My brain is just mush sometimes lol. I'm a bit confused about EWCM and ovulation; does the EWCM occur after ovulation or before? And is the cervix sort of hard during ovulation? Sorry to make another thread It's all so complicated! I *should* be ovulating right now and I have mild cramps but my cervix is high and firm and I don't have EWCM, instead it's watery and clear/whitish, though there's a fair bit of it. I figure I could be about to ovulate in the next couple of days, in which case, does the fact that I DTD on the 28th (remembering that there are only 28 days in Feb) mean I could fall pregnant? Surely the EWCM would have to exist before the sperm or they couldn't swim through it!?
EWCM generally occurs in the few days leading up to (and day of) ovulation. But rememer that not everyone gets EWCM, its important to keep an eye on your CM because what ever is the wettest-quality CM for you is your fertile CM. For example, I don't get any EWCM, but mine is quite watery around the time of ovulation (sounds similar to yours actually).
As for your cervix, the days around ovulation you shoudl notice that its High Soft and Open (HSO). I have to admit that I've not long been charting my cervical position and I'm finding it very hard to tell the difference. I can tell when its soft or hard, and thats about it!
So, it is possible that you could fall pregnant having DTD on the 28th assuming you are to ovulate in the next day or so. Sperm can survive 4-5 days in the right environment.
Thanks for that. I have no idea if I actually get EWCM in the first place! Guess I don't know my own body very well lol. The acronym I saw online for the cervix was SHOW - soft, high, open, wet. That's great except for the fact that it seems to change depending on what time of day you check; yesterday mine was all of these except soft and today it's all of them except high!
It is best to check your cp and cm at the same time everyday, because as you said, it changes throughout the day, and make sure you use the same position.
It can take a couple of cycles to learn you post ov signs esp cp, most ppl have watery cm just before ewcm so that you will ov soon. If you do you can get preg in the next couple of days.
Not gonna have the opportunity I'm afraid! So if I do it'll be from the 28th. I'm guessing that this is unlikely? What I read was that one gets EWCM when they're actually ovulating not before but that doesn't make sense cos then the sperm can't swim through it! Though wouldn't watery mucous be easier to swim through?
So looking at it, I had my LMP on the 15th Feb. My last cycle was 30 days so assuming this one is the same, AF is due on the 17th. That means that O is due on the 4th, not the 3rd anyway, so no preg for me I think!
