Red face AF arrived today!!! Has anyone tried acupuncture?

Af arrived today. At first I was feeling sad that it wasn' t to be this month. Then I thought, well blow that, I'll go and celebrate. I am going shopping this arvo and going out tonight!!!

I have PCOS and I have achieved another regular cycle - that makes 2 in a row. If that continues to happen, then we are in a with a chance that we can do it ourselves again (for the 3rd time!! 1 successful, 1 not). Fingers crossed, that O continues to be regular.

My OB wanted me to start clomid when DS turned 1 but I think I will continue to resist given that Aunty Flo has had regular visits.

Just wondering if anyone has tried acupuncture to keep cycles regular, my follicular phase is a little longish (about 21-22 days), luteal phase appears to be about right (13-14days, so another cause for celebration!!). CM has given me all the right signals!!

Can anyone advise on whether acupuncture might be able to shorten the follicular phase a bit? so O can happen a bit more often. I would like to get my cycle down to 28 to 31 days (35 at the moment)!!

I think I will also treat myself with a massage.

Good luck to all the ladies TTC.

    TICKLISH.

    Hey Ticklish,
    That is awesome
I am having acupuncture at the moment...nothing happening yet though.
But I have heard great stories about acupuncture.
I think you should definitely give it a go.

    Hi Ticklish

I am having a very looooooong cycle ATM (almont 12 weeks since AF) and started acupuncture 2 weeks ago. Have had 2 sessions and it has really eased my PMS, as it was previously raging!!!!

Am due back on Tues and am also going to ask her about herbal medicine as well. The only way I'll get a BFP is to regulate my cycles, so I'll try anything.

Good on you for having some pampering ie shopping, going out and massage. I treated myself to a massage last week and felt fantastic afterwards. TTC can be an emotional rollercoaster, so sometimes we need time out and have some pampering!!!!!

    Good luck to you

Thanks for your positive comments gals.

I think I will give the acupuncture a try and see what it does, might be next month though. Kinda like to see what pattern I get from 3 cycles so I know what needs to be fixed. I can get 2 good ones and then go haywire (so fingers crossed for this cycle!!!), I can be anything from 28 days (perfect!!) to 6 months (not good!!). Some women think we are lucky not getting AF that often.

Went shopping - bought some new clothes and went out for dinner. Made an appointment for a massage next week. I recommend this retail therapy - luckily DH doesn't mind too much!!!!!

I have decided that during this TTC journey I am going to treat myself with a little retail therapy or personal indulgence every time AF pops her head in.

I think I am going to enjoy this!!!

Ticklish, i love the retail therapy too.
Whenever af arrives i always treat myself to a pick me up shopping trip. I usually get one item that i want (not necessarily need) or i have a really relaxing massage or pedicure. it really does work i highly recommend it

    Hi Ticklish,

Just wanted to let you know I have suffered from various different types of problems relating to my cycle since I was 9 when I first got AF.
After years of trying to get a hold on things through medication, my mother saught the help of an acupuncturist...
I cannot speak highly enough, my cycles have gone from two weeks of bleeding, 3 - 10 days ok, and then 2 weeks of bleeding again to 28 days each cycle like clockwork.
I ovulate on day 14, and CM does everything it is supposed to at the right parts of my cycle.
I also take chinese herbs, too - both for my well being, but also as we are TTC no 2 after quite a long run of bad luck!!!

I can definately recommend acupuncture for the regularity of your cycles... if you are having it regularly (approx every 2 weeks) you should see the difference as early as 1-3 cycles.

    Love Holly

Thanks Holly - I am looking forward to trying acupucture - have heard that it can work and acheive good results. I was going to wait another cycle - but I had a rethink and am going for my first session next week and am looking forward to it. I would like a cycle that worked like clockwork. Sorry to hear about your run of bad luck - we have been through some ourselves.

Mrs B26 - I am with you. We all need a little pampering!!!

AN UPDATE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED!

Geez, this acupucture is good stuff. It is working a treat. Had much better O this month - not so sluggish and AF is better too!! (more normal, not so long and heavy!) AND the best bit is my cycle is much shorter too!!!

Didn't catch the eggy this month but having a much shorter follicular phase with the acupucture, we at least have MORE chances. YEAHYEAHYEAH!!! It is always a cause for celebration when AF decides to visit regularly (I have PCOS!)

P.S. My treat this month was rich dark chocolate - really indulgent - I ate the whole block (well, almost - I did give DH one piece!)

Ticklish - my bleeding responded really well from acup and herbs. I no longer get any clots and am much more regular with far fewer PMS events. It even stopped the terrible hormonal headaches I used to suffer every cycle.
I am thrilled you are seeing changes already, it certainly helps one to feel better doesn't it.
Hope the improvements keep coming for you.

Thanks Sonya. Yep, sure makes a difference. Weird isn't - how sticking needles in can make a difference. Some points I don't feel and others - well they are sore and that seems to be where the problems are!!!
Doing the same this cycle and hoping for similarly good results.
