My DD was exactly the same exact she wasn't puttng on a lot of weight. However, she didn't seem upset by the vomiting so I decided to do nothing - she wasnt crying with it or squirming etc, and I didn't want her put onto anything - the MCHN talked about the bottle with whatever that heavy formula is to make sure some stays in their tummies, but I was pretty anti cos 1) I was mostly b/f still and 2) sounded awful, imagine it coming out the other end.
so only my opinion, but if Ethan is still happy, sleeping acceptably and still having nappies etc - I would try and ride it out.
I remember DD doing it after solids too - nothing worse than cottage cheese/avocado mix coming back up into my hair - she was a mess when crawling too. If she cried hard - like, cried hard cos she didn't wanna go to bed as a young toddler too - she would vomit. She hit her head, she would vomit (and I don't mean the scary falls, just fall over with a little bump).
Sometimes it's what you eat that affects them. I kno when I have dairy or chocolate my DS gets really vomitty but when I don't have any he hardly vomits at all. So I have cut all dairy from my diet and chocolate and have substituted with soy for now.
As for taking him to the dr, I agree with SamiH, I souldn't worry if he seems happy enough.
In the begining I cut out ALL of it, then at about 3mths, I slowly started having little bits at a time. I have things with small amounts of dairy in it, like biscuits. I also now have one decaf coffee a day with full cream milk, about 1/4cup. Occaisionally I will have a ham salad sandwich with cheese in it, but not often as it does up set his tum. And I now use butter too, though not alot, only if I have vegemite really! Once in every while, maybe monthly, I will go all out and have a bit of a gorge on it for a day, just to see if he's still sensitive, like for christmas I had buttermilk pancakes with butter, pudding with cream, cheese in salads, my cousins yuummmyyyyy cheesy dip..... and so far he has still been sensitive . It really sucks cause I LOVE dairy foods! And I miss cheese and yogurt!
DS2 was like that - a silent chucker as the paed called it. He said it was perfectly normal and he'd grow out of. And he did. TBH I don't even remember how old he was when he stopped but it took me a couple of days to realise that I hadn't cleaned up vomit in a while!
Sounds the same as my DS! He is 11 months now and I realised a couple of days ago that I don't automatically put a bib on him anymore and that the cloth nappies have left the living room, so I think it started to improve around the 10 month mark...
