Hi. I'm posting this here, thinking some of you already had experience with an opk, and can therefore offer me some insight. My dh lives in another country so our intimate time together is very limited, at the moment, which is why I have so many questions...
Hello. First cm appeared friday. Yesterday at about 6:30 pm(saturday) I tried an opk and it didn't show as positive. Today is sunday and at 8:30 am, it showed a great positive.
I always have the cm on 'that' friday, then the ovulation pain on sunday (cm, too)... My question is this: on october 31, when I will ovulate once again, I will not be able to have intercourse with my dp, because he will be out of the country.... However, we will be together until the evening (8pm) before, october 30th.... Is that ok in terms of conception? And what does it mean that the LH line showed positive today, when for sure that major ovary pain from ovulation will happen today, 7 hours after the lh line showed? I'm concerned because we won't be together when the actual pain happens... Plus, I tested early today and they say it usually doesn't show iin the early am but for me it was almost instant! Thanks.
I took opks every cycle for months, and only showed a positive one month ... didn't show a positive when we used chlomid, and didn't show a positive when we got pg!!
so other than to say and good luck, I don't think I give any personal advice ...
but I remember that I had been told that you have a 12 - 36 window either side of your positive days, and keep in mind that spermies can live in utero for several hours, too
and you can apparently DTD every 36 hours without worrying about limiting your man's supply.
I think there would be a good chance if you're dtd on the 30th. I know everyone is different, but all of my kids have been conceived on days I did not ovulate.
Ovulation kits say that once it turns positive you will most likely ovulate within the next 12-36hours....and there for if you have had sex the previous couple days and while ovulating you will have you're best chance to fall pregnant...they even say to start trying to concieve 3-5 days prior to ovulation and then a couple days after for the best possible chance...they say some sperm can last up to 3-5days so i think it just really depends...
generally you ovulate 12-48 hrs after you receive the first high/positive LH reading. so if you think you are due to ovulate on the 31st i would say that you will still be fertile on the 30th! The egg can survive for up to 12hrs (maybe a bit more) and the sperm can last for up to 6 days! but you need to take into consideration a fewhours for the egg and sperm to meet! Hehehe. If you are interested the female sperm last for up to 6 days and the male sperm usually only last for 24-48hrs so depending on what your aiming for or if your just happy with what ever you are given thats up to you...in your case i dont think you can really choose sorry!
My DH and i DTD 6 days before ovulation with this one and we got lucky which suprised me!! I use 3 different methods of charting my ovulation too so i know exactly when it took place.
Cervical position, temping and CM is a good way of charting ovulation although the CM can vary dramatically from person to person for example i usually have CM approx 4 days of EWCM and then it stops for one day and then a big blob and then i ovulate that day. sorry if TMI
Good luck! Hope you get the resulty you are looking for.
