    Frequent Feeding apparently eases Wind

Was talking with local GP today and asked him what his recommendations were for easing wind in babies and he says that the new school of thought is that if they are windy to feed them more frequent as when they cry they are gulping in air bubbles which in turn makes the wind pains worse. Was wondering what other peoples thoughts are on this as i have previously been told that feeding them again makes it worse

is your baby breast or bottle fed..

4 breast feeding i would agree and feed heaps and burp heaps.

with formula no way would i keep feeding more than the recomended amount it would just make baby fat.

also rub babies tummy in a clockwise direction with medium pressure.

    hope this helps

TBH - I don't agree AT ALL. My DS was the worst sleeper and sufferer of colic/reflux/whatever.
He was feeding every 90 mins, it nearly killed me. On advice from the hotline and they suggested we keep him off the boob for awhile. We gave him a dummy and DH rocked him for 7 HOURS. He burped and farted like a trooper and it broke the feed/pain/feed/pain cycle. I believe frequent feeding DOES help but it is only temporary. The sucking does soothe them, but them constant food confuses their tummies.

This is totally my opinion, I have done the hard yards and beleive all babies are diffrent. When DS got narky and uncomfortable we would stretch the feeds out until 3 hours (it was hard sometimes) but it was the only way to get his tummy a break.

    Hi,
I know with DS that he could probably get through the night were it not for wind pains. He can at least do 4 hour stretches, but then the wind pains wake him and the only way to soothe him is to give him a feed. Then he sleeps for at least another couple of hours, but I'm almost 100% sure it's the trying to break wind that wakes him in the first place.
Not sure if that answers the question now

Well Madeleine doesn't really get wind but I give her Infants Friend anyway. She feeds every 4 hours ATM so I am not sure whether I agree with his comment on feeding more frequent can stop Bub from being less windy.
