AF and Ovulation

looooooooooooooooooong story short, I was speaking with a Dr recently, and she said to me that you O every time you have a period.

is it that simple?

My understanding is that ovulation is followed by a period (unless pregnancy occurs), but periods do not always follow ovulation as we can fail to ovulate any month for a number of reasons.

^^ What n2l said - I have annovulatory cycles (no egg released) all the time (hence the reason the long time between children) but still eventually get af

Yep, what n2l and rhichichi have said. Saw an ob/gyn last month and she said you can definitely get a period without ovulating. As far as I know, the lining of your uterus breaks down after a certain time (if you don't ovulate) so you get AF.
