    BBT and OPK Confusion

    Here's the scenario:

Positive OPK on Friday night but temp didn't spike untill Tuesday meaning O was on Monday. Does anyone know if it's possible to have O'd even a day or so before temp spikes or is it definately only then?

    Hi,

Its definitely possible to O a few days before the temp rise. I've read it can take up to 3 days for your BBT to go up. Fertility Friend always counts O as the last day before temp rise but I know this isn't always the case. If you got +ve OPK on Friday then you could have O'd Saturday or Sunday and then had it take a day or so for the temp to go up. My last couple of natural cycles my temp went up at 2DPO.

    Hope this helps

You ovulate 36 hours after the LH surge which is what the OPK picks up. Maybe the one on Friday night picked up the beginning of the surge & you ovulated later. The temp rise is caused by progesterone which is released immediately after ovulation so the very next day after ovulation your temp should be rising.
