My DS has just been diagnosed with reflux and we've started on Losec (tonight was the first dose). Just curious to know how quickly it worked for you? My doc said 2-3 days... a friend said 5-7 days.
Also I'd posted earlier about maternal diet changes & colic (before we realised it was reflux). Has anyone else tried dietary modifications and did they help your child's reflux? At present (for 1 week now) I'm avoiding dairy, caffeine, chocolate, spicy food, gas-producing vegies and too much citrus. I also don't eat wheat (my own issue), nor onion (and family), or concentrated fruits & a few other things. My DS is allergic to egg, treenuts & sesame, so i'm also avoiding those at present in case there's a link (and honestly it's too hard to eat them with a 2yo around who cannot!).
In terms of reflux, her bassinet is chocked up, we're keeping her upright for at least 10 mins after each side, I've even been trying to feed her a bit more upright. My LC also suggested giving her only one side per feed which seems to have helped also (she was getting very unhappy on the second side). I'm also going to try wearing her more each day as well. She regularly falls asleep while being burped but then is very unhappy once she's more horizontal.
Any other suggestions? And pls tell me there's light at the end of the tunnel and I'll get my happy baby back? Some days this is fine & I feel I can cope. And other days it feels like a horrible process of getting desensitised to her crying because I cannot fix it. And it's when it DOESN'T upset me that scares me the most. Not to mention trying to keep some quality time for my 2yo which is a whole 'nother challenge.
