no leaks and J has actually started sleeping thru, which is a VERY rare occurrence in this house hold. not sure if it's a coincidence with relation to his new clothed night butt or what but i hope it continues!
WOJB Fluro ebay cheapie (stuffed with bamboo as well as the microfibre, because i'm lazy and wasn't up for a nappy change in an hour)
Sarah- I like motherease rikki covers and Maz covers :)
I swear I've read a heap that you can use polar fleece. Maybe the ladies were using flanny flats and the nappies had heaps of run off room? Sorry for the incorrect info Helle.
My father is visiting this week and I introduced him to the little squirt! He thought it was ace (yet he didn't volunteer to rinse DD's nappy *sigh*).
Finally a spot of sun after this unusually dreary week so the inserts are having a good sun cleaning sesh!
WOCB: back to sposies at night. Teething wee is just too smelly for heightened sense of smell at 3am. Bum is slathered with MSN cream to stop spotties!
i just got peed on this morning it was in an AT i think it was repeled by the fleece maybe the wrong kind of fleece was used or it hasnt been washed enough
WOMB: baby safari V2 yellow
WOSB: magicall
so glad to be out of sposies from moving
I really wanna get a LS with Js teething poos lately. So gross. Still trying to work out how I can break it to DH. I have just got a new clothes line out of him because our old one was going sticky and leaving green marks on the nappies. He might pop of I tell him I want to modify the toilet for the nappies now too XD
We had three no leak nights with the BBHNN. So stoked. Can't wait for my MAL. Was washing it every morning and it was dry by night time but last night got away from me and it was washed too late, and then this morning the sprinklers got it so I have to start all over again. *sigh*
WOJB rockets CT. He's feeding a cow :)
helle - my hubby built a DIY LS for us. It's ace - he used a 7 mode garden hose nozzle, so you can use different sprays for different kinds of poo - "rinse" is good for the NB stuff at the moment. Cost us $50, but $20 was for an adaptor bit that we would've needed with a LS anyway. Look into it, save some $$$.
Also, microfleece is cheap as for liners. I bought $3 worth of microfleece and now have about 6 billion liners. I also overlocked some to some old terry strips I had kicking around, they make great booster-liners in our night nappies (which at this stage is just any kind of bamboo fitted.
sarah - I used ME Rikkis, Tots Bots PUL wraps, Bummis, maz, BBH and Loveybums covers. I'm actually probably about to sell a good selection as I had too many, do you want first dibs? PM me.
We just went away for a bit of a romantic weekend, with baby, of course, but hubby packed and probably didn't take quite enough nappies. We made it, but by the skin of our teeth - no clean ones when we got home.
WONB: Little Britches pocket, all fixed after its little adventure.
I washed the rug and could tell it's be no good.
Thanks audax! I'll have to sweet talk DH into it I think
I have a question... We (sil and I) got some abbrgros from a bb member selling them and they have a absorbent panel sewn into them. Does anyone know what they are called? And do they need a cover or is there PUL in there somewhere? I really like them. They seem alot softer than the minky alldays...
Wojb ocean breeze abbygro
Hello my fluffy lovelies!!
I've just done my first nappy wash since WEDNESDAY! I can't believe I have that many nappies! (recieving 2 parcels when I got home on Saturday helped ;))
Now to get them dry... I think I'll pull out the heater & park them next to it. There's no sun, a cool breeze & too much humidity & I need them dry TODAY!
I think I'll have to ring radio rentals for a dryer......... I really don't want to! I'm enjoying having power bills that are lucky to crack the $400 mark!! Thats with 2 hot water heat ups a day!
But I have to do something (maybe buying more nappies....)
Best go hang them.
WOSB - rockmelon itti

Helle, as said above, polar fleece is no good.
Sarah - I use Maz covers.
clover, there is a purple tuto in the mcn page for $20 i was going to get it, but no $$ till tomorow, and i realy dont want to buy miss any more till ive goten rid of the 10 we dont like, (bub is an exception!)
Audax that would be great. thanks ill pm you.
WOKB: pink pull itti
those abby gros are made with a lining of maiden mills fleece which is water repellent, so they don't need PUL or a cover. I have some fleece Auriels too, a few other nappy makers use the same sort of concept (Genessa Forge is another who makes fleece nappies). Essentially they are healthier because the fleece is more breathable than PUL (but not as breathable as wool). hth <3
nappy news here - mum stuffed my little squirt, I'm waiting on so much fluff I could pee my pants with excitement and I am proud to say I made some big butt baby pants that are perfect for over cloth!!
oh and lucky I do have some more pockets on the way - I used Miss A's last ones from the shelf today (others still drying/in bucket) and had to grab the last pocket from the nappy bag. It's not even winter yet!
WOMB - retro sage/pink dot beetlebum pocket
