Question Need a rash cream, but using MCN's....

Kane is getting a red- tipped penis, and his testicles are starting to look sore too....

I think it was wearing the spossies in hossy, and probably the pain meds making his urine more acidic, poor bub.....

Were back in his beloved cloth, (yes, he knows the difference, and goes and gets one when I say "nappy time", and tantrums when I get a spossie!!), and I know some mummies use a cream off the internet, but what can I grab from the chemist thats okay on cloth nappies???

I wanna get something on him quick smart if I can....

Jodi, if I ever have to use a cream, I use a fleece liner in between the nappy and the skin. They can be washed in hot water or soaked to get the cream off if you need to.

Maybe put some "store bought" throw away liners???

I only have microfibre and bamboo inserts at the monent to go with my nappies....

Jodie - most people use microfleece liners - but you can get the papery type ones to go on your nappies too so its a barrier between normal bum cream and the inside of the nappy.

I use moogoo cos you don't need a liner for that. Check out moo goo dot com dot au for the nearest stockist near you. I was surprised to see one 20 minutes away from me.

    Its great stuff!!!

Resolve balm will work great on his boy bits. It rubs in (but repels urine) so should be ok with MCN's. Wipe with saline or warm water at each nappy change and apply, covering all nappy area. HTH.

Bepanthen Ointment is OK. I dont use liners with that and I do a thin layer, havent had any rub onto the nappies. The ointment is lanolin based.

    You could also try cornflour.

I personally havent used these but I have seen johnson and jonhson nappy liners at BigW?

Although, one pack was opened and the liners looked like these blue kitchen wipes!

That's interesting Ali, I wouldn't have expected that with Bepanthen. Pure lanolin is a bugger to get out of anything because it is so greasy (being wool fat and all), surfactants don't lift it easily. It may use a low concentration of lanolin in a water base, or use a really good emulsifier. I use Bepanthen occasionally but always use liners. But maybe I don't need to be so concerned.

Sudocream is perhaps the worst of the lot for attaching itself to nappies. It is evil to MCNs, but so far it's the only thing that budges really bad rash on my lad.

I've just ordered moo goo today, we don't have a local stockist so had to order online.

ETA: Macca - Lucas Paw Paw has a petrochemical base, Simmons Paw Paw salve (in the yellow tube or tub) does not. It looks and feels identical, but doesn't use petrochemicals!

Sudocream certainly doesn't agree with my nappies. It clogs up in the nappy and is really, really hard to get out. Then nappy is not as absorbent. I had to strip wash and scrub my nappies and still i didn't get it all out, i can see it in the nappy. I wont be making that mistake again! Moogoo all the way here too.

I think the general rule is no oil based creams with MCN.

The Moogoo has been amazing on Kane!!!!

In less than 24hrs, he only has a red tipped penis, all the rest has gone from his testicles and leg creases!!!

I ask now if he wants a massage, and he lays down, spreads his legs, and hands me the moogoo.........TOO cute!!!
