Question What to look for - Amber Teething Necklace

I know there are a few threads on WHERE to buy these and i have looked but i really can't afford $40 for a teething necklace at the moment, there are some on e-bay going for around $20 with free postage so wanted to know what to look for so if i do decide to get one i don't get ripped off.

A friend got one off e-bay and she's REALLY happy with it, i just want to know what you all suggest... TIA

I think the main thing is to make sure that it is genuine Baltic amber. Then after that the safety features - a knot between every bead, and a clasp that will easily release if pulled.

We've got the Amberbebe one - it was $40 but I feel like it was money well spent.

Hope you find a good one within your budget.

Um I was a bit the same as you too but got an Amberbebe one. The clasp is made of a plastic screw mechanism that unscrews under pressure (like pulling).. I love this as I know V is safe if it gets caught. Good luck I hope you find what youre after

Thanks everyone, the ones i am looking at have a knot b/w each bead, they say they are genuine (but who wouldn't) and i have sent the seller a question about the clasps.

I am thinking atleast if i get 1 and it works both the girls can use it.

As far as I understand it works by being worn continuously so not sure this would work...

They only wear it while teething though, not 100% of the time?

DD1 has clear teething signs so i was thinking of using it only when she's teething and hoping that her and DD2 don't teeth at the same time.

Will it still work well if i don't have it on her all day every day?

I don't know, I got the feeling that you're meant to leave it on them all the time... and i've found that taking it off usually results in a grumpy baby a few hours later - i think the painkiller effect builds up IYKWIM.

I'm on my way out shortly, but when I get home, if nobody has confired for you, I'll try to track down my instruction leaflet and see what it says.

I went with the Amberbebe one because of the explicit note about guaranteeing the work and the replacement/repair service, over the cheaper Ebay ones. Plus, I bought the mother baby set for $60, which the ebay ones didn't offer
I went for a dental x-ray the other day and didn'th ave to take mine off because it has no metal in it, which was a bonus, cos I nearly lost my earrings after having to take them off!

Thanks everyone.... i have just purchased off E-bay a CHAMPAGNE amber teething necklace, it has all the safety features as previously discussed and i got it for $22.45 with postal insurance.

Will see how it goes, if they work for us then i might invest in an amberbebe one for the girls to share.

thanks so much for your help.
