HI everyone. I am so very depressed. I have no one to talk to. My hubby and i have been trying for 11 months now and its not working. I am fine apart from at the age of 29 i only JUST found out i was born with one kidney but am fertile. My hubby was tested and his motility is not fabulous. Theres only a 2 % chance of him getting me pregnant. I am trying hard to concentrate on when i am ovulating without stressing too much, but ive started to give up. I cant afford IVF. The cruel thing is my hubby is a school teacher and loves kids, and i adore them also. EVery time my period comes i cry. Its terrible. A baby is all we want. To love and give a great home to. I am so sad.... WHat else can i do. ANy one else having terrible time? I dont feel like i get a lot of mucus, at time of ovulation, so i feel like maybe i dont ovulate always. We just want to be parents. It really takes a lot out of you and I know i should try not to think about it, but when you see people getting pregnant so easily it makes me depressed. Ah well, i have to think it WILL happen

Hi there, I just wanted to give you a big cyber hug.

Please keep in mind you still have that 2% chance. Do you chart at all?? Taking your temperature throughout your cycle as well as checking your cervical mucas will give you a better idea of ovulation. There is a great site that alot of the ladies TTC on this site use, I also used it & found it very helpful, its called "fertility friend", look it up, you can trial it for free.

know when you're having trouble concieving you always notice alot of pregnant woman around you or woman with babies, it's tough, I guess they've always been there its just that because thats your focus you notice it more?

Wishing you lots of luck, I really do hope your dream of having your own child happens very soon.

Also, You will find lots of support in the TTC (trying to concieve) threads. It may be of some comfort to chat with others in very similar situations.

There are also supplements you can take: to increase your cervical mucous, try taking Evening Primrose Oil until you ovulate, and drink lots of water which also increases mucous.

For DH, supplements which might help include zinc, selenium and from memory saw palmetto. I remember a friend years ago was told she and her DH had almost no chance of conceiving naturally due to his sperm motility, and he took supplements and hey presto! a beautiful daughter. (It might be an idea to google male fertility supplements.)

Thanks. Does anyone know what my hubby can take ie should he be taking multi vitamin tablets with zinc? And should I take any thing or is evening primrose good enough?
I appreciate everyones advice and support, its great to have other people to talk to who know what im going through

Hi Babyhopeful and welcome to BB!! this is a fantastic place with loads of support and information.

If you're not already, you should be taking folate or some type of pre-conception multivitamin with folate in it. Zinc for blokes is helpful too. If you go to the top right hand side of the page and click on conception articles, there is some good information in there that might be helpful.

Do check out the long term TTC threads. The other ladies in there will have heaps more detailed and accurate information about things to try and places to go for more assistance.

Have you been to a fertility specialist?
My Df had low sperm count and lazy sperm and the FS did tests to see exactly why and in our case we were lucky because it was something that was treatable.
With you have you had any blood tests? I remember I had one on a certain day of my cycle just to make sure I was O.
As another poster suggested fertilty friend is a great website to use to moniter your temps and your CM.

i agree...i reckon u need to go see an FS... after 2 years of trying i fell pregnant on my first cycle with firtility drugs. HTH

Your DH can take a multi called Menevit - its new and designed for healthy sperm and you can get it from chemists or online.

I agree with the charting - it will at least help you pin point and you can also buy some preseed which will help if you don't have a lot of CM

I would also get a b/t done by the GP to at least check your ovulation....and go from their. Get them to test your progesterone at the same time

While IVF is not cheap - it doesn't always have to be whole IVF hog - there is IUI, OI and other thing and Medicare covers quite a lot of it.....probably worth checking

Thanks again everyone. Today my hubby and I went to a fertility doctor. He told me to take elevit. He also reas my hubby's results and it turns out he is fine and there is a 35% chance of getting me pregnant not 2% which I thought. We have to do another specimen sample and I may have to have a laparoscopy to rule out a blcokage.
But good news is that today I am ovulating. Yay. My hubby and I had sex (sorry to be graphic) but i want to know, do i have to keep my legs up for a while afterwards or should i just not worry? So because I am ovulating today, will i have a chance of falling pregnant in the next two days?

I keep telling myself that I WILL get pregnant to try and think positive. Fingers crossed. We can only hope

Good luck, hopefully you will fall preg on your own.
At least your FS is getting things organised and checking everything out so to set you on the right path.
As for holding legs up well I don't know if there is proven evidence but most ppl do it just to give those spermies extra help, they don't have to fight gravity trying to get to that egg!

I'm no expert but I think if your having ovulation pains etc today then you've got a good chance falling pregnant having DTD (done the deed) today. I would also DTD tomorrow & the following day just to be sure as sometimes you can get ovulation pains before you ovulate & also a positive ovulation prediction test a day or 2 before too.

I've heard of keeping your legs up to try to encourage the sprem to go in the right direction, dont know if it works but my fertility specialist told me back in 2003 to put a pillow under my bottom afterwards to encourage them in the right direction.

Try to stay positive & I hope this does the trick for you!!

PS I have also heard that after having a laparoscopy you can be incredibly fertile, I was actually told this after I had my laparoscopy in 2005 but as my daughter was only about 6 months old I didnt take advantage of it at the time. Just thought I'd let you know that so if it does come to you needing the lap there is a silver lining (besides finding out if there's a blockage etc)

Thanks for the advice. I ovulated last tuesday and wednesday and my hubby and i dtd. I am hoping it works but trying not to think about it.

My period is due next wednesday so lets hope it doesnt arrive
