chucky newborn with rotten egg farts

my ds gets very unsettled after a feed. lots of squirming and screaming until he vomits or burps, settles for a little while then starts again. aftre he gets gas out he will then crash and sleeps. he can be unsettled for hours , but some feeds (1 or 2 a day) will be without issue. last few days he has had rooten stinky farts. my dd never had these. are they a sign of something?

seeing an osteo tomorrow. any thing else i should look into? he is breastfed.

Is there something you are eating that is upsetting his tummy? My DD gets like that if I eat anything with a lot of sugar.

Yep, I'd be guessing something you're noshing on is upsetting him - DS handles my liking for sweet stuff and chocolate fine but went wonky when I ate tabbouli, and gets gassy/unsettled if I have a lot of cauliflower or cabbage in my dinner.

DS had wind that smelt like DEATH! The poor Osteo who was treating him would do an adjustment which would relax his bowel and he'd fart up a storm... then the poor love would try and hide the fact that she was gagging!

This, along with lots of grunting, arching, poor sleep etc led us to discover that he is dairy intolerant. He's still a bit windy since I cut dairy from my diet but there's not the stench there was before, and if I happen to eat the slightest bit of dairy the death-toots (as DH calls them!) are back... along with a whole lotta screaming.

I'd try eliminating different wind-causing foods (dairy, sugars, chocolate, citrus, onions and garlic, spicy foods...) and see if that makes any difference.

bugger. i had to cut dairy for a few months with DD, but then she was ok with it. haven't had any chocolate or spicy foods, but we did get a big bag of lollies please, let DS not be reacting to sugar!

might have to cut out dairy for awhile and see if that helps.

My DD2 developed terribly smelly farts at about 2 months. I couldn't link it to food but there was a mild bout of gastro in my DD1 who was 2.5 at the time (so mild I didn't really put it all together until hindsight made it clear). DD2's poos definitely did get runnier and I figured she developed a bit of diarrhoea too.

I don't have any advice regarding the squirming, to me it sounds like newborn behaviour for the most part. But i do remember that my DD too had rotten farts. We'd laugh and joke about it not being very lady like. We never smelt the boys like we could DD. It didn't last though. No advice on what to do really, being breastfed it could be the foods you are eating but in the early months most things will effect bub in some way until their digestive system matures.

Good luck and enjoy your little one

DD used to squirm & eventually scream (normally out of frustration but has been due to discomfort too) due to wind in belly. You can tap her belly & it sounds like a small drum. One of the best thing we found was to 'cycle' her legs (apart from Chiro). That seems to help push it along.

I went through this with DD and the MCHN suggested cutting out garlic and onion. We did it and she settled.

My 3 things I cut out were anything that had any caffeine (even chocolate), garlic and dairy. She has no issues with these things now. Just needed their stomachs to get a bit stronger to handle them I guess.
