    does chiropractic work help reflux/colic?

    Hey guys

Felix is 12 weeks old...and has mild-moderate reflux and colic.

After most feeds, he vomits quite a bit (and sometimes huge amounts) and is generally very distressed until we can get the wind out.

I've booked in to see a chiropractor this afternoon and was wondering whether any one has had any success with this?

    Cheers!

It will be the best decision you every made.

My DS basically screamed for the first 4 weeks of his life, it was absolutely terrible and DH and I were just beside ourselves with worry. I basically didn't sleep for a month. Then I took DS to the Chiro and he changed over night. His hips were out of allingment which was affecting his abilty to digest food thus causing extreme wind pain. The poor little fella was so distressed and I was losing the plot.

After just one session of Chiro he was a different baby and now we hardly every hear him cry. He still chucks quite a bit but there is no pain associated with it. I take him every week or so and he is improving so quickly. I can't reccomend it enough, it changed our life and most importantly, our little man is happy again.

I think everyone is different, if you have a chiro who you trust with children then I don't see the harm. Parker has only just started going because so many people said that it would cure him, we have had 8 sessions but have not had much success, but at the same time the chiro is really good and has told us that nothing has worked so far so I like that he is honest about it. My cousin and my best friend see one for their children and they swear by it.

    Hi,

Monnie, how did you go at the Chiro? My little man has mild reflux and he is on Zantac but I am seriously thinking about other options.. Would love to hear how it went.

Spring, how many sessions did your bub have or do you just make it a regular thing now. What does the chiro do to bub? Is it at all painful?

    Would love to hear..

Hello I'm interested in hearing how it went too. I've currently got my DD (9 weeks old) on a waiting list to see an osteopath for reflux as well - highly recommended so I hear.

Me too! I suspect DS has quite bad wind pain and I was thinking of taking him to a chiro.

Spring - I was wondering where you took your DS? You can PM me if you'd prefer??

The first fortnight DS had appointments twice a week, then we had a break of a week, and now his next appointment isn't for 3 weeks so they are gradually getting further apart.

The Chiro is fantastic and does a lot of paediatric work. Anything he does on DS he explains to me first and is very gentle. So gentle that DS either sleeps the entire time, or if he is awake at the begining, he is snoozing by the end. The treatment invovles an assessment (first appointment takes about an hour) and then gentle manipulation and massage (a different lady does the massage). The Chiro does use some implements that are about the size of a pen and click (sorry for the lame explaination), but he showed me the pressure he applies to DS on the back of my hand first and it was nothing at all. As I said, DS sleeps through it all.

Willow: I'll PM you the details.

I swear by it too but like Kelly said, make sure the chiro is experienced with babies. I drive a 400km round trip to take my DD to a chiropractor that is a baby specialist and its worth every km!!

I have taken Zyon to my Mum's uncle whom is a well respected Chiro, he actually works with the Australia Paralympian teams! (one of his sons is a champion basketball player in a wheelchair) He looked at zyon did some very minor skeletal massage, then gave me some herbs & prior to this Zyon screamed 24/7, me stopping all dairy & the chiro... Within a month Zyon now is not on anything!!!!

    Hi Girls,

I know this is a bit late, but my DD had Colic and Constipation. I took her to the Chiro at 5wks old and she was like a different bub just after two sessions, she even started sleeping right through the night. My chiro is in melb west suburbs and specialises in children, i also know of one in CBD Melb.
