    Wanting some info please

    Hi All,
My DF and I have been TTC for the past seven months with no luck. I went and spoke to my OB and he has booked me in for a HSG (hysterosalpingoram). Has anyone had one and how painful was it? Also I have heard this can sometimes increase your fertility by up to 30 per cent as it can flush out any blockages or debris that may be in there. I would love to hear fro
anybody who has undergone one of these procedures, how long afterwards did you conceive?
Any comments or information would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi camnciarasmummy!

Sorry to hear that the TTC journey isnt playing nicely atm. I had this done as part of a laparoscopy, not sure if thats the norm or just what our clinic does? I cant really say how painful it was as it wasnt done alone but if it isnt part of a laparoscopy I have to doubt it would be very painful, perhaps more uncomfortable. Do you know if you are given any sedative for it or is it a simple procedure?

From what I rememebr that procedure is, as you say, flushing out the tubes etc so you can 'start a fresh'. Good luck with it, hope it works a treat for you!

Im not a huge help, sorry

i had this done 3 weeks ago. its not too bad... very similar to a pap smear. i had a bit of cramping that day and spotting for 2 days. it hasn't helped this time with fertility as i have just got af now. i didn't have any blockages though.

    good luck

Thanks ladies, Lilly Dust it's just going to be a single procedure and no sedative. I guess I'm a little curious as I have read quite a few articles about this where couples have been TTC for some time then. 1-3 months after having this done they are PG.

I had it done 18 months or so ago. No sedative, but definitely take pain killers beforehand. It hurt a bit.

    No pregnancy resulting here

I would assume it would only help if there was a blockage found.

^^^ yeah that. So if a blackage IS found then I would think it woul be a great help!

Didnt help me but then no blockages were found either.

    Hi camnciarasmummy

Sorry to hear your TTC is taking so long.

I have had a HSG in the last month, I found it to be uncomfortable (worse then a pap smear), my suggestion would be to take a pain killer before hand.

I have also read that having a HSG can increase your chances of conceiving.

I bleed afterwards like a period, but no period pain or cramping. I have PCOS and never get a regular period, so I don't know if it was truma from the HSG or it brought on a period.

Good luck though - this could work for you
