    Smile Acupuncture Sydney?

    Hi

I'm looking for an acupuncturist recommendation in Sydney? We have been TTC for 1 year, and are staring IVF (with Dr Sacks at IVFA) in about 6weeks.

I have been seeing an acupuncturist at Rozelle Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Centre for around 6 months. Although I've heard great things about them, the acupuncturist has recommend things to take during my TWW that I don't agree with and should be avoided during pregnancy. Also I dont really think the chinese herbs were right for me as they lightened my period, which was a good flow to begin with.

I have made an appointment to see Lily Lui in Surry Hills, but can't get in until the day we start IVF, given how long it takes to get an appointment with her, I'm concerned I wont be able to make appointments with her for following up during the first month of IVF.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi PeaceLover. When I lived in Sydney I saw a wonderful Dr - Dr Giselle Cooke (who also practices naturapthy and TCM) in Neutral Bay. She has a natural health practice called The Modern Apothecary ph02) 9953 7881. I would give them a call and see if they could recommend someone for you. They specialise in natural fertility management so I'm sure they could put you onto an acupuncturist who specialises in assisted fertility and conception.

    Good luck!

    hi peacelover

i used a fab lady called Jane Lyttleton. She's in paddington. she is sooo nice and calm.

i also saw lily liu and found her to be outrageously expensive and made me really stressed and panicked about everything.

    good luck

Hi Krips, thanks for your suggestion, I was hoping to find something a little closer. Although did you have any success with Dr Giselle Cooke ?

Hi Sarak, thanks so much for your message, and feedback about Lilly Lui. I have heard about Jane Lyttleton, can you tell me if you have had any results with acupuncture? I've read mixed reports, so am wondering how others found it? Did it help you - Also Krisps? What about you?

    Hi Peacelover

I'm a Dr S patient as well, and did acupuncture throughout my IVF cycles.
When you do your egg pick up & transfer with Dr S, you will do it at the Maroubra clinic... They have an IVF acupuncture clinic right next door to the day surgery where you will have it done.

The pracitioners there are absolutely wonderful, & will fit in around your times... One of them met me at 7am one morning to give me a treatment before transfer

Either call Dr S clinic for the number, or google IVF acupunture Maroubra

Good Luck with your upcoming cycle, Dr S is wonderful

Thanks Hollybolly, thats a great recommendation, I though the pickup and transfer would be there I'll give them a call. Was there anyone in particular you saw? Or are they all much the same?

I've heard great things about Dr Sacks, he's pretty straight without beening insensitive. The only thing is I've also heard the murmmer, that IVF Australia only doing pick ups 3 days per week, can reduced your chances of collection, if there not collected at the optimal time. I cant seem to find any solid evidence on this though.

    to you!

    Acupuncture Sydney?

I didn't have IVF, but I did have accupuncture for the final 15 weeks of my pregnancy. I saw a fantastic accupuncturist called Svenja Petry at Art of Health in Annandale. She also does remedial massage, and will do combined accupuncture/massage appointments. She's a doula too so quite into the whole pregnancy thing. I got on fantastically with her and found her to be one of those few beariful souls that you come across in life. I can't recommend her highly enough.

    Thanks

Thanks for your recommedation, I'll look into her. I've made an appointment to see Jane Lyttleton, so I'll see how that goes. I do know the place in Annandale. Did you do anything during the first trimester? There is so many things you cant do, wondering what it is safe to do?

    Acupuncture Sydney?

I didn't - I had been planning to go for accupuncture from
About 30 weeks but had problems with my pelvis so started accupuncture/massage at 25 weeks instead. A good accupuncturist should know what you can and can't do. Svenja did my induction accupuncture (and waters broke 10 minutes after the session on my due date!) as well as giving my DH and I instruction on accupressure during labour and she was very clear on when to wait until for certain points with both. I'm sure if you called her she would tell you when you could have appointments and for what.

I meant to say congratulations on your pregnancy in my first post, but I was writing while feeding in the night so I wasn't quite with it!!

How funny I just came across this post and my son is now 26months old. He's a super healthy very tall very solid boy and came at 35 weeks as I developed pre eclampsia so the doctors said instead of medicating decided to just get him out.

What I was annoyed about with Lily Liu is that one the second visit I had gone with my pregnancy blood results and she had said my hormones weren't high enough and the pregnancy wouldn't work out. Wow. Well she couldn't have been more wrong. The doctor had said as it was a natural pregnancy I was actually not 5 weeks but only 4 weeks pregnant, hence the hormones not being quite high enough. With natural pregnancies they say you never know.
