Can anyone recommend a good paed in Melb for infant reflux?
Poor Mia has been suffering for a while now, and the Zantac she's on seems to be making stuff all difference. My GP reluctantly gave me a referral to a local paed but when I called them, I can't get in until 22 October!!
I can't put my girl through this for another 6 weeks before we even see anyone - she's in pain every time she feeds and it breaks my heart and often leads me to cry along with her. She also wont take a bottle, so if she's having a tough feeding time, it means she usually goes without as she won't take it from me or a bottle
We use Melbourne Children's Clinic in Camberwell and see Dr Coleman who is very good. She is fairly booked up though, your GP should be able to get an emergency appointment with someone, even the person who you are booked into see in Oct if you ask them too.
I sympathise with you re the long wait to get into a Paed. My DD's appointment is the 26th Oct... and I booked it nearly a month ago!
One of the Mum's at my mother's group sees Ian Rowlinson at Bundoora. She loves him. I have also spoken to a Paed at work who highly recomends this guy... Problem is the waiting list.
As Salsa said, your GP should be able to get you in quicker. My GP was also reluctant to give me a referral but I didn't give him much choice. Give them a call and tell them your child needs to be seen sooner rather than later due to the reflux and can they please contact the Paed's rooms to get you in quicker. If they refuse, ask why.
Apparently in about 7 months I will be a qualified midwife - yikes!

My kids have seen Dr Joe Mel and he is fantastic, lo9vely guy and very thorough. He works from Masada and rooms in Bentleigh East. I totally agree with MG, make the GP ring and book the appt.
I can't help much, as our paed is booked way out too, but I wanted to give you a big hug Kristen. Reflux is so hard We are really struggling ATM, and I'm about to try and get an emerg appt if I can, it just breaks my heart to see him like this.
Unfortunately, in our case, our worst time is with the bottle, he screams all the way through it . I'm unable to fully BF Nicholas, so he has a supp feed after every BF. I persist with giving him the bottle, because otherwise he doesn't gain weight, but it is just dreadful going through it, I feel like such a terrible mother.
So rest assured, you are not alone! I really hope you can get an appt soon..........I agree with the others, try to get your GP to ring for you.
