Question Silent reflux now not so silent?!!

    May sound funny ...

DD was diagnosed with silent reflux. We put her on homeopathic drops - and she stopped the fussing, screaming, screwed up disgusted faces etc.. and became a perfect baby.. she never vomited that much thats why they said it was silent, not just reflux.

So now... I've nearly finished the bottle of homeopathic drops.. and she, over the last few days, has begun vomiting... it doesn't appear to be causing her any distress or pain - its more like she gags, and UH OH - out it comes.

And its chunky. So its not overflow from drinking too much, cos it looks like its been partially digested.

So does this mean that she doesn't have silent reflux anymore, just reflux????

I'm unsure whether to get another bottle of homeopathic remedy since its almost finished, and was wondering if this had happened to anyone else - and if it did - did all the symptoms go away and you no longer needed treatment?

    TIA!!!

Hmmm my bub was diagnosed with SR at 10 weeks, he is now 4.5 months and now spews quite a bit some days, other days nothing. It doesnt worry him. I think that its normal for babies to regurg a little (or even a lot) its just the pain that causes problems. As long as there is no discomfort than I'm not concerned.

Elli- yeah the homeopath made up the drops - I didn't know they lose their strength. I've made a call to them - but haven't heard back yet - last night was AWFUL.. was the most unsettled night we have had.. every time she would lie down she would grizzle and cry - so I ended up propping her up on the pillow in our bed, and lying down next to her and she ended up falling asleep, then I moved her to her cot (this was at 1.30) and then she woke an hour later, and then every half an hour after that

We could hear her belly making all these noises and she would burp and fart and everything but was still so unsettled. Not sure if it was because DH got the wrong teats yesterday and she started choking on her milk - or if it was because the drops are nearly finished

    It was shocking anyway..

yeah alot of things influence homeopathic remidies. like where they are stored how they are stored shouldnt be with in 6ft of electrical appliances, dont store in or around bright colour containers.

poor little girl! hope you get it sorted soon anyway

    homeopathic drops for silent reflux

    Hi Arimeh,
I am one of the naturopaths at the Belly Belly pregnancy centre.
Yes definitely continue with the homeopathic drops your homeopath described - she was obviously doing so well on them and as soon as you finished them reverted back to her previous symptoms. No side effects either so what could be better? One other thing that may also help are some baby probiotics ( sometimes when babies are born by caesarian they do not pick up their mother's flora as they do not come down the birth canal ( or if they have had antibiotics at any stage) and this can throw their digestion out of whack). These are available from us at the centre or any good pharmacist.
    Good luck!

    Thanks Jocelyn

She had a much better night last night - we managed to get her some more drops yesterday afternoon - I think the other bottle was perhaps losing its strength - because I realised when I opened the new bottle how much stronger the scent was compared to the old bottle.

I will look into the probiotics (for both children I think) DS has just finished a bout of antibiotics for his pneumonia - and both kids were c/sections.

    Thanks for your advice.
