Hi, i was hoping someone may be able to answer my question???
I am currently breastfeeding doing around 4 feeds a day. When ds was 10 weeks old i had a 'period' (well i'm pretty sure it was) it was lightish and lasted about 4 days, then a mounth later i had some spotting again. But since then i've had nothing. so my question to you is, am i ovulating? could i be ovulating without getting a period? and how do i find out?? we would love to start trying for number 2!
I'd say yes you could be O'ing, but it might be a bit difficult to predict when without regular periods. BFing is only a contraceptive while you feed often and overnight (and sometimes not even then!)
Hard to know. Have you tried temping? or do you notice that you're getting fertile CM?
I'm one of the ones that it doesn't matter how much I'm feeding day & night, my cycle returns within a few months. But I have a regular period then... which makes it easier to know.
In the first 6 months, if you are bfing only - that is no formula or solids, feeding at least once through the night, and have no AF, then it about 98% certain that you are not ovulating. After the first 6 months, all bets are off, whether or not that spotting was AF. It is possible that you are and possible that you are not. Charting might help, but be aware that your cycles could be very irregular at this stage also.
