I plan on washing every 2nd day I've only just started my stash and have 7 AIO's OSFM and I know I'm going to need a lot more than that but how many?

How many do you use on average in 2 days and how many kids is that for (im needing for 2 babies)

As a newborn you will need about 24 nappies per baby I would think.
Obviously, flats and prefolds are your best option for newbies, as you change them so so often. The flats are cheap, dry super quick and are easy to use.
We would easily have done 12 changes a day using the flats, I prefer to change newborns often, so I can a/ keep an eye on output and b/ they don't get used to sitting in wet and dirty nappies (eew!).

Once they get older (a couple of months or so) you will be able to move into small sizes and OSFM. Realistically, I doubt OSFM will fit your newbies, as twins they will be generally smaller than a singleton. So don't plan on being able to use OFSM straight away.

Also, the AIOs and AI2s take longer to dry than fitteds usually or pockets, so you need to think about this when planning your stash, given you live in Vic, you never know what the weather will do! lol

I obviously don't have twins, but I would seriously think about washing everyday in the beginning - it doesn't take much to put on a load and hang them, and that way you will be able to keep the newborn/small stash to a minimum and see how they are growing, what nappies suit them (side snaps, fitteds, OSFM, wide crotch narrow...) So don't go rushing out buying a zillion MCNs before they are born, you will end up wasting a lot of money!!

Grab some flats and prefolds, there are some ace NB fitteds, the Kissaluvs and Bubblebums are fab and dry quickly, snappiable too so they are fully adjustable.

thanks hun i found a great deal on prefolds at happybaby hopefully its still on! you obviously need covers for prefolds ... any recommendations?

Maz's covers are a great fit on prefolds & flats.

I would get a pack or 2 (I got 2 for one bub) of terry flats & maybe one of flanny flats (haven't used myself) for back up. They dry the quickest & if it rains for weeks straight even your prefolds can take longer than a day to dry.

Go to the buy & sell your mcn's on facebook page. You'll be able to pick up cheap covers & nappies, mostly second hand, but they give you a description of the condition of them
You'll be able to find out what works best without spending too much

I have about 11 itti's, 3 swaddlebees, 3 ebay cheapies, 2 daddle doos & 2 other wahms that I use regularly, not including nights. So thats 21, at 3 months old just for day use.
I used prefolds & flats when she was younger & being changed every hour or 2 night & day. I wash every 2 - 3 days.

I'd start with them (flats etc) til the bubs are here. It takes a bit to work out which nappies fit the best to keep in the poo plosions

to save money ive read a few people have made there own pre folds, is that hard, worth it, what would i need?

ssooo can you tell im kinda new to this all not all MCNs are the same in the way they fit etc? never had a problem with different brands of 'sposies and how they fit so just trying to work it all out!

Yeah, the shape of the nappies & the shape of the baby are all different.

Prefolds can be made with what ever you like. Bamboo fleece, terry towelling, hemp fleece.
Mine from Maz are a layer of bamboo & a layer of terry (I think) overlocked.
