    Smile Acupuncture in Brisbane?

    Hi everyone!

Just looking at getting acupuncture done to shorten my cycles and help me to TTC #1.

Does anyone have any one they have used in Brisbane with success?

I have never done acupuncture before and have no idea what to expect. What do you wear? Where do they actually put the needles for girl problems!?!?!? And how many times do you go & how long did it take to get results?

Any helpful advice would be appreciated!

    Cheers!

    Hi there,
Havent been for TTC but have been to a good one in the Valley - Jiang Man. She is very experienced (also in chinese herbal medicine) and also one of the lecturers at the Aus. College of Natural Med. My DH studied under her and I used her before labour. Acupuncture isn't always where you think it would be (ouch! lol). So you are likely to get some needles etc in your belly, lower back, feet/ankles, wrists but would depend on what your condition is. I also remember being pleasantly surprised at the cost of it (I think it cost at the time about $40). If you are with a private health fund then you are likely to get some refund.
Hope this helps! Good luck with it all!

I also go to Positive Balance in Indooroopilly with Beau Mannix. He is wonderful and very comforting. I fell pregnant first cycle with him. Very highly recommended

EDIT: They put needles in your belly, near your knees, sometimes on your wrists... and I think once in my foot. Never anywhere private, and I have never needed to undress at all . It does not hurt.

I went once on CD8ish, once at 5DPO, and again at 16DPO. So really I only saw him ONCE before I conceived. The cycle I conceived was different, my temps were higher, I had proper EWCM, and I had ovulation spotting that I had never had before. I actually felt ovulation for the first time ever. It was amazing.

Lemme know if you want Beau's contact details.

    Thanks for the info!

I'm going to book an appointment ASAP!

Was it very expensive for the acupuncture and the herbs? I really don't mind though cause I'm sure its worth it.

    I'm sooo excited!

    Thank-you

With Beau it's $65 a session I think and then the herbs on top of that which are usually around, umm..... baby brain, I can't remember. Maybe $15-$20?? And they last for a couple of weeks. I had different herbs before ovulation and after.

So how long where you guys TTCing before you did acupuncture? It must of been so amazing to see your BFP straight away like that in your first cycle!

I've only been off the BCP since May this year but my cycles have been sooo irregular (one cycle was even 59 days!!!). So hopefully the acupuncture will help me out in that department - it's just so hard having to wait and wait to O.

I was TTC for 11 cycles. Saw Beau on the 12th cycle and fell pregnant.

One session was $65, and from memory I got some herbs for $30 that lasted about two or three weeks?

Bring your charts with you to show Beau. Goodluck :goodluck2:.

    Hi Oscaroscar,

Yeah, I went to see Beau. He was really good, very professional and very good about talking about all those girlie problems.

He has got me starting on some BBT charting now too. So we will see how things go.

Did you do anything else different the cycle you fell pregnant? And are you still doing acupuncture now?

FX for that BFP this cycle...

    Thanks

The only other thing I did differently the cycle I fell pregnant was the lubrication we used. Previously I used preseed only during the fertile period, and normal lubricant in other times. The month I fell pregnant (other than using acupuncture for the first time) I decided to only use preseed for the whole cycle.

I get acupuncture now once or twice a trimester I think. Next one in a few weeks.

Glad you liked Beau, he is wonderful! FX for your !

By the way, are you charting at fertilityfriend.com ?
