My wee one has had reflux since about 2 months is on Losec and its not been too bad in the last few months. The problem is with solids and what ones to give him.He sees a specialist who advised us to try avocado and peach which he is fine with.Hes been eating pear puree for months which seems to be a big part of his diet.At the moment what he eats is pear puree, mashed banana, mashed avocado, rusks, tiny bits of toast with marmite and also some oats but thats it.We have been told not to give him dairy until hes about 1.I am just worried as it seems like such a limited diet.I have tried putting finger foods in front of him like carrot sticks but the only things he eats himself is rusks and toast everything else is spoon fed to him.I would really appreciate some ideas on foods to try especially for breakfast. He ate oats and pear yesterday morning but this morning would have none of it.Also I had to make the oats up in a saucepan(we don't have a microwave) and its so time consuming doing that every morning. Is egg something I could try does anyone know?
Thanks
I've got a 7.5 month old reflux baby who I'm yet to start on solids due to a few other problems, so I don't have first hand info yet. ButI did see a Dietician the other day to discuss what I should offer him when he does start eating solids. Pears, Avocado etc are all great things as you've already discovered (Other mushed vege's supposed to be easily tolerated are Swede and green beans)
And apparently meats are generally well tolerated too! Chicken is the first one to try, then I think it was lamb and maybe even fish (although steer clear if there are allergies in your family). Lower down the list was the beef/veal type meats. Trying this might add a bit of protein to his diet??
Eggs are a bit less likely to be tolerated I believe.
I reckon its really worth seeing a dietician - I got heaps of info/advice from mine. In the ACT you can see one for free through the Maternal and Child Health Services... possibly in other states too? Worth checking out.
