New at this but already struggling

    Hi!
I'm new on here... Mostly because I'm the first of my friends to start trying and have no one to bounce ideas and concerns off of.
So... I've only recently started trying. Went off a very low dosage OCP (Microgynon) in August and have been very careful until we started trying last month. My last 3 cycles have been 28 days, 28 days, 32 days... Now there is this one...
Started trying "gently" just by using an ovulation calendar and trying every day for a week straight to cover all bases (wasn't sure if my cycle would be 28 or 32 days). My last period was on Dec. 8 and still waiting for the next one. Have taken 2 Crystal Clear tests and both were negative (one on Mon Jan 5 and one on Sat Jan 10).
Have been feeling all the usual period 'symptoms' for about a week, but nothing. So confused and driving me insane... Anyone have any ideas???

Hi Marilynne, welcome to the lovely (but sometimes confusing and frustrating) world of TTCing

It's great that your cycles seemed to be fairly regular as soon as you came off the OCP. That's always a comforting thing to start with. Do you know if you are definitely ovulating each month? I can always feel (rather strongly) when I ovulated, and even know what side I am ovulating from, but it's not always that easy for many girls. Many girls on here (myself included) used a website called FertilityFriend (google it ) to track our BBT and/or cervical mucus to learn more about our cycles and our bodies in order to determine when we would expect to ovulate each month, and to also confirm that ovulation had actually occurred. If you are not sure how "temping" and "charting" works, you can learn all about it on the FertilityFriend website too.

If you were BDing every day during your fertile period then you should be in there with a chance assuming you ave ovulated this month. With AF not having shown up yet there is a chance that your cycle is either a little out-of-whack this month and that AF is going to show up late, or it's possible that you ovulated later than usual and that the tests were just taken too early for them to pick up any hcg in your urine yet. I was always a bit of a "serial-pee-on-a-stick-er" and if I were in your shoes I just know that I would be testing almost daily in the hopes of two lines showing up.

Unfortunately I don't think there is much you can do besides wait and see at this stage. I sincerely hope that in the next few days you test again and get a nice big fat second line.

    Good luck!

    Thank you!
    It's just so frustrating!
I haven't been stressed either. Maybe a little excited, but not stressed at all.
    Thanks for the website tip.
You're right - just have to sit here and wait!

If you really want to check, go see your GP and get a blood test. Then you will know definitely one way or another....
The waiting and not knowing is the hardest part.
    Good Luck!
