how long to have full tooth

when i feel my DD gum i can feel a sharp object (which i assume is a tooth). but how long does it usuallly take to come up fully? is it likely to go back down and up and down and up again before it emerges for good>?

It has taken weeks for some of K's teeth to fully come through. One of his molars first cut through over a month ago and it's still half covered by the gum. None of his teeth have ever gone back down again thankfully, once they've broken through the gum they've kept coming albeit a bit slowly sometimes!
