7 month old doesnt want to sleep in his cot

My 7 month old DS has always been a co-sleeper with me (daddy is in another room). He has in the past fallen asleep in his cot and will stay there all night) but just this past few weeks he will literally scream and scream in there until I take him out to sleep with me.

Im just scared now that he will 'roll' out of the big bed.

How can I get him to start staying in his cot. Another thing is he moves around now (crawls backwards) and gets his little foot stuck. He has a Leapfrog Tadpole that plays lullabies which used to always make him fall asleep.

His two top teeth are cutting through too.

I dont want him to scream and scream all night. How can I get him back to his cot.

I hear you. I have no solution but I can relate. My DD is 9 months old and hates her cot. I have tried everything with no luck. She has co-slept with my DP and I since birth and she sleeps through the night most of the time but has recently become a "windmill"! She tosses and turns and my DP ends up in the morning with her foot in his mouth. I do prefer co-sleeping than her crying through the night and tried controlled crying for a while there with NO LUCK. It just stressed me out so much that I had to go to the doctor as I had sleep deprivation. It also stressed her out and I just won't accept that. I must admit, I love waking up beside her each morning.

Our lives as adults are so organised. When my little one doesn't go in her cot, I just think "go in there and sleep!" But sometimes it is not that easy.

Of a day, my DD also sleeps in our bed, I have tried converting the cot now to a toddler bed with a side rail but she hates it. What to do!!

I totally worry she will fall out of the big bed one day but I have no other solution.

I would like to hear some stories too of others experiencing this.

Good luck, I hope your little one goes back in soon but I know exactly what you are going through.

Yup, I have a 9 mth old that did this - at ummm...about 6 or 7 mths? I nearly went nuts until I gave it up.

Now we have jammed the cot up next to our bed which is genius, why didn't we do that before! and he's much happier - if he gets restless I give him my hand and he holds onto my finger for a while till he goes back to being settled again!

DH worries about him crawling out, but I can't see it happening...yet! You could put the cot side up when you're not in bed, and down when you are perhaps?

Thanks Rahjah, she now has a toddler bed and seems to like that better, doesn't like being closed in I think!
