Have you tried pikapu? I use them over BBH night nappies, reasonable size, Velcro tho, not sure if that is compatible with an older child.
I love my Disana wool covers, PZ, and they'd work just fine on chubbier legs. These are my fave covers, because it's usually just a quick air and they're ready to reuse. You do need to lanolise them and have a wool wash if they get soiled, but the in between ease of use makes up for the prep work.
As a sideline to the disana covers - is there any hope if they get shrunk in the wash? The very first time we used them DH put them in to wash with the rest of the laundry and are very very shrunken. I was a tad p1ssed
Jen, they look adorable!! How are they during summer? Also, how many do you think I'd need? 2, 3?
Wool breathes, so it's good all year around. I have longies for DD2 for winter, but in summer just use these on their own over NNs overnight. I have two for each of my girls. I'm yet to use them on DD3 as she's only just over 3 kg, not quite into the size I bought. But esp good with DD2 who is rash-prone.
I don't know. :( Once wool is felted I don't think you can get it back to the same size, but maybe someone on the interwebz has a solution.
As an aside, I used the lanolin on all of our woolens and the wool wash I got from the same MCN online shop as the pants and have had much better results than what I've bought in the supermarket.
Damn, had a horrible feeling that was the case. I tried an Epsom salt soak which made no difference and that seems to be dr google's answer :/
Thanks ladies. I didn't think of using a micro fleece layer... I could just buy some from say, Spotlight, and cut it myself, right? Does it need any special treatment?
The prefolds are Dr Seuss GF ones - was all set to buy bamboo or ones with the extra insert, but was sucked in by the cute Dr Seuss panel! I prewashed them three times and they've been washed two or three times on top of that, so I figured they're absorbent enough. It's not a problem as long as I know.
Am really missing my MCN's at the moment (though not the extra washing so much ;)) Can't wait to try DS2 in the itti bitti's again too. They were too big when we first got home from hossy, but I'm hoping they fit now.
I prewashed my microfleece and cut into strips but that was about it. I only use zinc based creams when DD has a doozy of a rash as it is the only thing that clings to the skin without washing off with poo/urine/rubbing so it allows the skin to heal under a barrier so to speak. Plus zinc is very healing and great for sensitive, sore or itchy skin. I use it on myself after waxing! But day to day or for minor redness I just use coconut oil which I squirt onto a bamboo wipe in place of a disposable wipe.
Awesome Ladylove, thanks!
We're back in cloth! Yay! :)
So it seems as though Cheeky Butts and DD are not meant to be. My beautiful replacement stash sent to me by the loveliest new owner after I complained that my old stash had lost all elasticity in under 6 months is now also dying in the elastic. I don't get it. My other MCN brands are fine and I know others use Cheeky Butts with no problems. I do soak my nappies overnight in the machine before washing the next morning but I use minimal, super gentle detergent in the soak. I do usually add two caps of eucalyptus oil but surely that wouldn't cause the problem especially as it would be so dilute in a full wash? :wall:
Hmmmm, not sure LL. I mostly have CB minis so they're for NB. I find the elastic has gone in some of my secondhand larger nappies (although not the CBs), but since I know they've been well used I let them go. Did you send her back a couple before so she could check them out?

I did Jen and she was mystified and said she had never seen the elastic in a CB so degraded. DD is prone to ammonia wee so maybe it is her wee?
LL I'd guess its the soaking overnight that's doing it. How often do you do a nappy load?
FL ever second day. But I pre-rinse before I fill the machine and soak, and really the laundry detergent is minimal. I usually use plain soap flakes and do an occasional strip wash- all in cold water as our hot doesn't work on the machine. My other branded nappies are fine. Plus some MCN manufacturers (like Bubblebubs) suggest ammonia prone nappies are pailed in plain water rather than dry pailing so surely one night in water wouldn't hurt? So odd.
I agree LL. very odd. I wonder if the elastic is less resilient in this brand??
I'm thinking maybe that's the case.
Hi Mummas. I'm trying to find places to sell my cousins BBH and cushie tushie stash for her but I'm not having much luck.
Any ideas please?
I'm not sure FL, I've never sold MCNs. Have you looked at how well they sell on ebay?
Arg so a small order, about $50, that I made with a small NSW MCN company end of December still hasn't arrived and though the money was taken from my Paypal account I've not had any luck trying to email them- no response at all out of 3-4 emails. Thinking something a bit dodge has happened so opened a conflict resolution thing on Paypal. :wall:
That is so frustrating LL, fx it's just slow over Xmas and you get your stuff!
I have no luck with selling FL, I'm trying to get rid of my BBH nn with no luck
Have you tried the buy swap sell on here?
I like the BBH NN but I need to look through my stash to see what I might need for DD3 as I think DD2 is okay (unless you have L/XL?).

I bought my itti's and BBH covers on Gumtree. I missed out on a couple of others as they'd sold really quickly...
There's a Facebook site called 'MCN but swap sell' I am a member, I think they recently made it private or closed due to spam issues so I don't know how you join, will investigate for you.
It's actually called buy and sell your MCNs, I can add you, pm me your Facebook name :-)
Saffy I'd like to join the group too, will PM you.
Big thank you to those who recommended the GroVia Magic Stick. It's working a treat on DD2's mild but persistent nappy irritation. And it smells nice!

Ok quick random question. Spock is going to day care tomorrow, first time ever (her and me..eek). And they said thry are happy for the cloth. I just have to supply them (easy). I should label them right? If so how??? Help!
Sew on labels would be the best way, but probably a bit late for that. You could always ask them? Are you taking a wetbag? All the nappies will be put straight in there, so it's unlikely to be a big issue, if you want to wait for some labels.
Yea, I've written our last name on the wet bag. They weren't phased with the cloth, but I was under the impression no one else was in cloth.. I might see how we go and just not supply my favourites just yet until I know how the system works. Thanks LM.
Hmm do I need snappis or similar for my newborn prefolds? Or will they stay in place I. The cover?
you can just fold them into themselves if you don't have snappies
Ok cool. Thanks Hotl.
Slowly adding to my newborn stash for the arrival of DD2. We have heaps of small sized bambooty and ittibitti delish from when DD was new but we had so many waterfalls and poosplosions because while she was only just under average weight she had skinny thighs .... Anyway that was enough of an excuse for me to add to the stash second time around. I now have about 12 cheap prefolds, a few Rumparooz 'lil Joey, Bumboo and Bubblebubs newborn covers- the Rumparooz look especially petite- and a couple of old model Grovia newborn AIOs. The Bubblebubs looks a bit roomy for a newborn but has double gussets. The Grovia look nice and compact. Also increased my Grovia terry wipes pile which I use with coconut oil as bum wipes. Is it odd I get more excited about MCNs than baby clothes?!
I found Rumparooz have only done us for six weeks here and DD3 started out at 2.86 kgs. Wasn't reaching for them very much as they didn't hold everything in as well as my others. But we're now moving into OSFM and using smalls otherwise. My baby is getting chunky!
So exciting to be getting out the nb fluff though, LL!
So, ignoring all the fantastic things about cloth, you know what my new favourite thing about them is? They are solely responsible for Spock learning her colours! As they are all different bright colours, I've been telling her what colour one I out on her for a while, and now she says it first! And I can offer her two and she will tell me which colour =)
Yep we used our nappies to help teach DD her colours too. Now she even knows the finer colours like light blue, pale pink, gold etc.
That's our next step LL =) as she has a couple of 'tan' 'off white' 'light brown' ones and different shades of purple etc I really struggle with describing,
