Myself and my Hubby are TTC #1 an no such luck yet. My cycle has been all over the shop since coming off the pill 6 months ago. I know it can take a while for my body to get back into the swing of things, but im starting to get disappointed evey time that time of the month comes around, and its negative.
I am currently on the 49th day of this cycle, and my last test was a little over a week ago and it was negative. The cycle before this one was 60 days, and prior to that was 45days. As my cycle is all over the place i dont acutally know when 'O' Day is. I have been Temping for the past 2 months, and again, its all over the place. I have just recently started on Maybe baby, and have not yet ferned.
I am only young (21) and hubby (24) and we thought it would happen allot quicker than this, being both young healthy people.
Just wondering whether any one has any sugestions?
Hi Loz
Sorry to read of your troubles, a girl friend of mine had similar issues TTC in the end after about 6 months of monitoring her cycles (she only had two in this time) she went to her GP, they still made her wait the recommended 12 months before seeing an OB/GYN but gave her some suggestions etc. and had the ball rolling in the system for her.
HAve you thought about seeing a natropath, i was told i would have difficuly conceiving due to many previous cycle and Gyno issues dating back to my early teens so before i went off the pill i saw a natropath that was recommended to me by a friend who had irregular cycles and could not tell when O day was by temping. I saw her for 3 months before coming off the pill and once off the pill my cycle was usually between 27 and 29 days. I honestly believe she helped my cycles keep regular, of course everyone is different but maybe it's worth a try.
All the best hun, hope it changes for you real soon xxx
Sorry to hear about your difficulties in TTC babe.
I second what Kimmie said about going to see a naturopath. Perhaps also an acupuncturist? My cycles were all over the place after my m/c and acup. totally sorted that out right away. It was amazing.
Maybe do some of that stuff for a few months, whilst also checking in with your GP.
Bearing in mind the contraceptive pill can put your body out of whack and it takes a while to get into a routine. It took me a year of long cycles to get a steady one when I came of the pill.
Hi guys,
Thank you for your thoughts, I might do some research, and give a few a call.
Its just frustrating, when i see people who come straight off the pill and fall Preg straight away.. i had to be one of the ones that takes forever! ( i shouldnt really complain, I know there are people out there who have been waiting alot longer than I have)
Yeah i understand feeling frustrated, you decide it's time to start a family but your body as other ideas.
Good idea to do a bit of research, even feeling like you are doing something positive can make you feel a bit better about things.
I wish you all the best and hope your cycle sorted really soon!
Hey Loz. Just thinking about the cycle lengths you've mentioned - when are you DTD? If it's around Day 14 (as most people think ovulation is) then you may be TTC too early in your cycle. Just a thought - you may have a long cycle or you may be still readjusting after the OCP...
Are you monitoring your cervical mucus (not just your saliva)? Years of professional (and personal!) fertility educating and becoming aware leads me to trust in the CM signs first and foremost. Temperature reading can take quite a while to become proficient in reading exactly what's happening - whereas CM sigs are pretty easy to decipher.
A practitioner can help - or there are some great books available to get your started (try the Billings Method and Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler, just for starters).
It's a crazy road TTC - but when you've got the right tools up your sleeve, you're better equiped to achieve your goals.
