I am from the UK and my partner is from the US however we are based in Holland mostly and we really want to start trying to get pregnant.
I have ordered some ovulation tests to start tracking my cycles but we are confused about what to do about sperm. We've looked at sperm banks but we're also looking at fresh donor sperm. Can anyone advise which is best? Sperm banks seem quite expensive where as fresh donors seem to be much cheaper. Are our chances better with fresh sperm?
And with frozen sperm, how does it work? Like how do we defrost it and stuff?
And what is the best insemination technique? Any tips to increase our chances?
I have many more questions but I'll leave it at that for now. We would really appreciate help as it seems the more we look online for information, the more confused we get!
Forgive me if i'm assuming, but i'm guessing you guys are a lesbian couple and are looking for donor sperm! Is that right? You may not be though...anyway...
If so, there is a fantastic book available online called The Ultimate Guide to Pregnancy for Lesbians (How to stay safe and care for yourself from preconception through birth). It is by Rachel Pepper.
This book is fantastic, and will answer all of your questions about donors, donor sperm, fresh vs frozen, sperm banks etc
