Hi!
For those of you who have fallen pregnancy whilst breastfeeding (ie- with your second or subsequent child), did the early pregnancy symptoms you experienced whilst breastfeeding differ at all from the early preg symptoms you encountered with number 1?
With DS 1#, I remember that I developed incredibly sore boobs from about a week after ovulation, combined with early waking and very mild nausea upon waking (went away as soon as I ate).
I haven't tested yet, but DH and I have been trying since Dec for number 2#, and my period is late. I am getting regular high temps but have promised myself not to waste money on a test until I reach day 40 of my cycle. (Day 37 today). My usual cycle is around 30 days but whilst breastfeeding my cycles have been longer. They have been gradually getting shorter as I wean (last one was 33 days, the one before 35 days) so I am not THAT overdue yet - iykwim? So I'd rather test later than sooner....
But- I have a strong feeling that I could be pg, despite the absence of the very sore boobs I had last time.
Do you think that the breastfeeding (I am only down to 1 feed a day now) would reduce the severity/eliminate breast pain and even the nausea somewhat? Did you find that happened to you? I was thinking perhaps that bcoz I am still bfding, some preg hormones are still floating around so the sudden rise in hormones would not cause the nausea it did last time?
I'd really love to hear your experiences of early preg symptoms whilst breastfeeding and how they differed (if at all) to your pg without breastfeeding.
Thanks- sorry I went on forever. Praying for a BFP.....
I fell pregnant with #2 when I was breastfeeding my 5.5 month old, I do recall feeling nausea once within days off conception but that was after I walked into a butcher shop and the smell hit me I felt so off, other then that I did have sore nipples but I can`t recall much else. With my first I had every symptom under the sun from conception onwards but then my pregnancy this time didn`t give me too many signs either, as my DH says your first pregnancy your body has to do so much adjusting compare to subsequent pregnancies so your body isn`t going to show as many signs as your first, I never believed him till this pregnancy!!!!
For me, yes. I had very tender breasts when pregnant with DS and not at all with DD, not even when I weaned DS at about 4 months pg.
The morning sickness was much worse with DD but both times it didn't really hit till about 7 weeks pg ut I wonder if it was worse because I was under a lot of stress at the time, still bfing and not getting nearly as much rest.
Thanks for the replies. So far I only have very mild nausea upon waking which goes away when I eat. From your comments it seems that the lack of breast pain whilst preg and bfding is usual...? Good to know. It's day 38 now- and no sign of af. Thinking positive!!
