Severe Wind Pain at 8 Months

I can't find a thread on this anywhere else so here goes...Our DD has always been a colicky bub (we use colic-fomula which has helped) but over the last month or so she has been really windy... She squirms in pain and will stop half-way through a bottle to cry... she calms down when we sit her upright and pat her back... and then often she will do a massive burp (or fart - sorry, couldn't think of a nicer word!!!)
It seems strange that she is so windy at 8 months...
    Has anyone else experienced this?
She is REALLY fussy with solids - does not eat much at all (likes yoghurt, pears, arrowroot biscuits, fruit gels and not a whole lot else)...But it doesn's seem to matter what food she eats - she still gets wind.
She wakes at night too - sometimes she burps or farts and goes back to sleep but other times I have to get her up to burp her...
    All suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Lily

    Hey,
Sorry I haven't experienced this myself, but have you tried something like Bruars (sp?) Colic Remedy or Infants Friend? I know when my bub gets a bit windy/constipated I'll give her a dose of Infants Friend and she will be ok in a few hours time.
Apart from that I can't really help you.
    Good Luck!

Thanks Baby Designer - we own all of those products. I don't know that any one is better than the other, just depends on the day I think!. Went to the Dr today - he said it might be a residual side-effect from a bad bout of gastro about a month ago... Hopefully it will sort itself out and in the mean time we'll keep doing the same things we've been doing I guess...
    Thanks again,

Lily - i am definatly in your boat,.. My son was always a colic baby, but i never knew it till a week ago. he also had terrible wind issues and i thought colic was just burping.
i tried massage and it didnt do anything but upset him. and several colic medications - did nothing! I was VERY scared to get him on solids incase it made him worse and i was very uneasy about what to do. He was squirming and screaming in pain especially in the arvo.
He is 11 months next week and although the days have dramatically improved as he has become stronger and better at passing wind, i occasionally get a very bad night where his tummy hurts so much i have to stand up and bounce him to get back to sleep - one night so bad i woke him up and played with him just to get his bowels moving again - and it worked. currently i have not gone through one single night without at least a couple wakings of wind, but is easily settled with boobies and hes back off again.

Some one i know said there son had colic till he was 18 months. so i think i might be in that catagory also... I think if you have tried medications and there not working and all sorts of movements.. i think your bubs might just have to out grow it. if you think theres further issues i would see ur GP, but everyone i spoke to said.. yeh its normal! Thanks!

Good luck, i know its horrible to watch ur bubs go through it!
