I am trying to figure out what other foods besides dairy make reflux worse... since i became dairy free again theres been about a 50-70% improvement in DS reflux. Today however has been a shocker, the only different things i have eaten are spaghetti bolognaise (last night and today) and green & blacks maya gold chocolate - these are the only things out of the ordinary. Do you think its the chocolate or the tomatoes?
It really could be either - chocolate is a pretty common culprit but tomatoes have a high acidity level. Also, was there any garlic in the spag? That's another thing to look at.
I'd maybe give it a bit to settle back down again and then try only one of those things and see what happens - trial and error really.
Great to hear there has been such an improvement though.
Both of them are high in salicilytes (sp?) and sometimes if the guts are in hypersensitive mode too many salicylites makes things worse. So I was told to alternate or have days off foods that are high in them.
Its a naturally occuring preservative and when Jovie was still recovering from the milk, I found she reacted to spag bol etc.. It was extremely unfortunate, but it only lasted a month or so & I still ate foods with them, just not as often and I alternated days so it wasn't so much.
We lived off stir fries, meat & 3 veg, BBQ, salads etc... it was full on.
Argh, just realised i've eaten advocado too! Man this is frustrating.... I have to start writing stuff down i think.
Its funny because i stopped eating tomatoes when i stopped dairy because i only like tomatoes with cheese, except in spag bol. But it could be any number of things.
I won't have spag bol again for now but in a few days i'll try the chocolate again because i got 2 blocks for $4 so have another sitting there... if the same reaction then i guess dark chocolate is out too.
