    Pregnant or not??

So I am 34 and have two girls, 2 and a half and 14 months. I had a really strange period on Sun - Tues. It was on and off and really light compare to my normal. Strange thing is I felt pregnant and decided to take a pregnancy test. We have been ttc for a few months. The test come up positive, 3 tests later all positive. Did another one this morning and its still positive. I went to the Dr tonight, different one to my normal because I couldnt get into her. This one was male. He told me that I had most probably miscarried and that the pregnancy tests are positive because I still 'have a bit' in me! I was crushed. I had a blood test on Sunday and it showed I had a hcg of 14, he said this was really low. He said he cant do much for me but get me to have another blood test in a week. He did a test there and it was negative. I come home and did one and its positive. I dont know what is going on and am very confused. I am going to my own doctor tomorrow and I am also taking the form for the blood test he gave me and having it first thing. I can control this and I think he was really ignorant about what I am going through. Any thoughts??

Kaz I tested -ve at the Drs but +ve at home when I was PG with Angus. I waited a week and went back after more +ve home tests and the Dr was still doubtful as it took a long time for the cross line to come up. I didn't know I could ask for a blood test but that was pre BB days and less learned back then lol.
I'd had no bleeding though. Hopefully yours may be an implantation bleed

If you're having trouble with Dr's I have a great one in Berwick that i love. PM me if you like

sounds like it could have been an implantation bleed. i had something similar with DD as it was on and off and really only needed a liner IYKWIM. but i truly thought that it was AF so didnt do a test until 2 weeks later and it came back +ve.

i hope you get some answers with your regular doctor. the other guy seemed overall a bit insensitive and not really helpful...

Hi Kaz, it sounds like you're definitely pg to me. Your hCG levels are low because it's early days. When I was pg with DS2 I got a BFP at home, but when I went to the Dr and POAS he said it was a BFN, as we were leaving I looked at the test again and there was a second line! I think the GP tests musn't be as sensitive?

Good luck, it sounds very positive to me

What you are describing is similar to what I had happen last year & I'm afraid it did not end well. I had several + HPT's with one negative in the middle (all different brands) then got a + BT. I think my result was about 24 - 4 days later it was 12. By the time I was at 12 I had spotting which turned into light bleeding (way less than usual AF) which was for 3 days.

I hope your result is different.... I have seen it happen.

Had you been charting? My level of 24 was at 13 DPO which is extremely low so I knew things weren't right even before the spotting started.

Best of luck for a rise in HCG.

    Thanks girls.

At 3am this morning I woke with severe cramping and took myself off to the casey hospital. They were great. They straight away put two iv lines in me and put me on a drip, as they were pretty sure I had an eptopic pregnancy. They did a blood test and it showed my hcg had gone from 14 on Sunday to 41 today. So that was the first positive. Then they did an ultrasound which showed no evidence of a pregnancy. They said that this could mean its really early days, which I am pretty sure it is. THe ultrasound did show that I have a cyst on my right ovary and it has made me very tender and in a lot of pain. My ovary is about double the size it should be. They said that I have to look out for nausea, vomiting, doubling over pain and fainting and if I have any of those symptons get myself straight to hospital as the cyst has ruptured. Also I have to have hcg bloods taken every 48 hours until I get to 2000 and then I have to have a repeat ultrasound. They are thinking the pregnancy may have planted itself where it shouldnt and are telling me to not get my hopes up. THere are a few worrying signs. So for the next few weeks its going to be a matter of seeing what happens. I did another pregnancy test today and its still positive. Anyway, I am home and ok. I am on painkillers to take the edge off. I went to my gp this afternoon and complained about the dr that I seen last night. She said they have so many complaints about him, so why dont they do anything about him I wonder??

Anyway, thanks again for your positive thoughts. Lets hope there is a happy ending!

My sister also found out she was pregnant and told me yesterday! SHe is only about 5 weeeks. Funny considering our last babies were born 2 weeks apart. WIll be interesting to see how this all ends!

Oh wow Kaz, what a stressful day . I had a similar situation in January of last year and it was so stressful not knowing for sure what is happening. You rest up as much as you can and I am praying for a good result for you.

kaz, great about your levels, sounds pretty painfull. i went to casey at 4am a few nights ago they they were terrible so glad you got treated better that me. The doc told me that "nothing happens after twevle weeks os you have wasted your time". he didnt even examine me or anything!!

gosh i hope this is it, sound like it's just the cyst causing trouble.

i have everything crossed for you

Thank Tali ... I will keep you posted if there are any developments. But I am not expecting to have an ultrasound for another 4 weeks. If my hcg levels drop, then that is a fair sign I am not pregnant anyway, but I will still have to have an ultrasound they said in about 4 weeks. Just to check if or what is happening.

I have been out and about today, I am feeling ok. The pain kind of comes in waves and then eases off. Gotta love panadeine forte!
