Woo hoo HSM!
Lol about itti bitti sale, I've had to stop myself......
Please please can I have a bit of advice? We use ofsm nappies and it doesn't seem to matter which brand we use, we get leg leakage. The nappies seem to be fitting snugly round the legs but we are always springing leaks. This is a new thing probably in the last month or so. What am I doing wrong?
TIA :)
I'm no mcn expert but maybe your babies have been peeing quicker lately not giving the nappy time to absorb it so it leaks out the legs? Or if you're using pockets maybe the insert is scrunching up too much? Though I doubt that would have just happened in the last month! Sorry I'm not much help, hopefully someone more experienced will come along :)
hsm you go with the shopping, you're great at bargain hunting! Hope some of the freebies turned out ok.
Chrispe how are you going with your new stash?
Well I think I need more nappies, I counted on them drying in a day but that's not always happening lately, and will only be worse in winter.... told dh i need a dryer but he said i may as well spend the money on more nappies  Stripped all of them this week using morning fresh and 60 deg, they are smelling better (tho still not fantastic). Bought ecostore and trying different washing programs so hopefully I figure out the perfect wash routine soon!
Loving my BBH. Some of the stash (the funni bums) I bought are a bit overused (delaminated.) but not my BBH! Checked their website and they have a summer sale on too! Have ordered a couple of extra covers. Reminds me I need to go rinse the poohy nappies from when I was shopping this morning. (He pooed 3 times! In 6 hrs.)
WOKB- BBH purple bamboo with blue cover.
just a random trick I have recently discovered. If bub poos. wait a little while (few hours) until the nappy absorbs all the moisture from it and the poo dries out, it then makes it easier to squirt/scrape off into the loo!! (rather than trying to do it to a sloppy thing) =)
Lol thanks. It's going to be something like that now anyway.
Melissa I wonder if its time for a strip wash. Have you started using zinc based happy cream... that could be causing the problem??
Might try the strip wash as the cream we are using is the same as we've been using all along. Next question, what's the best/gentlest way of strip washing? I seem to remember getting an info leaflet of all the things not to wash nappies in.
Thanks for the info on liners guys. I'm still in two minds about using/ not using them.
I'm loving out itti bitti stash :-)
Wohb- IB Tutto in peppermint.
Could the girls have changed shape Melissa? How old are the nappies? Could they be delaminating? Do you have a dryer? Try a spin in there to reseal the laminate?
To strip I use a few drops of dishwashing liquid in a hot wash and then rinse rinse rinse. Then a couple of days (well when I lived south a couple - here they just fade) in the sun.
Cattle - we costed dryer v more nappies and more nappies is defs cheaper! That said, I'm still destashing.
Melissa - what OSFMs are you using? Some are too wide in the crotch, so the leg holes sit down their legs and get pulled kinda oddly. Could it be that?
Littlest miss is out of most of her smalls! At 10 weeks! We're starting to crack out hr big sister's old mediums, occasionally she gets a bit jealous and wants to wear them, but she's mostly ok.
Just out of curiosity what are everybody's favourite nappies?
Out of the stash I bought I'm liking the Baby Beehinds the most. I haven't tried any itti bitti or pea pod nappies yet though.
Most of the other nappies I got just don't work as well (the starbuns, funnibuns and no names)
We use totsbots easy fits and aside from this, they have been brilliant. It's weird cos they leak along the stitching line of the leg elastic.
I would say the laminate needs to be resealed then Melissa.
I have tried I reckon 50+ types of nappies over nearly 7 years. Oddly, the nappies I hated for DD1 and DS are my favourites with DD2. Right now I am loving itti AIOs. I've never really liked any of the mass produced nappies - not because I'm a snob or have to have the best stash, but the WAHM ones seem to fit and work better, so I'm really surprised now. I love Angeltears and CK AI2s as well, but they are harder to get.
I have no idea my faves with DD1 and with DS it was a brand (Bundles of Buns) that really isn't around anymore.
I love my Dragonfly Magicks. I'm a fan of the WAHM too. I have only ever tried BBH and Ittis other than that though. Didn't like the Itti's.
I mainly use peapods as they worked well, but now find my own work way better than all my others. Not bias much lol.
I love dragonfly magiks too. Shame she's scaling the business back.
I have quite a few Bonnibuns and they just Will. Not. Die. Some are up to their third kid and you'd hardly know it. So love their durability.
I love itti bitti snap in ones cause if DD just does a wee I can snap out the wet booster pads and put a fresh set in. The all in ones are no fuss easy to use and they all fit so well.
