DS is 4 months old and starting (last 2 weeks) to do the red cheeks drool, chewing, teething thing.
We sacked the dummy 3 days ago (waking 15-20 times a night to put back in)
His mouth is a bit small for most of the teething rings so i was wondering if i could give him a rusk to gnaw on.
I got the raffertys bannana milk ones, they all say from 6mths onwards, but is been my experience that everything is from 6mths+ when it comes to babaies!
They have wheat flour, banana, skim milk powder, wheat germ, yeast, natural flavour, salt and iron.
WDYT??
Safe or too early?
FWIW, he is incredibly interested in us eating, can hold a sitting position pretty well and will sort of lap from a syringe.
TIA
My DS started using rusks at 4 months so I think you should be fine. We were just using the heinz ones and they say 6 months plus on them too, but he didn't have any problems at all on them.
Also alot of the stuff I have read says that the dribbling and what not it a sign that the bubba is ready for some solids, so maybe next time you havea visit with your GP talk to them about introducing some Farex (there is a 4-6month Farex). We used that from four months on with great success.
I tried DS on the only organics ones at about 4.5months, but he didnt want a bar of them... Took till about 6 months till he was ready to get the idea of them. Same with teething rings, but he did love his link rings and they were a good teething substitute for him for ages.
Thankyou Ella and Rufalina.
I am figuring they wouldnt sell them at the supermarket if they were too harmful.
I will try him as he seems to have no problems getting things to his mouth and we are really struggling in the early evenings with him just wanting to shove something in his mouth
I dont know that I will be able to hold him out for 6 months for food as he is drinking 5x200ml bottles a day and not showing any signs of slowing down.
He is also a very spewy bub and heaps of people have told me this will get better with solids
But I will see how he goes with rusks.
Thanx x
.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but my DS spews did not get better with solids, just more chunky and harder to clean up... Took him till he was up and walking to really stop spewing all the time...
But, good luck. Hope he likes the rusks.
