OK so know I've found reserach that suggests it's good for BF.....ugh who knows....
Kim I was breastfeeding at the time I saw the naturopath, she was from the jean Hailles Institute in Melbourne here for a conference and I told her my history including that Samuel was still b/f multiple times a day and she said to take the 2 blackmores as soon as I wake. It has to my knowledge had no effect on Samuel and had no effect on the breastfeeding. If you are uncertain though it is best to find a naturopath and ask. I know there are several onlines and Blackmores have a website with free advice :)
I only stopped b/f a week before his 2nd birhtday. I had just got a BFP (Joey who was to m/c at 11w4d) and as we were down to just one middle of the night feed by then so I weaned him. I was hoping that by stopping b/f I might just gt past the chem pg stage.
Anyhow good luck and let us know what other info you turn up :)
Judy
Thanks for the support judy. I went and saw one and she's given me a whole lot of herbs and included the vitx which she said was fine.
Gee it tastes awful though lol.
Hi ladies (gents?) After reading this thread just after AF came i went out and got vitex, dong quai, black kosh, vit B and have noticed a huge difference in CM this month. Very obvious EWCM which i have never noticed in previous months TTC. Hope to have some success soon and will keep everyone posted. THanks to everyone's suggestions on what to try!
Has anyone ever taken vitex and then AF was late? I have been taking it for only a month now, and AF is 3 days late. I have read lots of reports of people saying it made their AF come early, but i'm just wondering what is happening to me... either Vitex is playing havoc with me, or maybe i am pregnant!! (yaay - i hope so - we have been TTC #2 for 9 months now. Have not tested yet). Any advice please girls?
Found this...
The current WHO recommendation for women of fertile age, whether pregnant or not, is that their vitamin A intake should not exceed 10,000 IU per day or up to 25,000 IU per week, and that giving a single dose greater than 25,000 IU is not advisable. This recommendation is based on concern about toxicity. High doses of vitamin A cause birth defects. The foetus is most vulnerable in the first two months of pregnancy but it is not certain that higher doses later in pregnancy are safe. Beta-carotene is the safest way to supplement pregnant women, because it is not teratogenic.
Hi SHazz,
Wow, lets hope you are pregnant. Have you done a test since you postered?
Few bits of info for you - vitex is supposed to regulate you cycles. Some women may find it helps them ovulate regularly or that it 'normalises' the amount of days after ovulation - I have heard that if the phase after you ovulate is short say, 10 -12 days it may be hard to sustain a pregnancy - hence if this time is more like around 14 days this is supposed to be the 'norm'. Maybe this is what it has done for you?
I know for myself it stops the early spotting just before AF arrives , thus sustaining the phase post ovulation.
Are you charting? Can you pin point your ovulation day?
Hugs,
Mich
Hi Mich,
Well i did have good news, but now it is sad news. I did get a BFP from this cycle on Vitex, but then i miscarried. Doc says from hcg levels i was 5.5 weeks. So... sad news, but we're not giving up! Have been charting temps for 9 months and will go back to this again. Doc has referred us to fertility specialist, but we just want to try a few months on our own one last time. I am going to go back on the vitex as soon as i am back to normal (i have chosen to let things resolve naturally as opposed to a d & c which i had to have for amiscarriage a few years back). Hubby is going to try zinc supplements now too, as this is meant to be good for creating healthy sperm. Please keep fingers crossed for us!
Good luck to everyone else TTC as well.
hope2006 - sorry to hear of your loss
hi ladies, anyone had any good/bad dealings with fibrofem and/or polyfem in fertility management? i am just about to go on them but was just wanting to know of any recommendations or the like. also been put on pms relief which contains vitex, any knowledge or help would be much appreciated
Hope, thats terrible news, I am so sorry to hear that you m/c. I have just gone back to charting too but it sounds like 'at least' you must of got the timing right, just got to make it stick.
Klee, I see your mood says 'crappy'. thats no good hun. Sorry I can't help you with those particular supplements, I've never heard of them.
Hugs,
Mich
Hi everyone.:)
Can anyone recommend a good herbalist or naturopath for fertility issues in Melbourne?
Anyone know a good brand of Dong Quai and Black Cohosh? My cycles are getting shorter and I'm getting sadder!!
Thanks,
Jo
hi ladies, i've read it here somewhere before, but can anyone tell me what supplements men can take to help their swimmers and with ttc, was it zinc or something?
Zinc and vitamin C are tops for swimmers,
All the best, Mich
