Hi - I'm new here and hoping some of you can help me out. I'm not on the pill - for medical reasons. Normally we use condoms or withdrawl method and are extra cautious around mid cycle. My husband and I had sex (totally unprotected and no withdrawing) on Sunday night and then yesterday (Monday) afternoon when I went to toilet I noticed that I was ovulating (well what I think means I am - egg white mucous??). Is this classed as fertile time or do you have to have sex while or after you've had mucous? Now I've got the flu and am scared to take cold and flu tablets in case I fall pregnant. We weren't planning on children until middle of next year, but my husband got a little carried away Just not sure what to do or think... sorry if TMI
best to steer clear of the cold and flu tablets till u know for sure. U can get a blood test done by your doctor that will show even if you are 1 day pregnant.
You could be pregnant coz sperm can live for up to 5 days and usually you ovulate around the 3rd day of egg-white mucous. You can take a test in a couple of weeks.
Hi Ellee - First things first, there is no such thing as TMI on BB. When you start officially TTC and give birth, you'll understand that very quickly!
Secondly, yes, it is quite possible you might fall pregnant. The mucous suggests that you will ovulate within the next 24-48 hours and given that sperm live up to 5 days, conception could easily take place but in saying that, there is only a 20% chance of falling pregnant each cycle if all conditions are right so you also have an 80% chance of not falling pregnant. Only time will tell. A pregnancy test should tell you in two weeks time ..... I know, a tedious two week wait.
I hope you both get the outcome you want whether that be baby or no baby!
Thanks for your replies It's all a bit wierd... I had the EWCM for a day then it stopped for 24hrs then I've just got it again, except its not as clear. So I don't know. I guess time will tell, it'll just be hard coming up with excuses not to drink at friends farwell this weekend
Yeah, excuses for not drinking are often difficult. Maybe tell your friends that you're on a detox, or make sure your hubby gets all your drinks - dry ginger ale or lime and soda can look alcoholic...
You can still have one or two drinks - even if you are pregnant, the embryo isn't connected to your blood supply until around 10-14 days after conception, but it's always better to be safe rather than sorry.
My best advice is to get your husband or a friend to keep giving you non-alcoholic drinks on the sly. No one will even notice that you're not drinking.
