    4 positive hpt, 1 negative doctors test...HELP :-(

    Hi there,
    I'm new on here :-)
Ok so...I did two different brand home pregnancy tests yesterday 15dpo (af was meant to arrive but I got brown spotting only when I wiped...sorry tmi) and got 4 BFPs on the tests, 1 on forelife, 3 on first response, and went to the doctors this afternoon and got a BFN :-( Boo. I also bought a different brand test (crystal clear) and got a BFN at home right after the doctors. :-(

Are the doctors and crystal clear tests not as sensitive as forelife and first response?
I did drink quite a bit of water at work today, so maybe too diluted?
I don't understand and am quite disappointed about it. Any help, support, anything. I'm losing hope! Is it possible to want it so much that I've wished those two little lines there on the other two tests?
I'm 16dpo now, and AF always comes like clockwork on the 28CD.

The doctor told me to come back in a week if AF hadn't shown up but I'm having symptoms atm (sore boobs, vivid dreams, watery/green/yellow CM (sorry if TMI), have a bit of cramping like AF was on her way but have had that for about a week now, headaches, increased saliva, quite irritable..lol..
Can post photos of the BFP's if anyone wants to help...just have to figure out how. Lol.

    Anyone else have this problem?

    Hi Alice

    Welcome to Belly Belly!!

Do you know if your doctor did a qualitative or quantitative blood test? A very early pregnancy (as yours would be) might not show on a qualitative test.

Unfortunately, I dont have a great amount of knowledge in this area, but a low HCG result might result in it not being picked up on a blood test that is not quantitative.

It is very rare that the HPTs give false positives. Especially as you have done four of them!

Did your doctor offer any explanation?

ETA - it might have been a chemical pregnancy and you are no longer "pregnant"???

    Good luck!

I had this happen to me with my 7th baby.
I had done 5 or HPT (little bit of shock ) and they where all positive...plus the fact I knew I was pregnant.
I went to my GP and the nurse did a urine test and very rudely said I wasn't pregnant...I said yes I am am and she checked again after a bit and it was very, very feint and she still said you are not pregnant.
The GP sent me for a blood test which was pos...he is now my cheeky 16 mth old boy
Sometimes the test at the doctors are not as sensitive as the ones you buy at the chemist.
Did he do a blood test?
Maybe try again on another first response...they are the ones I always got my early BFP's
    Good luck

What time did you do the other tests at home? If the the morning could be that the levels were stronger then and the water has diluted them since.

No. He just looked at me like I made it up (the BFP hpts) and said...well if AF hasn't arrived in a week come back and we will try to figure out whats going on.
It's a bit shattering. I was starting to get a little excited.

I did one yesterday at about 1.30pm (forelife), another at about 4pm (first response), another at about 5.40pm (First Response), and another this morning when I woke up (& another first response...lol).
Went to the doctors at 1.45pm today and got BFN. As well as the crystal clear at about 2.30...another BFN.

Alice take a test tomorrow morning if it's pos then demand a blood test sometimes in a chemical pregnancy you can experience the positives then negatives. Hope this is not what you have. Goodluck tomorrow

My 1st pg was like that. I had 2 BFP as home and the dr's was a BFN.

I went for a blood test on the Friday, and as I couldn't wait till Monday for the results did another test over the weekend with a much clearer result..

It is quite possible that it was too early for the dr's test to p/u.

I've been told by dr's that their urine tests aren't as sensitive as HPT's and that you won't get a positive on their tests until you're a couple of weeks late! I wouldn't be disheartened by the dr's test.. if you have 4 positive HPT's.. it's pretty safe to say you're UTD I've had a GP just believe me straight up with a HPT, no blood tests, nothing. Just referrals for the big blood tests and also the 12 week scan.

    Congratulations

Lol. I hope it's not a chemical pregnancy and just the test being silly. Lol.
Does that happen offen (Positive HPT and negative doctors?)
I'm clutching at straws here. Lol.

    Alice

He is crazy IMO for asking a lady to wait a week at 16dpo. In an IVF cycle, 16 dpo is when you test via BT.

Sometime's GP's just dont get how hard it is to wait

If I where you, I call the clinic, speak to the GP and ask him to leave a BT Request form at reception for you, be assertive. It's no skin of his nose hun

    Best of luck

Yeah, I'd love to do that. Although I'm a little shy, kinda a 'what he says is obviously right' kinda person, so didn't ask for one, even though I wanted to.
PLUS...he is indian and speaks a little fast and seemed quite rushed. offered no explaination, or anything.
And no...I have no patience. Lol. A week is a very long time if you ask me. Lol. I'm gonna go crazy waiting. Maybe in the mean time I will find a nice doctor who takes time to explain things to me?
I mainly only use this one because it's always easy to get an appt...maybe thats saying something. LOL.

Hey alice, this happened to me twice. One turned out to be a chemical pregnancy, and another was my last miscarriage...but that pregnancy progressed until nearly 12 weeks. It's because the doctors tests aren't as sensitive as first response which are the brand i have always used. All the best hun, i hope it's a sticky BFP!! xxxxx

Ok, feeling a little up-sy down-y at the moment. Lol.
I want to get excited and positive that the doctors test wasn't as sensitive, but I don't want to get my hopes up incase it's a chemical pregnancy. :-( Argh.
This sucks. I don't know how anyone can handle it. Lol.

How common is it to get a positive on the doctors urine test this early?

I got a negative urine test at the dr this time round after lots of positive ones at home. He did the blood test anyway and it came back positive. I am very surprised that you didn't have a blood test despite the urine test result! Blood tests are always more accurate this early.
I would do another test at home in the morning using a brand that you have gotten a positive on before.
