I have been told by the ECHN that Harrison is fine with the small number of teeth he has, but that hasn't stopped me from being concerned.
Harrison is 18 months old and only has 3 teeth. It doesn't stop him from eating anything though, he was happily munching through pieces of steak at lunch time.
I am wondering if there are any other bubs out there that had only a few teeth at 18 months or so?
Harrison has only just broken his 3rd tooth through, and it took ages for that to happen. He got his first tooth at 14 months also. At the moment, there is no sign of any others wanting to come through... I can see they're there under his gum but they just won't pop out! lol
He has his 2 middle bottom ones and his right middle upper tooth.
id be a little concerned too,but i dont think the dentist will be, theres not much you can do apart from requesting an xray just to check to make sure there are indeed there!! id say there will be he's jsut a very late teether! willget his adult teeth through very late probably as well! a friend of mine her daughter only gor her adult incisors (front teeth) at around 8 yrs! she was also very slow.
its usually genetic, aske your mum or mil if you or DP were last teethers, you may get you answer from them!!
If you can see them then I probably wouldn't worry - they will come through eventually! Like AJP said the dentist will probably do an x-ray if you are concerned but there is probably no point if you can see them?
My DD seems to have less teeth than all the other toddlers I know at her age (she has 6 at 14.5months) but turns out DH was a late teether...........so maybe a genetic factor for you guys too!
Lisa, there's not much you can do about it I'm sure it's worrying you, but as long as the teeth are there (I'm sure they are), they'll come through in their own good time. As Jols said, his permanent teeth will likely be slow to erupt as well.
