Donor not responding to stims. Can anyone advise me?
Hi ladies,
I am very new to this forum! I am in the process of doing my first IVF cycle using donor eggs. Both my donor and I had scans last Friday. My lining scan was perfect, but my donor had not responded very well to the stims. She was on 125mg per day for 8 days prior to the scan. Since then she has been injecting 300mg a day. Her next scan is tomorrow at 09.00. When I spoke to her she said that were about 7 follicles on each ovary.
If anyone has experience with this or can advise me in any way what to expect I would love recieive your advice!!!
it's a tough gig going through your first stim cycle - and even more so when it's a donor cycle as you both have to be timed to be in sync for EPU/transfer. it's so experimental. hopefully the increase in stim drugs will help those follicles develop nicely - sometimes they have to step up the drug dose to get the follicles to grow as rapidly as needed. unfortunately though, sometimes they don't develop as well as needed and a cycle will have to be cancelled (not what you want to hear, but it has to be said - i had cycles cancelled).
if the follies have developed nicely, you'll head to EPU when they're at prime size. they might increase drug dose again if they've not responded well enough, though they tend to try to avoid dragging cycles out too long on stim drugs, or put people on too high a dose... if she hasn't responded and they cancel the cycle, the next time they will look at a different protocol - if she has been down regulated (pill, synarel or lucrin), they may look at an antagonist cycle (different protocol, no synarel/lucrin, uses a drug to stop ovulation only for a few days before EPU). it's hard to say exactly what will happen
fingers crossed it all goes ok at next scan and this is all theoretical for you
