This is a thread I stupidly thought I'd never have to post in! LOL. Claudia has slept through the night from 5weeks. Always self-settled, such a wonderful baby. Then about 4-6 weeks ago she got an ear infection, things went downhill very rapidly from there. Now, at almost 5 months, she is waking every 45 minutes to an hour. I know it's because she can't self-settle herself back to sleep. but she doesn't want me to hold her, sleep with her, I can only get her to sleep during the night by feeding her to sleep & now because she is fed continually all night long, she is not hungry during the day.
I've tried it all, I've let her grizzle, I've done the strict bedtime routines, I've kept the house dark, I've kept it noisy, I've got my hammock back, I'm even walking her in the pram in the afternoon to get her to sleep! During the day she is only having 3 x 30 minute naps if I"m lucky. She likes the movement & the other night I walked her in the pram until 4:30 in the mornign & then the monkey only slept until 6am!
HELP ME PLEASE!!!!
Jayne, I am just taking a punt here, but could she still have some form of ear infection? I know that Charlie had pretty much continual ear infections for a while and his sleep went to pot too.........might be worth checking out?
I with Lucy, get you DD check out to see if there is an ear infection or something else going one. I would also suggest seeing an osteo that specialises in babies. When Maggie's sleep went really bad I found out it was due to a snore neck and some left over birth trauma, the Osteo really helped with that. I did have another underlying issue though with what I was eating, Maggie is sensitive to some food colourings etc. So maybe have a look at your diet and see if you have added anything new.
poor baby and poor you... it sounds like a really tough time u are going through, especially after having the luxury of her sleeping through so well since a young age... i know how much of a shock it is when the sleep gets bad again... im sorry i can't offer any suggestions other than what the others have said.... hang in there, i hope it gets better soon, let us know how you go xx
Hi Jayne
I agree with the other girls you need to check that the ear infection has cleared. One thing It could be that she is missing you during the night you could try is to put the top you have been wearing during the day in the cot with your daughter when she goes to bed. She will then beable to smell you and know that you are close. Hope this helps
Jayne my friend!! i wish i could help you out! I would get her checked out too and what about the kidney reflux like jessica had? Worth getting a look at?
Hey Ladies,
Thanks for your concern, I typed it up in such a rush I should have mentioned that we go to the Chiro to correct a birth trauma to her neck, which is now back inline & I've also had her ear re-checked to ensure that it's better & it is.
I've been speaking to Ngala & they told me that it's basically what Alan has said, she is missing me & she's got herself into a nice little rut that Mummy feeds her to sleep whenever & wherever she wants & I have to slowly wean her off that. Would help if I had a husband who would help me out rather than be out all night at the pub, but that's a complete other story!
So thankfully yesterday afternoon she slept 2 hours & last night she slept 7:30 til 3:30am & then til 5:40 & then til 7 so a definite improvement!
Thanks heaps!
