Question Teething Question - gummy dummy and panadol use

our little one as started getting her first tooth and it is driving her nuts... during the day she is not so bad, but in the late afternoons and especially at night, she can't sleep and is so upset and in tears.... i have resorted to giving her panadol just to help her sleep.... but obviously i can't keep giving her this on a nightly basis.... can i?? how often is too often with panadol? at the moment have been giving her one dose at 10pm for the last couple of nights... she won't sleep without it...

also, ive just read in the teething thread about gummy dummy's... am thinking of getting her one as i think this would really help, but, i am wondering, we recently weaned her from her usual dummy about a month ago, will she get dependent on a gummy dummy... do they sleep with it, or is it more for the day while they are awake...? i dont want to go back to getting up hourly to putting the gummy dummy back in, if that makes sense...

do u think its possible to just offer the gummy dummy for some temporary relief and not to take to bed with???

oh your poor little girl its horrible isn't it.

i haven't tried the gummy dummy, i have heard many parents say that thier kids didn't take to them and i can't imagine Archie liking it either. But they are cheap so maybe its worth a try, i would probably be a bit worried about her wanting a dummy again though....

As far as giving Panadol every night while she is in pain, i know a lot of mums would say its a no no, but if i had a toothache every night for a week i would take panadol too. there have been times when i have given Archie Panadol every night for a week due to either teething or reflux, i have been told by GP and Pharmacist that it is okay, i do still feel a bit guilty for doing it though, but he is in pain and im not gonna make him scream all night in pain when i can easily give him som panadol to let him get sleep.

Have you tried Bonjella or something similar to help ease the pain?? I found bonjella didn't do anything for rchie but the pharmacist gave us some fantastic stuff called sedalotion/sedagel it numbs the area and helps them heaps, i have even used it for mouth ulcers.

i hope she doesn't have too much pain with her teeth. GL
