Clearblue test is positive, have I done it right?

Hi all, my period was due a few days ago and having been trying for 18mths I did a test today, it came up positive immediately, my question is, if there was to much urine on the tip (midstream test) would that cause a positive result by mistake or if I was to much woul no lines show up at all?
